i'm very interested in what drives persons such as this to deny the reality of mental disorders which make life so unbearable for those with such disorders. his basic message seems to be "be cool, like me, and everything will be alright". it must be either personal aggrandizement or perhaps financial asperations. at any rate, i would love to have him experience life with severe ocd for a week.
hey. i am an ocd patient too...suffering one hell of anxiety. compulsions there is a medicion Zolpidem (Ambien)..it called zolpidem in my country..its salt is ambien..for my brothers and sisters who are in various countriesit really relaxes and normalises u for some timeno medicine works for me like this..please try this..its an ordinary medicine for anxiety and sleeping but it really works
All you people that say these lebals are real illnesses. Decades ago labels like OCD and bipolar never existed. People who were too emotional or too obsessed with something wherent considered as mentally ill. We all have diferent personalities, like it or not. Some people are more emotional then others. Our brains develope differently, there is no ORDER of a personality. Each person is unique. Each brain has a unique chemical map that builds our personalities. There is no personality "disorder"
He's wrong, they have discovered a differences in the brain. Also, they come out with a urine test to test for it. Also they've given mice an OCD gene and they spent all their time cleaning themselves and gave themselves skin lesions. So doctor stop spreading misinformation, It hurts people who are suffering. Kids with OCD are freaked out all the time they don't enjoy their obsessions. Just because something doesn't effect you doesn't mean it's fake.
Sounds like a conspiracy theorist. Personally I think conspiracy theories are themselves a kind of obsessive disorder. Eg: Paranoia about being controlled by an unseen "them". Doctor heal thyself?
I'm not a mental health professional, but I am fascinated by conspiracy theorists. One thing I see a lot is the strawman argument. Here's one: "disorder, of course, is a euphamism for disease". No. It isn't. Attacking the classification of OCD as a disease is therefore attacking a strawman.
The reason I can't take this doctor seriously is the way he dismisses the biological makeup of OCD, along with other mental ills, and instead treats it with a sort of new age spiritualism and 'woo-woo'. OCD is a biological disorder. It is not something you can just spin positively and pretend will go away by renaming it much like renaming diabetes won't make it go away. Scientists are discovering more about the human brain everyday, for which this doctor has clear contempt.
@666mamakoala "discovering more about the human brain every day" yes Big Pharma has its lackeys at work angling to relieve society of its funds. There are NO mental illnesses, and the mental health movement needs to be OUTLAWED and CRIMINALIZED for its trashing of the Bill of Rights. In 1855 they said slaves who wanted to escape had "drapetomania," and the NY Times later said women in pants were having "an attack of dress reform DISEASE." Still today this sickening cult spouts boundless LIES!
Why is it so hard for people to understand that the human brain is an organ, and just like all other organs in our bodies (heart, lungs, kidneys), it can be subject to defect. (I believe even more so than our other organs due to the brain's complexity). There is obviously a biological, chemical element to ocd, depression, etc. Environment over time influences our brains biology, particularly during childhood. But it's perfectly plausible mental illness is also biologically hereditary. continue..
As an OCD sufferer myself... this guy is making a total ass of himself... In my case I absolutely cannot stand unbalanced things... Call it cliche if you will but it seriously irks me the FUCK off and theres absolutely nothing I can do about it. I absolutely must make it to my desire. You dont have this thus you cant say its not real. I used to think depression was a load of bullshit that could easily be dug out of until I got it. No matter how hard I tried it kept coming back and back and back.
This man is a psychologist. He's supposed to help people, right? Well I don't understand a fucking word he's saying. I think he's full of SHIT like all the rest of em.
Through history certain behaviours were stigmatized. Today in Western society we "pathologize" them as disorders. This is better because people arent stimatized! We blame genes and get on with helping people!
But by detaching from OCD label, I am happier. Symptoms --> talents. I lived amongst the poor of Bogota = REAL problems! We need to do ourselves a favor and stop creating problems for ourselves!
This guy is a dumb a**. It's called Obsessive Compulsive DISORDER, not DISEASE. So the entire argument that this is not a "biological, genetic, defect," is defective. Nowhere in the DSM-IV does it say that it is biological, genetic, or a defect!! I don't know what school this a** went to to get his Ph.D., but I'm pretty sure it had something to do with a Cracker Jack Box.
I think this guy has quite a few valid points. I disagree that the names of the disorders are horrible, but language IS power. But he is also correct about being compassionate about a child's obsessions. My parents were horrible about my OCD growing up. It can really make someone feel alone when they can't even be themselves. My OCD isn't just something for me to get over- it's actually a part of me, a part I can't completely change. Overall, good insight.
I agree with this alot. It did help me though to have my parents explain that there is a disability I have called OCD. At the same time when I would obsess about things like goals I had or have like wanting to go to a certain high school naturally but due to OCD worrying about it more then necessary, it was simply a great gift that I had goals like that rather then not caring about anything like lots of teens., When I am OCD its good to point out and yet with OCD its never hurtful things.
