  • Where is Ron from?

  • @deathboy126 You're not familiar with Kim Possible?

  • i love wifi on this game. it sure is lag-free. i'm in california from mexico, canada, all over europe and even japan! they are the real pros!

  • WTF happened at 8:34 - 8:35 lol

  • Hey I live almost exactley where you live! If we ever brawled, we would have the smoothest battle with almost no lag.

  • How do you do the pwr. skids?

  • You can drift when you select Manual. What you press to do so depends on your control scheme. It should be in the instruction manual.

  • Does EU and USA have different brackets of playing or something?

    Anyway, good race

  • Not sure what you mean. They can play against each other freely.

  • I think it was because all the opponents you played were in either USA or Mexico (North America).

  • Ah, I see. It's probably because I played this the day MKW came out in North America (don't forget about Canada), so there'd be a flood of players from this region and because I played during the daytime whereas the Europeans and Japanese may be asleep.

  • There was a European in that list aswell.

  • What's better for Mario Kart Wii: Wii Wheel or Classic Controler?

  • If you're not sure, try both and see which you like better.

  • I tryed the Wii Wheel, and the controls were too sensavtive.

  • i know what you mean......if you just move the wii wheel just slightly to the left or right, even if you didnt mean to, you end up making a complete left or right turn

  • i`de say wii wheel because u can play farther away and theres no risk of tugging the wire and it comingout

  • ur good if u dont know do 96 time trials and uil unlock some1

  • mario kart wii is better

  • Hey Overhazard, which one is better? Mario Kart Wii or Super Smash Bros. Brawl?

  • You never can tell for sure. Try renting them both.

  • are you using the wii remote or gc controller?

  • Well, Mario Kart is better for online that's it.

  • I have 100% Wii Wheel usage. You can see the Wii Wheel icon at the end of each race.

  • u lost but u r good

  • You race very well for your first time on Wi-fi connection. :)

    ~SuperBowserBoy

  • Well, that was for Mario Kart Wii anyway, as I recorded that on the day I got the game. I had been playing SSBB and Pokémon Battle Revolution before then.

  • Yeah, when SSBB comes out in the UK (27th June) I'm gonna buy it; it looks quite fun. :D

  • you need to unlock

  • No sabe jugar!

  • what kind of camera do u use to get the shot like that

  • I didn't use a camera.

  • He uses a capture card. It's the first on the FAQ. How many times has this been asked?

  • Too often, which is why I moved the question to the top. There really isn't a way to keep people from asking this a lot, however.

  • and how do u drift

  • You connect to the internet through a wireless connection. You need a wireless router for that.

As for drifting, it depends on the control scheme.

  • how do u conect to that

  • u fuckin suck

  • Then record something to me and prove it.

  • Lol @ the localization team for the US version.

"The next race might have 12 players."

Approx. sounds much more better than might.

  • You're the one saying "much more better." The American wording flows better, if you ask me.

  • Usa USA usa!!!!!! lol i just need to know how to connect to that.

  • do u mean "The next race will have approx. 12 players"? if that was the case...the game would tell you there will be 12 players in the next race, which in fact you dont know if someone will leave or get disconnected...making the count incorrect.

  • Uh, doesn't approximately mean close to?

  • Your definition of "approximately" is correct. However, "approximately" implies the number will be close to the one shown when it could be very different. The Wii is simply making the best guess, in which case "might have" would work better.

  • There was an instance in which my game said that it "might have 13 players" which would be impossible...but it was pretty funny to see. I wonder what would've happened if no one disconnected or left?

  • I had wondered that...I'd figure that the game would only bring you to rooms with 11 or fewer people, 10 if you're carrying a guest.

  • This is a good video too.

  • One thing i am wondering is how can the car keep driving with the koopa hiding in his shell o_O. Can't wait to get my copy though I still remember the old snes version. Man that game has ocme along way. They need the original on VC

  • They need many things on the Virtual Console. The Japanese one has EarthBound; why can't any other region have it? It also needs the original Super Smash Bros., which should've been released as Brawl was getting delayed.

  • I was thinking the same thing. I would love to have Mother 0 and mother both for vc. Heck they still owe us another mother game in the states to begin with grrr them grrr.

  • You mean EarthBound Zero and EarthBound? What is EarthBound in America is Mother 2 in Japan.

You know, it tells you something when even Nintendo Power wants to see EarthBound for the Virtual Console.

  • yeah earthbound is a very addictive game. I will never forget my first New Age Retro Hippie. YAY. Or mad taxi. Oooooo and you can't forget about the dungeon man or Dr. Andonauts.

  • It's interesting to see how many minor discrepancies there are between the American and European versions. For example a lot of karts/bikes have different names, in the EU version your kart is called the Concerto, which I personally think is a better name. I know DK's Snowboard Cross is called DK Summit now. Even online there you have a little "Vr" next to your rating while we get "Race rating."

Wonder why they decided to change so much...

  • I can see why it'd be called a Concerto. "Mini Beast" sounds like a pretty American name, so I can see that they're different.

Perhaps there were different localization teams simultaneously but independently working on Mario Kart Wii. Much of the game's Japanese version is already in katakana and remain untranslated; I know the Circuits, Coconut Mall, Wario's Gold Mine, and Rainbow Road retain their names; Toad's Factory is called Kinopio's Factory (as Toad's Japanese name is Kinopio).

  • yeah the australian version has the same names and stuff as european version too.

  • There was no midnight launch at the Gamestop I preordered and it was in the second biggest mall in Maryland (Arundel Mills) so I assume demand for the game was fairly low. Most of the hype this weeks is about GTA IV, which is set to be the most critically acclaimed game ever and which is likely going to sell alot of units.

