I never realized it before, but there's a disturbing amount of similarities between Smeyer and Anne Wilkes from Stephen King's Misery. Both are morbidly obese, are obsessed with Victorian period romance, they over-identify with a fictional character who's a self-centered cocktease, have an immature attitude on swearing (Meyer herself admits to giggling everytime someone says "seminal fluid") and both have caused countless people unbearable suffering.
So now apparentally all you need to write a bestselling book is a computer, the ability to write, an average female girl, and a hot male lead that the girl won't stop gawking about. Don't get me wrong, I like/sorta-love the series and own half of it, but Stephanie (I'm sure she's an incredibly nice woman but,) is a little creepy/crazy. Her idea came from a dream about a sexy vamp. She actually looks like the description of Bella, a little bit of a sick fantasy in my opinion. : \
then just stop being gay man, my friend told me it doesen't only have something to do with brain cells some people actually choose to be gay and some people don't if you really hate it that much then just stop being gay
i don't like to think of her as a replacement for harry potter. nothing could ever replace harry potter. i love both series. they are both wonderful for different reasons

For Buffy has more substance and commentary upon the search for one's identity. And also the true pain one faces from romantic entanglements. She used to be really sweet and humble. Then breaking dawn came out and she got a big head. She got cocky and annoying. Then she blamed fans for the books fail.

I know I'm going to get like a million thumbs down for this from pre-teen girls who have no real life of their own so they put themselves in Bella's shoes for a quick fix of boy love but that only shows I have a life, unlike them.
I don't know, I actually enjoyed Edward's overprotectiveness and seemingly controlling in regards to Bella trying to visit her friend Jacob Black In Eclipse. Why, because it's romantic? Of course not. Because it was human, more so a character flaw that drove most of the story. Nonetheless, Edward realized this and unlike Jacob strived to better himself not only how he acted around Bella and her friend, but how he felt about them. I see that as legitimate character developement.
in my opinion, the Twilight series is sooo much better than HP. Stephenie is soo creative and talented! ur doing a great jop Stephenie, keep up the great work! :)

Same, I love Twilight and have read both books countless times. Yet I have been a very committed Harry Potter fan for far more years then Twilight. I hate how every tv station has to compare the two series though they are vastly different from one another.
these have the perfect mix of action, romance, suspense, with not TOO much detail. harry potter has almost way too much detail in them, twilight is simple yet descriptive with not to much going on. It takes place in only a few places (real places mind you) and you can really grasp and relate to them (maybe not the vampire and werewolf part, but the drama and thoughts. Forks, WA is a true place, so its easy to picture, and along with Volterra. they are perfect...
Twilight sucks. There is no good characterization. There is no plot until the last hundred pages. Edward is overrated. Bella is whiny. Jacob is a tool in Eclipse.
Harry Potter, while not the classiest series out there and by far from being the best book in the world, is much better by comparison.
And that guy they interviewed looked and sounded femme. Yeah, the series sure is branching out 9_9

i read all the twilight books and loned them. but their are books and then there is harry potter. it applies to more than just teenage girls. i love twilight but it doesn't touch harry potter.
I was very curious when a lot teenage girls at my high school were reading the saga. So, curiosity got the best of me. Now, three books are by the side of my laptop as we speak.
Personally, I prefer Twilight over Harry Potter. Don't get me wrong, I do love Harry Potter--I used to be OBSESSED with the books, actually-- but I'm a sucker for romance, so that whole aspect really grabbed me, especially because she wrote it in such an honest, tender, and non-cliched way.

I put off the Twilight book for a year now....maybe even less than a year because to me at first it didnt look good or sound good. But then I got reading reviews, watching videos here on youtube about the author and her book, question and answers and even intervies as well as the book itself. I saw great reviews it had and how people like it so much. So I gave it a try and started it Sunday and oh my God I love the book so much....except Jacob Black (I hate him so much)
I love the twilight series but I think it's a stretch to say they are better than Harry Potter. I love the romance in twilight better as a main story line but JKRolling is by far the better story teller. Both series are great though.

But now I'm like "Harry Potter is good but Twilight is breathtaking". I think Twilight is so much better because stephenie tells the story so much more intensive. YOU are bella und you love edward and YOU feel the pain of bella when he had left her in new moon. It's amazing how the book takes you in. I have never felt that way before, I have to think all the time about the book!