Our son is 27, above average in diversified thinking, mathematics and loves reading. In grade 10 he discovered video games, became obsessed and droppped out of school. He got his high school diploma later and left for college to become a Social Worker. He became absorbed into social life, started smoking cigarettes and pot. Now he is absorbed in playing role playing games cigarettes and pot and drinking. His bank account is always in overdraft. He sleeps so much and avoids talking. Help.
lol psychology is totally full of nothing but asshats with too much time on their hands sitting around thinking of foolish shit all day long, theory after theory with nothing to back up their ideas, this guy is just another drop in the bucket of dipshits that went to college to learn about human behavior and because of this worthless degree they think they know it all, he looks like a washed up hippie anyways, too many psychidelic drugs in his time i say.
I don't care one way or the other. Dr. Breeding is not in charge of taking care of me. I am. I like a bit of OCD in cleaning my apt. The good Dr. doesn't seem to care beyond being right. I would rather buy my cleaning supplies from him rather than subject myself to another minute of his shit. He seems to be a bit angry, but always in control.
I am 15 years olds and i have OCD. Is it common to have OCD at my age, well also this guy looks like he got hit in the face with a showel by ian beale, And it would be so funny if somebody ran up to him in the video and attackd him or stuck a bin bag over hes head and kicked the fuck out of him :L
Good on you, Mr Breeding..Keep up the good work. Don't stop.
Just to let you know...ECT regimes have encompassed the fabric of Australian Mental Health regimes. E.C.T. Electric Convulsive Therapy. Electricution until you convulse. And they call it therapy. Public Hospitals. Electricution under UN guidelines, is torture. We are surrounded by sick people with sicker minds than those they claim to be sick.
Pfff dont hate on him, obviously worry causes more harm than good. Teach people with these disorders to be courageous, confront this stuff. Teach them to think that these fears are not as powerful as they seem, meaning turn everything into a positive. Tell them they are gifted and involve them in a positive passion that has to do with what they are repetitive towards. if you cant do this then you aren't helping your probably over reacting. Open your heart to love, dont reflect your inner worry.
why do people who think that people who act wierd are on drugs why dont people take in to consideration that some people who act wierd might be mentally ill.
anyone protesting, you've already been swallowed by the mouths of corporate giants and government shams.
LISTEN to what he is saying don't just HEAR him, if anyone knows how the subconscious or the mind itself works then they will learn a thing or two from his videos.
otherwise continue sucking your thumb and throwing your hard earned dollars toward's yet another mindfuck by the people in control
This guy is a Scientologist, they denounce the whole psychiatric profession. So stop this video and walk away, the bloke is a nutter who is biting the hand that fed him.
Mister John Breeding , if this is not a disorder , what is it than ? do you think that all those rituals are fun to do ? obviously you dont know how is to deal with ocd.
ps: is there any treatment for ocd ? beside taking antidepressants ?
I appreciate his reflection on the social diagnosis that many "disorders" become. I also like how he encourages parents and patients to accept and nurture the characteristics they harbor instead of being ashamed or afraid of them. I myself am very open about talking about my OCD, but a lot of people hide it and suffer alone.
I do disagree, however, with his opinion that it is solely self/socially diagnosed. In my case, it is definitely genetic, caused by my Serotonin levels.
this guy is bang on about half the so called disorders that are created are complete lies to buy up our emotions and fill us up with pills. its unreal how many disorders there are and how little cures? wake up people and read whats in what yee take and aske yourself how did people live life without pills? total corrupt madness
Remember kids - taking medical advice from a pharma agent is foolhardy. But so is taking medical advice from a person who is not a medical professional.
Get your medical advice from qualified, referenced, scientifically focused medically practicing professionals from their field recommended by the broadest number of their peers who reflects the views of the medical establishment, not pharma, not alt med. But scientific medical field.
Medicine - proper medicine. Is science. This isnt'
Worrying how easy it is to hear similarities between what he's claiming, and the claims of homeopaths, AIDS denialists, and various other alt med proponents.
In this we see the distinction between "PHD" psychology, and clinical psychiatry.
These platitudes on offer, are of a clear appeal to several types of audience - and they clearly serve them well.
Also embarassingly clear, is the lack of scientific expertise, practice, and understanding of basic terminology to which he is oblivious.
You, Professor ass brain, are full of shit. I diagnose you a narcisst and vain. You think by "deconstructing" everything you are Dr. Smart.. I've met people like you before. They were very vain, like you.
@bille77 what he is saying, does not apply to my son bryce, and it doesn't apply to me either, nor did it apply to my father. I don't agree with him much and OCD in iteself and or mental health... oh my, is there a more politically correct lable now? What he is saying is not a catch all and I think it only serves to have others look at SOME persons and say... I watched Dr xyz.. and i think your making up your problems.. oh my, I got bigger fights on my hands.. PEACE.. EVERYTHING IS TO DEGREES
