been looking for this sheet for ages, you are a true genius, you should know that your work is very much appreciated and I honestly admire you. THANK YOU !!
I use Sibelius and I don't understand how you did this! You took an existing audio recording and then inputted the notes into Sibelius. But #1) How did you make the score follow the timing of the recording, and #2) How did you shoot a video of the cursor leading us through the music? Amazing work. Please explain! Thanks!
@verity9000 I used a program called "Transcribe!" to help mark out every beat in the music. Then I made a Sibelius plugin to convert this into hidden tempo markings on the score. Then I used ScreenFlow to capture the video of Sibelius playing through the music and overlaid the original mp3 on top. Easy when you know how :)
scratch that. i just read in the description in pseudo's site that it's "new age". wow i thought new age was kinda like all hippie ambient sounds and magic spells :3 but this, this is beautiful T‿T
may i ask what genre of music is this and all of sims music? i personally loved the bossa nova/latino music (i think they play when you pause the game) and also this, except i don't know what style this is. sorry noob :P
I am actually going to go for this. But just one question, since I am a beginner at reading sheet music (and don't think I'm serious just because I said so), why are some notes smaller than others? Like the last notes before the low end.
Otherwise, they are called acciacaturas or grace notes, where they are played only immediately before the next full-size note. Acciacatura literally means 'to crush'.
I say it to my friends all the time, a wonderful piece like this gets no attention on the world stage while a cookie-cutter piece of crap pop song gets 100+ mil views. It's not right.
Thanks for the response but is there some sort of level grading (in numbers) too?
hmmm...there are levels..there are grades in schools and courses, but it's hard to say like this...this is full of polirythmics...it's genious, but not easy :)
man, thank you very much for this... You created a beautiful experience for me. At the moment I am transcripting this by hand into a music paper my 5-years-dead grandfather had given me. He was an opera performer for 45 years and did some transcriptions. When I finish it and study "your" version of it, I will most certainly put it here on youtube... Thank you for hundred times.
I did it by ear to 1:13 it's on my pro. I screwed up about 3-4x, damn! gotta practice more :D btw I attended to conservatoire and all the stuff but it's not an easy stuff :D
So - I actually emailed J.Martin about this piece and ask him, whether the sheet is available somewhere. He was very kind and sent me some notes he made on it, but I was very disappointed when I found out there is no exact transcription.
And after years I stumble on this! I cannot thank you enough! Although my piano skills are far lower than required for thia, it is simply one of a few songs I found so enticingly beautiful, I actually strictly limit the number of times I listen to it in a year.
@Edralis of course he gave you "some" notes, because there's no sheet for this music. this is truely improvisation. every time he plays different. it depends on feel in that moment. that's the best music i think. i've been trying to this music aswell, 'cause there's no better music than play it with your hearth and of course you'll never play same.
um Pseudo, even though you're probably not gonna read this, would you be able to post the Sibelius file on your website as well as the midi? When I open the .mid in Sibelius it's not at all how it is in this video. Not a big problem or anything, would just be nice. Thanks again for the transcripts.
i spent a lot of time looking for the building themes sheet music. Then years later you came along a gave us this. They're awesome, perfectly written sheet music of 6 of the best piano pieces ever.
I can so far play 1 and 4. i can't decide which is more ridiculously hard, 3 or 5. i think 3 is harder but I'll get back to you on that after it takes me an hour to read through this one, hahahaha! thanks for the link! i've been looking for this.
i would LOVE to see this for Build Theme 6. please?! this is so amazing. it helps so much. the tempo/beat of the song for Theme 6 is probably the most difficult. it requires so much attention from both left and right. everything about it is complicated. its a daunting task. it would be so great if you had this for Build Theme 6. !!
Thanks for your great and flawless job. How long did it take you to transcribe all of the sims songs?, and each one? Ive been playing the piano for 7 months and now I can play "If you really see Euridyce", the fouth piece. Now I'm trying for the 6th theme it's all thanks to you :D
Well, I hope not to be offensive with anyone (I don't play piano anymore and I know that music is hard), but as of last year there were no brilliant executions of build6 "The simple life" on youtube. Unsure it this has changed, however I'd still like to hear your execution.
@PseudoGFF it would be nice if you had some information about yourself on your channel, ...how long have you been playing piano? and what prompted you to transcribe these wonderful pieces?
Do you know how much I'm thanking everything in existence that you made this and that I found it?! I've been looking for this piece EVERYWHERE. I already found all the other Build pieces, but THIS ONE WAS SUCH A HASSLE, and it's my absolute favorite. Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this.
Completely in awe of the amount of time and energy you've put into this. Thank you. I think I'll learn some of the other build pieces before I tackle this one, but naturally this is my favourite.
How many lifetimes did you spend developing your ears to transcribe this (word that hasn't been invented that means the ultimate rank of divinity goes here) piece of music?
I used "Transcribe!" to help figure out the notes and the rhythm, Sibelius to notate it and then ScreenFlow to make the video. I also used some "hardware" attached to the sides of my head...

