Although the 2.0t is nice on power. The 2.5 does have better reliability but both are fine now. I personally love the sound of a 5cylinder and so do many enthusiasts.
The torque is actually really good for a 2.5. 170hp for a 2.5 is average. mazda 3 2.5 has 167hp for comparison. Or a scion xb 2.4L has 156hp. Most the torque comes in very early and holds well into high rpms. The sound I think is damn sexy and unique.
@Intechdude300 Displacement mostly dictates power output not number of cylinders. For instance a 3.5 V6 makes more power than a 3.0 in general. There are small v8's with less power than a 6.
@Intechdude300 yes cause you should know that. Engine size dictates torque, power and not # of cylinders. And forced induction makes a huge difference on any engine in terms of power. A subaru impreza sti can make as much power as engines much larger because of the turbo.
I'd have to think twice about getting one of these. Styling is bland and its almost a mix of Mercedes Benz and Toyota corolla. I'd take a Hyundai quicker than this.
I drove this car as a rental its a great vehicle; the only two problems I had were the numb steering i felt like i didnt have control most of the time at higher speeds. And the acceleration paddle, it seemed hesitant from 0 goin up. But other than that i loved it
@YESUAAntony Not much I can do at an auto auction for dealers only where filming is prohibited. At the time I was using an iPod Nano which really wasnt the best thing to use.
@Jakeman2164 People just seem to think that because it's newer, it has to be better. I don't believe this interior will stick around for long as it's been heavily criticized & considering that just about every other VW in the lineup has a better interior.
@Intechdude300 so you my open minded and intelligent fella what you do with soft touch interior ? tell me how plastic interior affects car's performance ? if you have talked about the axle suspension, i would understand but beating up the plastic ? :/ please enlighten me, you great scholar :D
@dx2y Consider that all of the professional reviewers out there such as Edmunds, Car & Driver, Motortrend, & etc have nothing positive to say about the interior quality downgrade of the 2011 Jetta & all stress how the 2010 model had a much better interior. So there you go, it's not only coming from me :P
@Intechdude300 see bitches keep always crying, you can never satisfy them. first they cried over high prices vw vehicles ....now when vw downgraded the quality but lowered the prices, they started crying about quality. the thing is you get what you pay for. but still i don't see how plastic interior affects your ride ? i mean when i drive my car i don't put my hands or feet on dashboard. i bet they never said anything about huyndai or kia looking like german cars, did they ?
3 minutes into the video your still bashing the hard touch plastics, we got the fact that the interior no longer has soft touch plastics in the common touch zone. The exterior looks great, sort of like a mini A4. Interior is plain and rather cheap, but not bad looking.
@nls8520 I rub it in so much because people who just dont have a clue just assume that I'm wrong by stressing that the interior in the 2011 model is better when we & many others no it's not... VW did everything else decently except they screwed the interior & passing allowing the long on the tooth 2.5L 5 Cyl which is in dire need of a HP boost. Engine of its size ought to have around 200HP+
@nls8520 An 07 2.5L for a few weeks but quickly got rid of it as the Valve Body in the tranny acted up. Also didnt like the mechanical complexities & high price of parts as it needed other things done. For the moment, I still prefer a car I can be more hands on with. Right now I have a 2001 Volvo S60 T5 & its a simple car for me to work on :)
@Jakeman2164 Just got an 07 (2.5L Package 1) Last week as a replacement to my Conti :) I like it but need t fix a few things on it but it won't be at my cost. I can't wait to do a comparison so it will shut many people up
you made a fucking shit fuck out of yourself idiot, that new jetta is such a nice car, farthest thing from cheap. its clean and you look at anything else in its catagory.. camry.. focus.. etc etc. anything u find me another car thats as nice as the jetta and comes stock with leatherette you lemme know. alright dumbass fucking peice of shit.
@StevenBTT LOL, the interior is a step down whether if leatherette ( Vinyl ) is standard or not. It's not about the seats & how the car is constructed but certain interior components. The rest such as the dashboard & many of the common areas that you feel & touch is downgraded to the point that its a slap in the face.
I just got an 07 Jetta for myself which I plan to do a very good comparison to show off how much better the older interior really was. The difference is immense.