@MishuTaste I've been on Zoloft for only about 2 months and I feel...so much more focused. I had been afraid it would change me, mellow me inot something I wasn't, maybe even make me fuzzy. But I have been able to ignore my fears and really feel more in control. I sleep more. I shower less. -big grin here- The only downside is just that the pills are chalky and if you don't take them with food you'll get a killer tummy ache. Hope you're doing well, too!
This man is putting too much of his personal opinon into this OCD thing. I have OCD and it IS DEFINITELY chemically related, as well some genetic linkage, so he is wrong. Yes, OCD can be looked at in a positive aspect, but guess what, that doesn't make it easier to deal with and it does not make it go away. Medication does help, and medication is used, why??Because of a chemicle imbalance in the brain, JUST LIKE depression, and bipolar, and anxiety, and any other medical psychiatric condition.
@esullivan2186 I agree this in new age selfish ego thinking ,ofcourse NLP can help by reframing the focus of the mind but thats bullshit when you can reframe anything Rape, pedophilia, murder .lets say mental health is in the gut well are stomach problems IBS,reflux, celiac, cancer, pollops are they reframeable? what about religion did jesus not cast out a deamon into the swine? is brain damage real, are genetic traits inheretable?is a 5yr old immune from distinguisable illness,or are there videos???
Not agreeing with this guy! BUT, in a way, it is something we choose to have, i have it, and what i mean by that is; it can be controlled without meds, but we need to be willing to control it. i have, and it works. resisting the rituals is what will help to overcome it, it's worked for me. giving into the rituals doesn't help, it just makes the need to do it again worse and worse. we can choose to control it.
TUCSON, Ariz. — A preliminary study of the active ingredient in psychedelic mushrooms has found it is effective in relieving the symptoms of people suffering from severe obsessive compulsive disorder, a University of Arizona psychiatrist reports. No other treatment eases symptoms faster
Currently, there is no treatment that eases symptoms of the disorder as fast as psilocybin appears to,.
ACTUALLY, a chromosome for OCD has been identified. Although this video is dated, it has been done some time ago. So, just like autism, OCD and ADHD, there is a certain biological predisposition. Add the environmental factors, and VIOLA (however it's spelled)-- you've got yourself a lifelong disorder!
This twat is a anti-psychiatrist, basicaly he is disagree with the industry that he worked to get a PhD for. I have OCD, I didn't decide I was going to have it and let it rule my life. I can't believe he writes off so many serious mental disorders. I think he would get on really well with a Scientologist.
@Krumbleton You dont Know what your talking about at all. Really if you can understand what hes saying you would wouldnt of said what you said and the people who thumbed you up just did that because of how you wrote what you said and acted like you knew what you were talking about when you didnt they are just as mindless as you. (and will die alone)
Look, I hate this guy as much as anyone. However, what if your life depended on chopping firewood 6 hours a day? You end up so exhausted that you can't move and your muscles are screaming out in pain! What happens to your OCD?
They supress / bandaid the problem instead of fixing it. I have had it for about a year and a half now and compared to when i first had it with the thoughts being there 100 times a day to now about 2 times a week but even still they don't bother me much anymore so i am able to dismiss them easily. The fact that i go outside now instead of worrying that i might hurt someone i worry that there are murderers everywhere that might hurt my family. Not a disease but a state of mind, fear and anxiety.
- i now suffer from this "OCD" i get thoughts in my head, they don't sound like other voices it sounds like my own voice in my head telling me to kill people i care about or to kill myself. The first time i got this i freaked out obviuosly because i didn't know if i was going crazy or not but i was prepared to get myself locked up, later on i went to a psychologist to discover this OCD thing and ever since i have been working with my anxiety mentaly, i don't believe in drugs -
All the "Diseases" named aren't necaserily diseases but names to discribe the mental personality of someone. Take derealization for example, you can't look inside a persons brain or do a blood test to understand or determine the cause but it is there and it will effect the person exactly how the name discribes. I grew up with more morals then anyone i know and the most kindness and caring behaviour, infact, i still treat people the same and think the same as i once did however -
I see you've taken some heat for expressing the difference between 'organic' and 'textbook' based diagnosis. What most people fail to recognize is that without the Psychiatric 'diagnosis' the Pharmaceutical companies wouldn't get any money, and furthermore, the Psychiatrist wouldn't be able to make any money on clients if he didn't give them a label - remember his huge student loan obligations. The Socio-Psych industry is just one more head of gov control for money and power.
Smart man. I believed in the psychiatric thing for a couple years. Led to drug addiction and dystonia. Orthomolecular psychiatry is the way to go. Biological Psychiatry almost killed me. It ruins lives.
Some people weigh themselves all the time because they are obsessed with maintaining the same weight 24/7 and it is hard to do so and when there weight changes it makes them anxious. It is easy to alter your weight as a human.
I spoke of Religious OCD not general OCD. I know it is difficult and I still suffer and it would never be my intention to insult anyone as the site was just something that helped me and I think it may help other Christians as it refers to the Bible.
Thinking praying is stupid is your belief but not mine.
I respect all religious/non religious beliefs and opinions regardless if I share them or not and would ask others do to do the same.
