Kudos to Kia who demonstrates their good corporate citizenship , Can you clarify how many local TCH residents were involved in the planning, building and maintenance of the project. It looks like most of the workers are professional landscapers or university students rather than local youth. My concern is the hand out vs the Hand Up approach. If residents are engaged in build a project they take more ownership of the project. and are sustainable
@gcmcknight Thanks for the kudos. We did help with the heavy-lifting to get the structure built fast, but the community planned, planted and will maintain their own plots. And they were definitely the driving force behind the creation (Gilder residents have a lot of fight and determination). Check out the Behind Kia Drive Change Garden video for more on the back story.