@Intechdude300 i have to agree with intechdude,, it is a cheaper model , but came out at a higher price, i myself own a VW jetta 2.5L 2010, and it's way better , than this one, this new edition has less things, that's just my point of view, obviously because i have something to compare it with!
@Chrls5 And I just can't wait to make a video of the 2007 I just got. This way people will stop being so nasty & see that it's a reality. That I'm not saying the new Jetta is a bad car, but that VW really downgraded the interior.
Please check out my channel before making comments directly at me. FYI, it doesn't matter what trim level you get in the Jetta, the cheap quality will pretty much carry on.
They've improved in some models. But they still have many old timers with the same old. Equinox , Terrain, Acadia, Traverse, Tahoe/related are all still disappointing. The Cruze is a big improvement than the Cobalt but it still lags behind the Focus & even a Fiesta.
The Buick Lineup is what really improved & some models in the Caddy lineup.
@Intechdude300 - I agree with that... I would also add the Impala to the cheap interiors... that entire car is ready for a revamp! Yeah Buick has greatly improved, as well as the Cobalt.
It's when the previous generation a car actually has a better interior & not a step down in a time where standards are set so high for a respected brand.
Just checkout the car for yourself & compare to the 2010 Jetta if you can. If you dont care for such qualities like mentioned in the vid or the underpowered 5 cyl engine, then the Jetta may float your boat.... Just check out your cars in person tho you will now have an idea of what to expect when you see it.
I personally like it! Seen it in person n it is really nice. What is up with this guy?? Is he really gona be hitting the dashboard the door handles n the center arm rest all the time!? These are insigjificant things people try n point out to make a car look bad overall! Im buying an se with convenience! Das auto!!!! :)
Of course I made it look bad, car is a step down from the older jetta. Underpowered 2.5L 5 cyl, interior quality is a step down almost to the level of toyota corolla cheapness thanks to the cost cutting VW took in order to make the jetta more affordable. Heck even a Elantra has a better interior even tho I dont like that car either.
I mean, I wont consider the car garbage tho its a step backwards in many ways over the previous generation. What I like is how the car has some Audi Influence in the front end. Not a fan of the 2.5L 5 Cyl which is quite underpowered for its size & hasnt even been improved over the older years. Now with the new Focus out out with decent quality interior, the Jetta just looks & feels cheap inside along with an overall bland exterior. Tho I will take a Jetta over a Corolla tho.
Theres nothing wrong with with saying decent. Say 2 yrs from now & competitors redesign their vehicles which can be class leading in their way over the Jetta, then this video would be considered wrong & I'll get lots of shit from people who dont look at the video dates. Nobody needs to see LOL, there are a few stray video on here, probably within the last 75 vids with an Exhaust View where I am fully exposed but at distance. I do it on purpose tho.

@Intechdude300: One of the reasons why I like driving my Jetta is because it feels like I'm driving a more expensive car; the interior quality is almost on par with what you'd find in an Audi or something. My Jetta has the same engine as the one in your video (the 2.5 L 5-cylinder) and I actually quite like it. I like the sound it makes and it's a bit peppy too. I just wish it was a little easier on gas.
They were trying to make it cheaper to better compete with the Civic/Corolla, but they went a little too extreme when it came to cost cutting, I mean the interior quality is probably just average whereas before it had the best quality, but there is absolutely no excuse for them to keep the same outdated engines when all the new cars are trying to become more efficient.
Yeah I was disappointed that they just carried over engines to a newly done car. I really understand VW's motive which was to make Jetta Affordable & they have done that. It's as priced just as low as a Corolla. Despite my any disapprovals I have with it, I would sure as hell take this Jetta over an Corolla.
But definitely they really went extreme by making the Interior so poor.
@Intechdude300 they could do even better because Hyundai and Kia now know how to make a car cheaper than a Corolla with halfway decent interior quality and refined engines, Nissan has been doing that for years too
@crammage their reliability today is much better than it used to be, only problem is that they are very expensive to fix and they can be hard to work on
Yeah, I should've just said ewww the entire time I sat in this car LOL.......It would've been enough said haha. It will take a few yrs for VW to learn. I prefer the Older Jetta Interior & ass. The front end grew on my & does have some audi influence. But those carryover engines are disappointing.