Notice he calls himself "John Breeding", not Dr. John Breeding. Just because he calls himself a "professor" doesn't mean he is one. He can look and act like he knows what he is talking about, but he doesn't. OCD has a biological basis and is one of the diagnosis that are mentioned in the parody law. Please be careful when listening, and realize this is one individual's opinion, who may himself have a mental disorder-disease.
people who do not have it, will not ever understand a thing of it.
Medications are not the cure for sure, but they help you through a battle, just like when your bullied and you buy yourself a knife. Its not the cure but it just helps you defend yourself against something.
Hey thanks D*ckhead, so my OCD is all just in my head and I made it up according to you. you need to learn more about Narcissistic personality disorder, look it up because you apparently didn't with the subjects you are talking about now!
The modern day man/woman has so much shit to deal with that the mind creates coping mechanisms for the anxiety. The sub conscious tells the conscious mind that "if I do this then I will be ok" or "bad things won't happen to me". So over time we create these behaviours and OCD is active. It is formed by insecurity and anxiety in our minds, I recommend NLP to you guys. Remember you thought your way into this problem, you can only think your way out of it..... Email me if you need a friend.
also if i dont do a ritual (which makes no sense in reality...like counting or doing a werid action/movement) i fear that my goals wont come true unless i do them because then i wpuld feel in control of my circumstances & prevent more bad luck. the back luck that happened was unexpected & i wasnt able to prevent so i think its like trying to take control & prevent more of the same from happening
ocd in my case is like this, a lot of shit happened like getting tortured by bullies & i felt i deserved the repetitive bad luck & victimization. and now over and over i think that if soemthing in the room or whatever is not set perfectly or looks funny, or if i do not repeat a ritual or count a cetain number in my head, then i could get cursed again. those rituals to me feel like a way to control the possibility of a curse returning, like neutralizing it. its stupid but true
@BellaaMarlene i know this sounds stupid but i use to pray Our Father every time i bumped my head. i stoped doing it after i convinced myself that i was sinning. but then some other shit would pop up in my life and i would have to do another ritual for whatever new thing i was doing.
i was not fucking born with this the onset happened at my teens & i am thinknig its because of all the shit luck that happened & the curse always might return. fuck the pharma trolls
CAN SOMEONE TELL ME IF I HAVE OCD? i dunno if its perfectionism or extreme sensitivity but ive been thinking obsessivly for 7 years and ive been suicidal that whole time...when someone called me stupid or somethind id obsess about it over and over and over and over (you get the point) and couldnt stop, damaging my self esteem...i also remember obsessing about random things for no reasons..i have no compulsions but i do have obsessive intrusive thoughts. would this be considered pure o?
@shisksjis it could be a small case of it i have the same symptom whenever someone either calls me stupid ugly or fat etc. the image of the person saying it to me will repeat over and over in my mind. jus because you have one or two symptoms doesnt mean you dont have it jus means it is developing and could potentially get worse!
obsessive compulsive is just a description of the condition and if you ask any body who had the condition they will agree this words are the best discription
@villainousturtle But you see, according to this numb-nuts it`s all just because your parents didn`t encourage your obsession while calling it "dedication" instead.
I used to suffer BIG TIME with this crap! I have been completely delivered from anxiety, panic attacks, agoraphobia, ocd and much more for over 5 years now. No it's not a, "you gotta pay something" nonsense. I want to tell as many people as I can because I am completely healed of it all without having to a pay cent! Check out my channel or go to my site: fuentesevangelism . com. You will not be disappointed!
Wow, this guy really opened my eyes. Clearly, the woman who spends 4 hours a day repeatedly washing her hands, or the guy who turns the doorknob a dozen times before opening the door is simply driven and determined.
By the way, kudos to anyone who made it through the whole video. This guy is possibly the most boring speaker on youtube, but I was so stunned at how little effort he makes to show any understanding of OCD apart from breaking the acronym down, that I had to finish.
I've learned to cope with my OCD. I used to have terrible ticks that I couldn't control, but after a while I started seeing the potential ticks could have to improve my skills and abilities. I saw this potential because most of my ticks were of a muscular nature and i felt the need to flex certain small muscles as much as i could. So I converted this into finding ways to excersice my muscles instead of flexing them. Now I always impress my friends with my hand's strength and excellent reflexes.
how about certian philosophical obsessions that start as a child?
should they be informed about the truth or encouraged to block out these thoughts?
how can these children be encouraged to block out these thoughts?
should all parents be informed about the nature of ocd so they can take on the role of the therapist/psychologist?
should ocd or the particular theme of the obsession have a label in the first place as you say or should it just be considered to be natural interests ect.
Wow this guy has serious problems! OCD is REAL and certainly not something someone chooses to have! Clearly it has to do with the Serotonin levels in the brain this is why SSRI's help and can be passed on to your child. Is this guys PhD in basket weaving from some online college. Are you serious?!!!