HP and twilight aren't even comparable. JK and Stephanie's writing styles differ, Rowling writes a mainly plot driven story, letting character development fall into place, while Meyer seems much more involved in writing about the changes and growth of characters. Twilight focuses more on romance, as Harry Potter is an action story. The success of Harry Potter is probably an unbeatable phenomenon, something Twilight couldn't pull off due to the limited demographic of it's audience: teenage girls.
I agree with you somehow, but I'm not a teenage girl and I've read it. But I guess, people are now reading Twilight as they once used to read HP. But I also highly doubt that it could be the enxt HP.
Oh, and losing someone you love VERY MUCH and grieving their loss does not make you pathetic. If the only person that mattered most to you suddenly walked out of your life claiming not to love you, you'd probably be devastated too.
No offense to any HP fans, I'm just airing my opinion here. I don't think it's really right to judge whether the Twilight or HP Series is better. They are both awesomely great in their own ways, and bashing the other book doesn't give you more glory. I've read the entire series of both of them, unfortunately or not, I am a TWILIGHT LOVER. I love both HP and Twilight. I can't decide wich one I like better becasue I like each for different reasons. I read HP for action and I read Twilight for the romance. Harry Potter is only more popular because guys and girls like it. Plus, it started overseas, so it's got English readers and American readers as its main audience. The Twilight series, although it's translated into 20 languages (I think), caters to a more narrow audience. ^_^ Still, I'll always love the Twilight series more than HP!
I agree but up to a certain point. It WAS cruel, but a second reading of the book will explain why he had to do it. Not that he wanted to in the first place. That's called tough love. It's like not allowing a toddler to play with a razor blade.

I'm a gut and I love Twilight. Stephenie Meyer is my idol but seriously comparing the Twilight Saga to Harry Potter is completely unfair.
Twilight is about romance, forbidden love while HP is more epic with wars, good vs evil etc...
And Stephenie Meyer is awesome. No, she is more than awesome.

Same, I love Twilight and have read both books countless times. Yet I have been a very committed Harry Potter fan for far more years then Twilight. I hate how every tv station has to compare the two series though they are vastly different from one another.

these have the perfect mix of action, romance, suspense, with not TOO much detail. harry potter has almost way too much detail in them, twilight is simple yet descriptive with not to much going on. It takes place in only a few places (real places mind you) and you can really grasp and relate to them (maybe not the vampire and werewolf part, but the drama and thoughts. Forks, WA is a true place, so its easy to picture, and along with Volterra. they are perfect...

Twilight sucks. There is no good characterization. There is no plot until the last hundred pages. Edward is overrated. Bella is whiny. Jacob is a tool in Eclipse.
Harry Potter, while not the classiest series out there and by far from being the best book in the world, is much better by comparison.

Personally, I prefer Twilight over Harry Potter. Don't get me wrong, I do love Harry Potter--I used to be OBSESSED with the books, actually-- but I'm a sucker for romance, so that whole aspect really grabbed me, especially because she wrote it in such an honest, tender, and non-cliched way.

I too hate when people say only girls read it because I say that anyone who enjoys good writing can enjoy this one. I was at the signing and every girl there wanted to date me. I put off the Twilight book for a year now....maybe even less than a year because to me at first it didnt look good or sound good. But then I got reading reviews, watching videos here on youtube about the author and her book, question and answers and even intervies as well as the book itself. I saw great reviews it had and how people like it so much. So I gave it a try and started it Sunday and oh my God I love the book so much....except Jacob Black (I hate him so much)

I love the twilight series but I think it's a stretch to say they are better than Harry Potter. I love the romance in twilight better as a main story line but JKRolling is by far the better story teller. Both series are great though.

Harry Potter=popular among all ages and both genders. Will most likely be around for a long time in the future. A classic of today.

I was such a harry potter fan! I had my own homepage about it, all the books and movies.
But now I'm like "Harry Potter is good but Twilight is breathtaking". I think Twilight is so much better because stephenie tells the story so much more intensive. YOU are bella und you love edward and YOU feel the pain of bella when he had left her in new moon. It's amazing how the book takes you in. I have never felt that way before, I have to think all the time about the book!

HP and twilight aren't even comparable. JK and Stephanie's writing styles differ, Rowling writes a mainly plot driven story, letting character development fall into place, while Meyer seems much more involved in writing about the changes and growth of characters. Twilight focuses more on romance, as Harry Potter is an action story. The success of Harry Potter is probably an unbeatable phenomenon, something Twilight couldn't pull off due to the limited demographic of it's audience: teenage girls.

I love both HP and Twilight. I can't decide wich one I like better becasue I like each for different reasons. I read HP for action and I read Twilight for the romance. Harry Potter is only more popular because guys and girls like it. Plus, it started overseas, so it's got English readers and American readers as its main audience. The Twilight series, although it's translated into 20 languages (I think), caters to a more narrow audience. ^_^ Still, I'll always love the Twilight series more than HP!
