  • ...Legends...Time Travelers.....Bridging Our World ....With ....Magical Moody Music.........

  • ALOHA AND MAHALO ... THIS SONG GOT ME FROM PHX TO LA ONE TIME WHEN I WAS MOVING ALL BY MYSELF WITH A PICK UP LOADED WITH MY JUNK ... NEVER FORGET THE CRYING I DID WITH THIS SONG ... XOX

  • Has anyone heard Barclay James Harvest doing a song called " poor Man's Moody Blues ?" Try it, if you like this, you'll love it.

  • Love it

  • Don't you just dream of turning on the radio and hearing this type of music, instead of F**** Biber

  • i will always love justin...he wrote my favorite song....also tuesday afternoon...his voice soothes me...everytime i am upset i listen to him...

  • Absolutely a beautiful song, & they do it so very well!!! Thanks to the Moody Blues!!!

  • I seem to remember playing this to death on reel tapes and 4track. But in the 90's a heard a story that changed all that. A young high school chum in the redwoods of California was told to write an English assignment. She thought she had some great poetry and new this group that could really set it to music. She submitted nights in white satin etc and they claimed it as their own. Teacher and hd kid fought this and he never got a dime for this. Anybody out there brave enough to prove me true. I

  • Beautiful song! Love it!

  • Would love to know the origin and date of this recording. My guess is early 80's, before the girls were added to the live show and before Moraz got the shaft. Looks like they are either lip synching or singing to a prerecorded track. You can hear acoustic guitar tho Justin is "playing" electric. Also, the performance is edited down for time (flute solo is too short). Still, one of the greatest songs of all time.

  • @detroitjoeturner - Actually was created in 1967, but was re-released on top 40 in 1972. Charted #1 for the year and also charted high again in 1973. Incredible album. My mother (God rest her soul) loved it and was hooked on the Moody Blues and Days of Future Past from then on.

  • This is one of the most beautiful songs in the world, along with The Bangles Light my way home, Ofra Haza Along the sea, and some few other remarkable - everlasting - songs...

Problem for me with a song like that, is a start to "hate" because I am playing is so often......

You know, when eating a favourite food too much and too long, you just cant take it anymore

But, my God - this song is out of the ordinary!!

Go to YouTubes WONDERFULVOICES - and listen to the collection there...

  • wow

  • Holy Mackerel...And Cow....I Just Kissed My Flat Screen.....

  • The Bronx Tale

  • Saw these guysd twice in the 90's, once with the (VSA) Vermont symphony orchestra, and again a couple years after at Stratton Mt. they really are the best 60's band still around today!! Love Love Love this song!!!

  • Beauty I'd always missed with these eyes before

Just what the truth is I can't say anymore

  • I fell in love with Louie Esposito to this record in Ozone Park, New York in 1971. He's gone but I will never forget him!!!!!!

    Helen T.

  • @int3rn4l12 helen hes not gone furter then you will meet again on the other side..true love transends this life and your souls will meet and share your love.once more... all the best to you ...kim .denmark.

  • Bellisima cancion y gran interpretasion!!!!!!

  • As soon as i hear this song....i remember watching Deuce Bigalow- male gigalo....where he is all stoned out of his mind in the restaurant. than he wakes up bitting his pimp's nipple.....lol.

  • Can't get the video to work.

  • Yes I Love You

  • I love this song. I wish he would sing it to me.

  • @huzzy33 Watch the video again, and he WILL sing it...just for you..... all in the privacy of your own home... anytime you wish! The Moody Blues will rock forever!!!

  • @Titan52berg I will.. Thank you. This song just makes me miss someone so much.

  • @Titan52berg BTW, changed my name, was tired of being a huzzy. LOL

  • what year is this?

  • the best song of history!!!

  • Justin Hayward.. I Adore You So! I Bloody think you rule, still even in 2011!!!!

  • Ray Thomas and Alex Trebek -- separated at birth?

Just a tease -- the Moodies are my all-time favorite band. Love ya, guys.

  • Justin Hayward is so, so, so ,soulfully gorgeous,,,,and that vvvvv v v v v v v voice!

  • The best song EVER written and sung by the most gorgeous angel-god with the purest, white aura. Lucky, lucky, lucky Mrs Hayward!

  • This song, especially by the Moody Blues, just blows my mind! It is one of those songs that catapults me to a higher space-time continuum. One of the best songs of a memorable era. God doesn't this make you nostalgic!

  • @ lesGorrie , I loved it too . His best performance, it was so beautiful!!

  • This is the time when good music was produced with no help of computer technology. I still have hope that this era will come back. It is all about the music

  • @newton251169 And they will say: "What? No autotune? What do I do now?"

  • Awesome live version!