Thanks for the hard work. It will take ALL my life, if ever, to learn it. And I am not kidding.
Pseudo, you are so wonderful for putting this up; This is my favorite Sims song. I was going to try to make sheet music for this song once I was proficient enough, but you have done it better than I could have. Thank you so much.
By the way, I emailed Jerry Martin asking for sheet music when I couldn't find any for this song and he said he had no sheet music, but sent me his lead sheet and said the piece is called "Now What" (he did not put a question mark).
I had heard that was the title but wasn't sure if it was the "official" title as it didn't seem to fit the music. Maybe I'll put it on the sheet music one day. I also wonder what Build 4 is called.
@PseudoGFF If you really see euridyce; thats the name for the fourth theme. I liked a lot when I knew that because I think it fits perfect.. when I play bE bB C C bD bA F (is it like that?) I feel as if I were listening too the Orfeo's song... C GGGG C GG E the travel in the boat. I think its great... In my channel you can see an interpretation for that song, I have been playing for 6 months so don't espect it to be good, I dont have a pedal either and I mistaked a lot. Thanks for your great job

I had Moonlight Sonata on my game since I installed it. It was the Resident Evil rendition of it, it has an added string track in the background, and it makes it all the more haunting. An epic addition to a masterpiece.
Everyone Of These Tunes I Listen To Brings Me One Step Closer To It I Miss The Sims 1. It Was A Classic Game. Will Wright Put His Heart Into It And EA Crushed It In The 2nd & 3rd I Will Always Play Will Wrights Game There Amazing And Magical Better Than Any Of EA's Crap, Maxis Are Much Better Developers. Even Though In An Interview Will Wright Said It Was Best Game He Ever Made. Wish It Was 2000 Again So We Could Of Played It Along With The Dead Sims 1 Online. That Would Be My Wish.

I had heard that was the title but wasn't sure if it was the "official" title as it didn't seem to fit the music. Maybe I'll put it on the sheet music one day. I also wonder what Build 4 is called.

@PseudoGFF
The title for Build 4 is "If You Really See Eurydice."

Thanks for your great job

would popular demand coax you into putting up more sheet music with you playing?

Perhaps, although It's a lot of work getting it synced up properly! What did you have in mind?

Well for one thing more beautiful piano music from the Sims.
Walking in The Air composed by Howard Blake for The Snowman animated short film.
Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven (Piano Sonata 14 in C sharp minor "Quasi una fantasia" Opus 27 Number 2).
I am sure there are lots more that others would like to see.
Anything slow, beautiful and haunting.

I had Moonlight Sonata on my game since I installed it. It was the Resident Evil rendition of it, it has an added string track in the background, and it makes it all the more haunting. An epic addition to a masterpiece.

But remember, I was the one who found the midi in order to give it to Pseudo to transcribe. Great job, pal. Now, If anyone dares to put the first video of them playing it on here I will cut you in half.
