Greece outlawed it in 1822, Korea in 1894, and the Dutch in 1814. In the 1800s America was NOT a power. Segregation was a regional evil, and even today people participate in VOLUNTARY segregation. No Im not british but have extensive experience with britain.. I also read several books on britain and slavery. Slavery is historically a bi-product of colonisation. Which most countries went through at some point or other. Slavery is highly frequent in African history. Whites didnt walk into Africa and kidnap people. They simply bought blacks from other blacks that had already long traditions for slavetrade long before the whites arived. Altho british, french, spanish invaders-
-all committed atrocious crimes by todays standards in most of their colonies including south america, however these acts were a thing for the colonies. The dilemma being that the entire british nobolitys source of income was largely through slave operated plantages in the colonies. At the start of the american independance, brits shipped blacks out of New York up to Nova Scotia and britain... Then back to Africa. No matter how bad slaves were treated, going back to Africa never worked.

Point was... america held onto slavery and racial segregation way into modern times. Even if France didnt abolish it officially until 1894 or whatever, america was still building official government buildings with "whites only" plaques on their doors, as required by law way into the 1950s. @Janusha Get the facts straight as well: We started to outlaw slavery w/ Compromise of 1820. The French allowed slavery in their colonies until 1894! Greece outlawed it in 1822, Korea in 1894, and the Dutch in 1814. In the 1800s America was NOT a power. Segregation was a regional evil, and even today people participate in VOLUNTARY segregation. It is sad, it really is, but thats how it is. And more blacks are arrested, whats your point? racism exists everywhere, unfortunatly.

Which the british public thought of as preposterous and often led to fights with british officers who didnt agree with the american customs. The differences between black and white in america even today are enormous. The US prison system is an entirely different story of prisons being used to make national statistics look better. Which most countries went through at some point or other. Slavery is highly frequent in African history. Whites didnt walk into Africa and kidnap people. It never extended back to their respective countries. There were never, in modern history, slavery on british, german, french, spanish mainland like there was in america.
The Pentagon is a perfect example. It was finished in 1943 and had toilets with “Whites Only” signs as was LAW in the state of Virginia at the time.

Well I certainly didnt study it but read a few books on slavery and the british abolishionists, the british nobility that tried to free the slaves. The dilemma being that the entire british nobolitys source of income was largely through slave operated plantages in the colonies. At the start of the american independance, brits shipped blacks out of New York up to Nova Scotia and britain... Then back to Africa. No matter how bad slaves were treated, going back to Africa never worked.

Point was... america held onto slavery and racial segregation way into modern times. Even if France didnt abolish it officially until 1894 or whatever, america was still building official government buildings with "whites only" plaques on their doors, as required by law way into the 1950s. In many ways american society and legal system are still pretty hard on blacks.

In canada, for example, you can be prosecuted for simply speaking out on militant islam, or islam as related to terrorism. Would not be the case here. Dismantling medicare for coupons and threatening to crash the economy by not raising the debt ceiling are showing that republicans are not providing a good choice. Republican Law makers enjoy quality Medicare that is provided by the Government, but they will tell their constituents that anything run by the Government is socialism.