    Spine-chilling as always!

  • Always hated this song til Matt Cardle sung it tonight-loved it

  • me tooooo

  • Matt Cardle totally erased my revulsion to this song. Can't explain why I never liked it - but it's off the "avoid" list. Of course freebird is still on that list along with stairway to heaven. Long story.

  • me too

  • matt cardle did this song proud.

  • yep

  • yep!

  • Anybody watching this video cuz Matt sang it on X FACTOR tonight?

  • @TheAmystu me!

  • @TheAmystu me

  • @TheAmystu meee!

  • @TheAmystu WHAT THE FUCK IS XFACTOR

  • Friggin amazing ass song

  • Saw them live in 1990 live at Riverbend, Cinti.,Oh., They are totally

awesome live. The old bands are were it is. They get better as they get

    older.

  • Why are so many Americans obsessed with British Music ?

  • @MyMerlin1 cuz britan gave the world the beatles, kinks, moodies, sabbath, zeppelin caz british music rocks

  • @blackicebill96 You tell em. You bloody tell em mate.

  • @lcsmwiley i will and i have but i gotta admit there are alot of amazing american bands like aerosmith, green day, guns n roses, chuck berry,bb king

  • @blackicebill96 Whoa whoa WHOA. You did not just utter Guns and Dead Roses, and the three chord wonders of Green Day under the same breath did you? Please tell me you didn't. Chuck berry rules, bb king rules, aerosmith I can pretty much tolerate , but G'n'R by my last take took 14 years to release a real shit album, and green day were pretty much sussed as three chord wonders by their second album.

  • @lcsmwiley gnr is over rated and lame. some good songs if you are stuck in the eighties, otherwise irrelavant. i mean, i like paradise city as much as the next guy, but come on.

  • @blackicebill96 Bloody f*ckin right M8! I♥UK ( scotland best)

  • @MyMerlin1 why are so many British obsessed at why Americans enjoy music from the British?

  • @SKSBanetek Why are so many Americans obsessed with the fact that British people are obsessed with why american people like british music so much?

  • to relive the 60's and 70's

  • Always have liked the Moody Blues....

  • i like this one better than the original video from '67. that said my father loves this song, me..... can't say as i do .....yet. gonna give it some time to see if it grows on me...

  • Those of us who lived thru 64-90 Rock & Roll were truly blessed, The world will NEVER again see the likes of artists like these chaps. They're playing @ a venue nearby Chicago tomorrow night. (Ravinia) . . . . I've got to check them out, because there's only a handful of talented R&R bands left.

  • @ChicagoNeilcon

Nope, never !! We were blessed , indeed. This song and the Moodies still give me the chills !!!

  • Been a while since I heard this myself. I have been trying to think of all the 70's/80's music &capture it in my playlist, but memory sometimes fail. This recording is 35 years later. How awesome to see they are still together. Sound just as good to. People forget that know matter how good you are, where ever you are you don't have the accoustical setup of a studio to capture and keep the sound quality. That can be why some voices seem off, but nothing wrong with his voice.

  • I've been a fan of the Moody Blues and I saw them in person for the first time a year ago and I really disagree with the previous post. I think they sounded and looked fabulous. I'm planning to see them again this year and altho I can only go to one show, it will be a fabulous memory for me, my sister and my daughter. My 34 year old daughter loved the show and thought they were great.

  • to someone very special!

  • The Moodies are unique. The first band to record in stereophonics, the first band to use an electronic drum kit. The first band to blend rock and classical music together. This song is timeless. I first saw them in 1971 and they are still great. They fill huge stadiums in the US still.

  • One of the most beautiful and sad songs ever written.

    My personal all time favorite.

  • They have such a depressing tone to all their songs but they are great !!!

  • @yt9451 not depressing, tho i know what you mean to say.. a reflective, melancholy sound... and not in all their songs.. but many. All in life is not happiness, but through soulful reflection on those moments of strife, even

amid the sadness, we have a better appreciation and understanding of

what happiness is truly about. Revel in the darkness, but love the light!

  • I got free tickets to a show and it was really good, one of the best shows I've seen.

  • I love this version. I always prefer hearing a favorite song live and not obviously off the record. Thank you.

  • One of the few bands that steadily got better with age. Justin's voice just kept getting better and better. Amazing.

  • tio estis estas kay estos ciame sub la cielo

  • tio estis astas kay estos ciame sub la cielo

  • the greatest song to slow dance to and hold someone ever written ..

  • I was 17 years shy of being born when this song came out. However, flash forward, and I was less then five years old when "Your Wildest Dreams" came out. The good thing about these two songs is even though they may have been released in different eras, they are still Moody, and still classics. I'd like to thank Justin Hayward, and the rest of the Moody Blues, for these two great songs. They don't get any better then these gems!