@jesnroc I'm willing to bet my soul that you, and every other lemming that gave you a thumbs up, have been extensively indoctrinated via University; hence your absurd lack of an analytical mind. You are a victim of blind faith in pseudo-science, which is evident in your statement that "it CLEARLY has to do with serotonin levels...this is why SSRI's 'help'..etc." None of this is proven science; many scholars argue the opposite, and therefore cannot be 'clear'. You are the modern religious fanatic
@supplanter111 What in the world did what I say have to do with religion? I think you totally lost it there. What I said was about nuerotransmitters in the brain that control the central nervous system. This nuerotransmitters play a role in OCD, ADHD, Tourette's Syndrome just to name a few. I work in Neurological research with people with these disorders. This is VERY real.
@brooklynjes Actually it is you who has trouble understanding my allusion. Psychiatry is modern dogma, 'psychiatric treatment' is the inquisition and the whole chemical imbalance nonsense is a fictitious excuse for medicating/torturing people. The fact that you work in neurological research and don't know that your field has produced no scientific facts concerning these diagnosis' is the ipso facto evidence that you are the mindless, fanatic adhering to this dogmatic pseudoscience/religion.
mental disorders are highly subjective. you can't really prove them with facts and numbers. what you say is very ignorant. never take anything for granted.
@jesnroc It's " binary thinking " gone wrong. Had it all my life.
Zero = negative = no progression. One = positive = progression. Combine it with its resultant depression, and the depression hinders the abilty to take note of the positives. Therefore, your chance of progression is increasingly minimalised. So we get immersed in the negatives, and our condition can get worse. Low self esteem can ensue, thus OCD can have a field day .
@jesnroc There is no scientific evidence of a 'chemical imbalance'. Keep your 'pseudo science' to yourself. OCD is real, but so is stupidity. Medications do not SOLVE any problems. They MASK it. They are TRANQUILISERS or in SRI's, inhibitors (look up the meaning of inhibitors). Designed not to help the sufferer, but to help those AROUND the sufferer, in order for them to be able to interract (ie the family/community).
Supporters of these regimes are dangerously ignorant. And sick in the heart.
I am offended that people think so little of ocd. I have had it since I was six years old and it has stopped me from having a normal childhood. I have to wash my hands 3 times after touching something. I can't hold hands with my boyfriend without wearing gloves. I can't take tests without having an emotional break-down because I am not aloud to re-wright things three times. I can't even hug my parents, fear of contanimation or breaking routine is ruining my life.
Round 7.15 This man states "Have a generous assortment of odd fellows and peculiar Ladys in the perimeter of a Childs life"....Why the hell would any decent person allow this or even think it!!!??? He then goes on to say how it makes life rich and interesting and ends with "Maybe some of these odd fellows and peculiar ladys might otherwise be labeled Obsessive Compulsive Disorder" Nice assumption there DR TWISTED NUTJOB!!!!

