I don't use the huntsman because I don't have it, I get stuff like the Eyelander and scout hats. Whenever I counter-snipe a hunstman sniper, I always end up walkiing into their arrows, so it's headshot versus headshot, and everybody dies!

IMO, the Huntsman and rifle depend on the situation. If you're on offense or in an enclosed area, the Huntsman shines there because of its quick charge time and shorter range and speed.

I cant quick scope kill with the rifle, but I have seen amazing competetive snipers uterly decimate whole teams with long range AND short range shots. The short range were mostly on scouts btw.

Again, I am not saying the Huntsman is bad, however it can be dodgedif the enemy has sight of the arrow. The one thing the Huntsman has over rifle is the flaming arrows when a pyro is in a team.

The reason people hate huntsman sniper is because of its design. its designed to be powerful at close/medium range, adding a combative side to the snipers. the problem was that it backfired, being able to bodyshot full health classes and snapfire aiming at the head, taking out most classes with a 1 second charge. i dont disagree that CAN be more combative, but most huntsman users just stand with normal snipers and spam at doorways, without picking a target or even seeing the enemy.

I love how everyone says that the huntsman is fail. The huntsman is not fail, you just fail with the huntsman. I like the huntsman for its great tactical use. Its one of the few guns in the game that works anywhere. Not to mention a good huntsman sniper can control an area better then a rifle sniper. I think huntsman is better than rifle and almost never use the rifle. But w/e if anyone wants to 1v1 me huntsman vs rifle my name is Ookami. I would love to prove my point.

Rifle is instantaneous and straight, Bow has a lag time and arc.

The only way to compensate for a sniper war is for the huntsman to know where the other sniper is going. They do the exact same damage, but the sniper is easier to shoot, more accurate, and faster.

In close quarters, the rifle sniper has to be heinously good to get a huntsman, but long range the rifle dominates.

What you're saying is basically akin to "You think medic is so important? Well 1v1 me as medic while I'm playing soldier, and we'll see who wins."

I think its mainly Huntsman would do slightly better on offense than rifle unless your counter sniping an extremely well placed sniper. Its all a matter of preference really. Despite being called a "pro" sniper by people I don't even know. I prefer huntsman to rifle on some maps and sides.

Well, I actually think it's kinda stupid that the huntsman won't fire underwater or midair. Specially midair because as you know, more often than not you'll find yourself airborne. And yes, if i have the rifle i do pretty well at noscoping the solly who's juggling me, but with the huntsman you can't do anything but wait to touch the ground to fire.

Also, while the flamethrower not working underwater is perfectly logical, the huntsman not firing midair is retarded...

I'll jump on the rifle vs. huntsman bandwagon. In all honesty I consider both of equal value because both are useful but for diffrent situations and diffrent players. I personally use both the huntsman and the sniper rifle about the same amount and found both are incrediably useful. I will admit I like the huntsman more I think mainly because when i shoot it with high power I don't sacrifice part of my vision so I can see more coming. Oh and I will admit to using and liking the Sydney Sleeper

That is not true at all, a Huntsman sniper can take down a rifle sniper at short range, however this won't work at long or medium range. (Sometimes at medium.) People think it's rigged as it is but after comparing the two weapons I think more needs to be added to it. +25 hp, 125 can't cut it when the weapon forces him to in the front lines when he has no speed or cloak. They should cut the re-arrow time in half because a bodyshot is fatal against a soldier, no time to rearrow.
