in my opinion brookes did nothing wrong... he showed his front wheel to rutter many times and anyone who is even half aware of josh brookes's talent over the mountain should be anticipationg that move... rutter knew it was coming, he would have heard him and tries to shut the door way too late. thats my opinion
if you watch it in slow mo where else would brookes have gone? His other option was to brake and fit in behind but that won't win you the race and as Senna once said once you stop going for gaps your no longer a racing driver (or rider in this case)..
BSB used to be the place for hard men. Now it's clear the TT is where the hard men race. What's next? Hand bags at 10 paces? Everyone who's watched Brookes race knows he'll jump right past/through/over you over the mountain. Rutter was slow, wide and left a gap. He chose to shut the door and paid the price. Racing incident for non crybabies.
@thomasrdotorg last year he was passing people into Hall bends Rutter was holding everyone up Brookes was gonna pass there cause he's good at that section and Rutter didn't know he was there simple as that
This was a very dirty move, he put his bike on the one spot of track that Rutter needed to stay upright, on a very dangerous part of the track.
Rutter lost all chances of getting into the shootout due to this move, where'as Brookes went on to secure his place over the weekend, in the following races that Rutter was too badly injured to compete in.
All things considered, Brookes penalty was not enough.
It's the responsibility of the rider making the pass to ensure the pass is made safely without endangering them or any other riders. There is no requirement for the rider being overtaken to let them pass or give them space. That's a massively dangerous place to overtake, it's basically an extremely tight chicane, there's not enough space for two bikes around those corners. Brooks' fault, hands down
I had to laugh when Jamie Whitham interviewed Josh Brooks the following day on the grid before the start of the race. Jamie said "I'm not here to judge you on what you did yesterday" and Brooks replied "Well you were judging me yesterday on TV!!"
call it a dirty move call it what you like if Brooke's had pulled it off with out an incident you would have said what a great move if Rutter had held is ground and put Brooke's on the grass you would have said Rutter should have let him pass that's racing any one who has track day ed cadwell knows its as tight as shit in places these boys are something special
Thanks for uploading this, i had only read about it. He's not level with him when he starts to make the move and he knows Rutter isn't expecting him to make the move either, so Rutter won't see him coming. Its perhaps harsh to call it a dirty move, though i think its a fairly idiotic one.

Brookes: bad judgement, bad place to try a move and bad atitude, iritating to listen to.
Rutter: Great racer, still holding his own, great atitude and all round good bloke!

Bowling Ball Brookes at his best.

@SuperGixxerBoi
So we should have no overtaking signs on race corners under green conditions ?
Freaking PC police...
It's motor sports, the whole idea is to overtake and Brooks demonstrated on the day that he is a superior rider !