I only watched the first 45 seconds of this video so far, and already this person says that schizophrenia does not have a change in the brain structure or brain chemicals? I don't agree...
like if he thinks that, then where did this person get his phd? maybe he's never actually had any "disorder" even like depression before? I believe that your thoughts can change chemicals in your brain. (yes, "language is power", I agree) but i don't think these chemicals don't exist.
maybe this is just supposed to be a pep talk.
please don't relax about these obsessions. they're pretty... aggravating
Everything he spoke of has a chemical reaction. For example, when the chemical serotonin is low, depression is stimulated. Whereas, when dopamine levels are high, a sense of elation and happiness befalls a person. Therefore, everything this man is saying is subjective because science has shown us that chemicals control a persons emotion and more significantly their brains plasticity. Finally, one could argue that obsessions and compulsions have formed due to brain adaptations to certain stimuli
im willing to gamble that you could poll 100 people on the street and every single one of them would have a better understanding of what OCD is than dr fuck-wit here. If every psychologist on the planet was as dumb as this guy then evry person with mental illnesses would live in a very isolated and scary place
AND FOR SOME REASON YOU REMIND ME OF A PEDOFILE PREIST
Somewhat scientific explanation of OCD. Not too many examples. Nevertheless, There is great help for it. This help can be found in several places, including on solutiontherapiesonline. -c-o-m. I think you still need meds.
I do not understand why we need to look at history here. There are many therapies out there. There is help. For instance, solutiontherapiesonline. -c-o-m
is a great one. I do not think behavior therapy can help.
@89DrAcoNiAn89 you can see in reumathology where there are a lot of diorders without a certain cause of the etiology, but corticoids work very well in these patients...does that mean that the corticoids are bad for this people??
I think that the psychologists are taught to be antipsychiatrists (less work for them??)

