From the gameplay I've seen in this and part 2, this game seemed to have incredibly smooth gameplay, familiar and new elements in perfect balance (Them Zakobon's still spinning), and even great sound effects. Capcom's possibly buried themselves now, Megaman Legends 3 was the huge opening they needed for their sales.

What do we get instead? A virtual kick in the face, a.k.a. Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. "Want these new awesome characters? Go buy the new game then."

My guessing of why Crapcom canceled this:

1.- They hate both this saga and the fans

2.- They hate inafune for conserving the copyright of Megaman and all related things of Megaman (they don't want to give him money, assholes)

3.- No 3D elements needed to play (may be the explanation about their ¨criteria¨ excuse)

@GregarLink5 when the big movement happened to get the game back there were employees taking the fans side, though ultimately it failed. i don't think they hate inafune, he was the one who brought the megaman series up. he was capcoms miyamoto. and they've said several times that MML3's cancellation had nothing to do with inafune leaving. no 3d elements required to play, (since 3d is there to multiply the experience rather than create it) would give them an excuse to move it to wii u.

All this work into development and it was cancelled. I guess Lost Planet is still fucking them in the ass. MVC3 was a failure to me. I bought the collector's edition, played the game for a bit and realize how my fingers were not flying everywhere like it did when playing MVC2. It's been on the shelf for months now and today they announce Ultimate MVC3 with more characters, that's just insulting. I'll go play my Naruto games now, at least I know everything is included on a single disc.

Dash feature's nice. Aside from not-so-subtly hinting at the name of the game, at least there's a much faster movement option as opposed to Rock's useful, but much slower, Dash Boots. For a prototype, it does look rather good.

And what was so cherishable about the Megaman series is that it was a game, you felt like you were playing a game. Not working on achievements, progressing through characters emotional hardships deciding if you like them enough to put in your team, or what to do once it's over. The last recent game I played that truly felt like nothing more then a good ol' fun game was Wind Waker, it wasn't hard, the graphics weren't great.. but it was timeless, and, for me, I could always play it again.

Same basic gameplay we knew and loved in Megaman Legends with more movement. No Megaman? Don't worry, you can't judge everything on something that mark "prototype", plus, doesn't anyone remember Zero from the old games? So you weren't Megaman, but no one cared. People still liked Zero, and it was still Megaman. I know you'll see and most likely take over Megaman as well, considering he and Roll are all over the game art still, Megaman is still takes up most of the pages.

He's Barrett, the leader of a biker gang. Supposedly one of the points of this prototype is to show how Roll built a rocket with Barrett's help to get to Elysium to rescue Volnutt. The game segues into the full game, much like the Dead Rising 2 downloadable prequel led into the full game.

There were more characters revealed however info is scarce on them. Pick, Grill, and Max, the new heroine (Aero's) crew. They were shown in the trailer.....