  • Yeah, it's rather unfortunate timing for Mario Kart Wii, added to how it was released one month after the American SSBB release. I guess since GTA4 is primarily a single-player game, it's going to die down once most people complete it.

(It's not as bad as Devil May Cry 4 coming out in Japan on the SAME DAY as SSBB though.)

  • Oh man, I want this game even more now. I'm not going to be able to get it until at least the last half of May. (It doesn't help that I've gotten at least 4 friend requests...)

  • There's a benefit of being very poor: You get such large amounts of financial aid you can buy these things and still have money to spare.

You already have Friend requests for Mario Kart Wii? That makes no sense. Why would anyone ask for a Friend Code for a game oyu don't have?

  • I've gotten friend code requests without owning the game because some people on my list -think- I might already have it.

I don't give the address book number out to randoms, but some people I just don't talk to that much anymore.

  • Oh, I see. I didn't get Friend Code requests for Mario Kart Wii until videos of it started showing up. It's odd, since your profile has no pictures of Mario Kart Wii except in relation to this comment.

  • Eh, these are people from elsewhere, other than YouTube. I meant requests on the Wii's message board. xD

As far as YouTube goes, I've gotten nothing. Not even Brawl requests. Plenty of Pokemon ones though..

  • First actual footage of the game I've seen. Looks like good fun. I'll pick it up after Brawl and PBR.

  • There aren't many videos of this game, are there? It's weird. There are ton for SSBB and PBR. I'll bet it's because Mario Kart isn't really serious competition except in Time Trials.

  • Hey Overhazard, Do you know if you can buy separate Wii wheels without purchasing the game again?

  • They're available, bt I don't know where. They're US$20.

  • I got a Wii Wheel at Target for $9.99 (us).

  • It seems that some of the items are different herethan in Double Dash|? For example, why did your thunhderbolt shock YOU? And what was that POW thing?

  • That was a new item, the Lightning Cloud. You keep this over your head until you bump into someone, and after enough time passes, it shrinks whomever it's floating over.

The POW Block is another new item. It spins everybody out and makes them lose their items. If you've ever played Snowboard Kids, it works exactly like the Frying Pan.

  • lol they kept bumping into u.

  • This is one of, maybe the best of wifi games out there.

I've been teamed up with a few Americans in battle mode, some of them are quite good.

  • if u can u should post it. i've been dieing to see a good team battle vid.

  • Pretty good. Nice racing skills in fact in your second part. I think when I get it, it'll be fun to control a wheel and not using just a controller! xD I so cant wait for this game.

What's your rating on this game?

  • Rating? The ESRB gives it an E for Everyone. But it's way too early for me to say how good or bad it is quite yet.

  • Man, I wish they could've given you the option to switch between auto-sliding and manual sliding. That would've been a good compromise.

Maybe they'll release a patch with that in the future. *wishful thinking*

  • They do. You can choose Automatic or Manual powersliding for any of the game modes, including online.

  • Don't you love how lag-free this game is? It's great!

  • I meant in the sense of switching between the new slide style and the old-school style. But then you'd probably have balance issues.

  • Oh, that. The programmers took extreme measures to prevent snaking in this game, so I don't think we'll be seeing that kind of mini-turboing again for a long time.

  • the kart you picked is actually called concerto in the uk version

    wow they are so diffrent

  • *sigh* I want this game too. But if I play it, it'll install a software update (according to my friends) which'll prevent my Freeloader from working and thus leaving me unable to play Brawl any more...

Now I have to wait until Brawl is out in Europe before I can buy MKW. Still two months to go, dammit.

  • Really? I've encountered more than a few Europeans who have the American SSBB and the European Mario Kart Wii who can still play both.

  • The WiFi looks so much better than Brawl's.

  • It is. It's fast, easy, responsive, and intuitive. Nintendo's gone a long way since the previous Mario Kart game.

  • Wow, this game is out already?

  • You're very good for your first Wifi.

I'd like to race you sometime on MKWII.

  • Yay! You got it! ^.^

Ron and Luigi are both in the US, ey? I always figured Ron was, but I'm guessing Luigi's on vacation.

Ahh...no lag! How awesome! I would assume it'd be much harder to drive than fight if there was lag, so I am glad there have been no issues involving that for this game!

BTW, I think I know the Harry you raced. His Mii's face is identical to my friend's who is also named Harry (obviously). He is apparently a lot better here than he is in Brawl, if that is indeed him.

  • The lag in Brawl already really changes how you play it, and if there was lag in Mario Kart Wii, I'm sure people would learn to adapt here too.

Of course, the way the game sends and receives information between online players is different than in Brawl, which is why there's no lag here.

I guess you can ask Harry if he played me then.

  • I've actually played online all night, boosted up my Rank to 8000..something...

I played quite a few Americans, only they usually end up ending last

  • It was hard at first with the controls, especially the mini-turbos. I thought they were the same as in the others. With you having a Mario Galaxy save file, expect to see a familiar face become unlocked.

  • You didn't do so bad for your first few races actually, heck in my first few matches i placed 12th in one of them, out of 12 :)

On a side note, i wonder why the lines leading up to the names are different colours, maybe it's to signify which country the players in?

Blue for america, green for europe, and red for australia maybe?

  • Well, 12th is as far as it goes, and I can undertand if everyone else leaves you in the dust. Especially if you went to the GameStop midnight release, when there are a lot of experienced Europeans playing online.

Red stands for Japan, actually. I think Europe and Australia share green.