Maxtcarson 7 months ago
Sounds like a conspiracy theorist. Personally I think conspiracy theories are themselves a kind of obsessive disorder. Eg: Paranoia about being controlled by an unseen "them". Doctor heal thyself?
I'm not a mental health professional, but I am fascinated by conspiracy theorists. One thing I see a lot is the strawman argument. Here's one: "disorder, of course, is a euphamism for disease". No. It isn't. Attacking the classification of OCD as a disease is therefore attacking a strawman.
Oh dear.

666mamakoala 8 months ago
@666mamakoala "discovering more about the human brain every day" yes Big Pharma has its lackeys at work angling to relieve society of its funds. There are NO mental illnesses, and the mental health movement needs to be OUTLAWED and CRIMINALIZED for its trashing of the Bill of Rights. In 1855 they said slaves who wanted to escape had "drapetomania," and the NY Times later said women in pants were having "an attack of dress reform DISEASE." Still today this sickening cult spouts boundless LIES!
skirts365 6 months ago

Probably get thumbed down for this but here goes
An existential problem not medical!!!!

This guy is a dumb a**. It's called Obsessive Compulsive DISORDER, not DISEASE. So the entire argument that this is not a "biological, genetic, defect," is defective. llamala2010 11 months ago
Overall, good insight.
kellyraye815 11 months ago
I agree with this alot. It did help me though to have my parents explain that there is a disability I have called OCD. At the same time when I would obsess about things like goals I had or have like wanting to go to a certain high school naturally but due to OCD worrying about it more then necessary, it was simply a great gift that I had goals like that rather then not caring about anything like lots of teens., When I am OCD its good to point out and yet with OCD its never hurtful things.

Not agreeing with this guy!

He can look and act like he knows what he is talking about, but he doesn't. OCD has a biological basis and is one of the diagnosis that are mentioned in the parody law.

You are the modern religious fanatic
supplanter111 1 year ago
@supplanter111 What in the world did what I say have to do with religion? I think you totally lost it there. What I said was about nuerotransmitters in the brain that control the central nervous system. This nuerotransmitters play a role in OCD, ADHD, Tourette's Syndrome just to name a few. I work in Neurological research with people with these disorders. This is VERY real.
brooklynjes 1 year ago
@brooklynjes Actually it is you who has trouble understanding my allusion. Psychiatry is modern dogma, 'psychiatric treatment' is the inquisition and the whole chemical imbalance nonsense is a fictitious excuse for medicating/torturing people. The fact that you work in neurological research and don't know that your field has produced no scientific facts concerning these diagnosis' is the ipso facto evidence that you are the mindless, fanatic adhering to this dogmatic pseudoscience/religion.

@jesnroc
mental disorders are highly subjective. you can't really prove them with facts and numbers. what you say is very ignorant. never take anything for granted.
avatarion 1 year ago
@jesnroc It's " binary thinking " gone wrong. Had it all my life.
Zero = negative = no progression. One = positive = progression. Combine it with its resultant depression, and the depression hinders the abilty to take note of the positives. Therefore, your chance of progression is increasingly minimalised. So we get immersed in the negatives, and our condition can get worse. Low self esteem can ensue, thus OCD can have a field day .
God. Give. Me. Strength. Lol!
Noodles37UK 1 year ago
@jesnroc There is no scientific evidence of a 'chemical imbalance'. Keep your 'pseudo science' to yourself. OCD is real, but so is stupidity. Medications do not SOLVE any problems. They MASK it. They are TRANQUILISERS or in SRI's, inhibitors (look up the meaning of inhibitors). Designed not to help the sufferer, but to help those AROUND the sufferer, in order for them to be able to interract (ie the family/community).
Supporters of these regimes are dangerously ignorant. And sick in the heart.

I find his denial of the existence of these conditions somewhat ignorant...

(yes, "language is power", I agree) but i don't think these chemicals don't exist.
maybe this is just supposed to be a pep talk.
please don't relax about these obsessions. they're pretty... aggravating
supervioletrain 1 year ago

@MichaeleSaavedra Actualmente se necesita un tratamiento con antidepresivos (médico psiquiatra) y terapia conductual (médico psiquiatra o psicólogo para darte consejos acerca de modular la conducta y la compulsión)
89DrAcoNiAn89 1 year ago

There is an stigmatization of mental illness. It is an illness as well. It messes with your functionality.
There have been a lot of mistakes in medical practice not only in psychitry but in all medical specialities.
89DrAcoNiAn89 1 year ago
@89DrAcoNiAn89 you can see in reumathology where there are a lot of diorders without a certain cause of the etiology, but corticoids work very well in these patients...does that mean that the corticoids are bad for this people??
I think that the psychologists are taught to be antipsychiatrists (less work for them??)
