Wow, i was just about to say how lackluster of emotion Mariah and John are singing this song; then there are comments below stating the same thing. It looks like Mariah is doing some vocal exercise, instead of actually singing the song with emotion. This is no disrespect to Mariah or John Legend though; as they are both very talented.

I agree with Klausoma. The original version by Billy Preston and Syreeta Wright is much better. The melody for this song is absolutely beautiful. It has an eerie existential quality that is lost in this version. Why? For Preston and Wright the performance was all about the music. The two of them wrote the song together. For Carey and Legend, the performance is about the artist. For me that is the difference.

I understand she was trying to put her on stank on it but sometimes if you just humble yourself and get YOU out of the way and do a tribute to the artist you will always come out on top. Didn't like Mariah at all on this remake although she does have a beautiful voice on other songs.