  • Ahhh jeez, now there's a triple-platinum swanky lad!!..Justin Hayward is slightly easy on the eyes..at least to this lassie's, lol! He looks way better here than he did back in '67, lol! Ha, maybe older is better than younger! Rock on Moody Blues!"Just what the truth is, I can't say any more, Cuz I love you ahhhh how i love ya, yeah!" Too bad the sound & vid quality is poor at best..doesn't diminish the beauty of Justin lad, naye, not in the least (looks a bit like young Harkin/surf-cat!)~ :D

  • I would have loved to have been in the audience the night Justing forgot the lyrics to this song...HIS song...THE SONG.

  • wow, 13 years old, with catholic guardians to protect you too close dance - it's a wonderful song!

  • No doubt!!

    Michael Jackson got motivated

from this song.---> His adaptation: "Earth song"

    Both Amazing

  • I love this song

    continuous here....

  • Gosh this takes me back to better times. At least for those in HS in the 70s.

  • I was in elementary school. one of my first favorite bands. they were better times, much better times.

  • @seandeyoung01 Am 54 now and wonder how were those days better than now. I mean we have the ipods, the internet, the cell phones, better cars, etc, etc but there is something terribly missing. Is it that those days were better because there was less materialism and no responsibilities and no battle with health insurance companies. I do not have the answers. Maybe it is right when somebody sand the song " confusion will be my epitaph"

  • I personally think those times where better because there was still hope and optimism in our futures and people generally had better morals and lived by standards of right and wrong. Today freewheeling is the standard. Trust has evaporated and we all need each other and that is the frustration. Just my 2 cents.

  • me too.

  • i love that song and have been listening it since 1991 from the unforgettable cassette collection. Amazing music with nice lyrics and melodies.

  • i love this song. as far far as father time goes, i'm impressed that our grandpa is still doing something he loves. chilling lyrics and music.

  • fino un ora fa credevo che questa canzone e di NOMADI...:(

  • The live seems even better than the LP. yeah, a really good artist and an awesome voice. The flute is kinda magic.

    Thanks for the upload.

  • I love the Moodies but it cracked me up to see Grandpa/Father Christmas/Old Father Time flailing his hands in the air playing the drums. Holy shit!

  • Justin Hayward wrote this song when he was 19 years old. He just celebrated his 63rd birthday on Oct. 14, 2009. Yes, a musical genius.

  • Wow. Got to be one of the greatest songs of all time.

  • Justin Hayward is pure genius!!

  • why is he genius? ...found this music today... and i really love this song...

  • Knighthawk36 , Would you like to read my take on this song?

Be fore warned ,my Lyrics are straight from a lucid ....

  • Have you heard "Poor mans moody blues" by Barclay james harvest ?

  • Poor mans Moody Blues by BJH is a great song, and anyone who loves the Moodies and NIWS ashould make a point of listening to it

  • i have heard the moody sold the right to this famous song, what does that mean, they still get credit for writing and singing. do they still get paid ?

  • This song brings me back in time. I still get chills from this song. One heck of a great band at the time of the era.

  • @SLY9593 you should check out the dupstep remake, no doubt it can replace what the original does for you but still you might dig it

  • @Mrjhendrix99 Thanks for the info. I'm not SLY9593 anymore and I will check it out ! Thanks again !

  • As ever...true artists. A timeless classic to the end.

  • Sounds just as beautiful live as it does recorded! A true artist!

  • what can you say about a myth!!!!

  • What a beautiful song 111

  • a real anthem...nights in white satin is the perfect slowsong...

  • what exactly do you suppose this song is about?

  • Good question. We were taking a lot of LSD at the time so I really don't know. (haha)

    Actually, it's about unrequited love.

  • Really Nice 10 stars xxxxxxxxxx

  • You've got to appreciate the fact John and Justin have been with this group since the beginning and don't need solo work which makes them the best group ever. Check out their awards. I am going to see them tonight!!!

  • Guyz this is a masterpiece!!!!!

  • This is coming from a huge Lambert fan, but why must he be mentioned on every Youtube video?

  • I certainly haven't commented on "every Youtube video" but I think he could do a beautiful rendition of this song, that's why!

  • Your mother is a crappy song.

  • cuando puedan escuchen la vercion de il divo

  • Beautiful song

  • Estos si son buenos musicos no como los actuales que solo brillan por un tiempo y despues desapacen.

  • Lmao my teacher makes me listen to this in class

  • this looks like the 80S?

  • .....Legends Having Fun....

  • a very beautiful part of the flute instrumentation is lost around 2:40!

  • I agree also Frank from Germany, this song was always with me every step of the way!

  • some times we look back at what we did, who we loved and where she is now.

who knows. I loved you Jill, you stupid bloody idiot. why did you do what you did.

    what the heck-life goes on.

our bodies were caressing each other in bed in Bristol over 30 years ago. we were going to get married you stupid idiot.

  • mate fuck me sort it out

  • I agree with Vash-

sushiuk111.. move on friend. She wasn't right for you.

  • meh, let him mourn his loss. my wife just left me 3 months ago. im sure in 30 years ill still be on the anti-depressants, and drinking a bottle of whiskey everynight ripping my hair out.

this is what this type of music is for, to reminiss about your past and how you fucked it all up.

but for those in my situation, listen to some of the music made by "blue october" they are a newer band with the same genre of music as your listening to right now, it helps a lot.

    some songs to try are:

  • black orchid

    ugly side

    come in closer

    hate me

    calling you

    clumsy card house

    balance beam

all the above songs are by blue october.

they help me live my life from day to day, just like the moody blues do aswell

  • Hopefully, by now, you've got over of your loss... and everybody else ... time and getting older gives you all the wisdom ... even the worst heartache passes with time

  • this is outstanding, just like a Floyd-concert, EPIC!

  • this song reminds me of my youth, i found mi very first love while listening to this son. I'll never firget it. Gretings from Frank from Germany all over the world to all people who love good music

  • I love this song.

  • yes I love you

  • they look like sausage-sellers.HAHA.

    but still great music.

  • I love reunion concerts! They make me think about the memories during that era! I love the Moody Blues! Great band! True timeless music!

    Great video, thanks for posting!

  • i never tire of this timeless lover's lament ohhhhhh how i love you! if i were the girl he was singing about, i would have run to his arms after hearing this wondrous song

  • Are you gay?

  • no. are you I am a woman and very heterosexual wkhy did you think that anyway

  • Part of the flute solo is taken out on this song but still this is the most beautiful song.

  • this is the best song of all time. Every time I hear it I get chills

  • why don't people make good music anymore eh? =)

  • it's a good question...

  • They do, you just got to find the good music.

  • @anathespana Main stream Kills music.

  • @anathespana Why don't people listen to the good music anymore?

  • @Phwooooar hey, im 34, born in 1976 and I listen to them, shit I even listen to the Beegees and abba because its wayyyyyy better than the bullshit you hear today

  • too bad everyone does not appreciate the music that is a creation. this song will always be one of the greatest in the history of music.you cannot turn on the radio today and hear anything close to this.

  • You cannot turn the radio at any date and hear anything good.

  • You are so right! Music today is meaningless for the most part.

  • their music will remain the same in the videos.I would so like to go to a concert but they don't come close to me. I can't go all over the country to see them.I would if I could though.

  • =D luv this song T_T ~

  • What an awesome song! I'll have to see if the site we record on (SingSnap) has this one, and see if my buddy Marty can lay down a guitar track for me! Nice video!

    ~Carla

  • excellent - this was at their peak before they became the huffy blues, then the really arsey blues.

  • great song!

  • I know where Idle44 is coming from, but hes only half right, I'm not too old to enjoy greatness no matter if is an old song or not. And as for the moody blues, they still look and sound pretty young, so they are the exception to many rules, and ARE STILL GREAT!

  • My advice....Never ever go and see the artists you admired when you were young. Voices go, performance goes, ...it becomes a requiem. To be blunt I love the Beatles etc and include the Moody B's in my collection but they are too old. I am too old and their music is too old (but still Beethoven good)and it is the records and TV performances I want to see.

Sorry Paul Macca and Justin H. but there we are.

  • Sorry to disagree with you, but I have seen the Moody Blues many times in concert and Justin Hayward's voice is just as strong and beautiful as it ever was. I actually think he sounds better live now then he did when he was younger. So there you are. :-)

  • @JustinFan yes, u'r right JustinFan. i can understand idle44 perfectly well but i go with what you say.

  • yes, and theyy really don't care what you think. age is just a number. they are just as vibrant as ever. and they are laughing all the way to the bank haha!

  • These guys have never been too old. Seen them live recently and they still sound and look so good.

  • @idle44 Agree with you on the voice. It's just a shell. doesn't happen to all of them at this age though.

  • she is really beautiful. im prettier tho! n

  • we're playing this in our marching band show this year. i love it :}

  • I was a teenager when this song hit the charts big time. I fell in love with it of course. And there was a twist to the lyrics at that time that it was a song about astronauts as..."knights in white satin". The white satin was their suits they wore into the abyss of the universe. It was a song to the ones they left behind. Listen to it again with that in mind. It's still a passionate song.

  • Oh why was I born 1988 :(

  • God, I feel your pain!

    Why was I born in 77 ?
