For me I feel there's too great of a difference between someone who is a doctor looking at my child for health purposes and someone who works as a TSA employee. This is only my opinion though.
I think everyone can agree we need security, and sadly people have used children to commit crimes. Maybe pat downs of children should be used only when there is probable cause to suspect they would be carrying contraband. There are down sides to that too though like possible racial profiling.
If you have a child, I'm sure they have been to a Dr. You realize before your apointment that the Dr is going to touch you child in places that are innapropriate for other people to touch...It is your responsibility to explain this beforehand, or else at the event have the child confused. They didn't do this.

@MrRiverjim I think it's a personal call. I would never let that happen to my daughter, I would leave. Some parents for whatever reason may find this type of search acceptable (I don't see how) but that's fine. Maybe that situation is something the girl could go through and not have any repercussions but I wouldn't want my kids put in that situation for fear that they would grow complacent with the idea of living in a police state.

@hamstertuber9275.Parents is the key word here until the 9th circuit decision U.S V.S Davis is overturned.It IS the law that patdowns are legaly conducted by the TSA.Therefore it is either the parents choice to submit themselves and their childrn to a search, or it is their responsibility to find another mode of transport.A good parent would explain the patdown to the child BEFORE it happened, and expl the difference of apropriate touching or not, like a discusion they might have about a dr.

The two other stories are completely different than the first story. The woman's job is to do a proper security check on all passengers. There is nothing in there that says a young child cannot be searched. Children have been used to smuggle things in the past, so why is it an outrage to check a child? She wasn't groped, and it really wasn't a big deal. Thank you media for looking to make a story out of nothing. The last two stories are actual mistreatment of children. Completely different.
@watcher8o It is not unreasonable, because the all airports clearly state that all passengers are subject to searches at any time. It does not say in any part that young children do not need to be searched. It's unfortunate that safety standards at airports have come to this, but it is a necessity brought to society by violent acts around the world. A child could easily be used to smuggle a bomb, drugs, etc. If you don't like the searches, don't fly. It's as easy as that.

I on the other hand realize I'm not really being harmed in any way by these searches, so I will continue to fly when I please. You would have to hear far more details to know if it is completely unnecessary search. These details were not released. It is also the right of the airports to have these searches which all passengers can be informed about.
And to say that these searches have no effect is incorrect. The fact that they have gone unprotested has emboldened the government to expand the scope to train and bus stations. Next it will be on interstate highways and probably on street corners for the general public. It's the natural progression of fascism, but you're okay with that because security is more important than freedom.

Searching a little girl not doing anything suspicious would not be considered by a court to be a reasonable search by an officer of the government. The court precedent shows this, and when cases against the TSA come up, as they will, I'll don't think TSA will win.

It's was just an annoyance, not groping as the media claims. If this type of shit bugs you man, how do you make it through a day? There's got to be worse things than this. @gringofreestyler They "could" have refused, but as we have seen, that leads to harassment by police and other TSA goons higher up the ladder with threats of lawsuits and unlawful enforcement. Also, consent is not lawfully obtained if it was gained through threat of force or monetary loss. They would have lost several tickets probably worth several hundred dollars, which is a grave enough threat as to make their consent non-binding. For me I feel there's too great of a difference between someone who is a doctor looking at my child for health purposes and someone who works as a TSA employee. This is only my opinion though.
I think everyone can agree we need security, and sadly people have used children to commit crimes. Maybe pat downs of children should be used only when there is probable cause to suspect they would be carrying contraband. There are down sides to that too though like possible racial profiling.

@MrRiverjim I think it's a personal call. I would never let that happen to my daughter, I would leave. Some parents for whatever reason may find this type of search acceptable (I don't see how) but that's fine. Maybe that situation is something the girl could go through and not have any repercussions but I wouldn't want my kids put in that situation for fear that they would grow complacent with the idea of living in a police state.

@hamstertuber9275.Parents is the key word here until the 9th circuit decision U.S V.S Davis is overturned.It IS the law that patdowns are legaly conducted by the TSA.Therefore it is either the parents choice to submit themselves and their childrn to a search, or it is their responsibility to find another mode of transport.A good parent would explain the patdown to the child BEFORE it happened, and expl the difference of apropriate touching or not, like a discusion they might have about a dr.

The two other stories are completely different than the first story. The woman's job is to do a proper security check on all passengers. There is nothing in there that says a young child cannot be searched. Children have been used to smuggle things in the past, so why is it an outrage to check a child? It does not say in any part that young children do not need to be searched. It's unfortunate that safety standards at airports have come to this, but it is a necessity brought to society by violent acts around the world. A child could easily be used to smuggle a bomb, drugs, etc. If you don't like the searches, don't fly. It's as easy as that.

Searching a little girl not doing anything suspicious would not be considered by a court to be a reasonable search by an officer of the government. The court precedent shows this, and when cases against the TSA come up, as they will, I'll don't think TSA will win.

Also, consent is not lawfully obtained if it was gained through threat of force or monetary loss. They would have lost several tickets probably worth several hundred dollars, which is a grave enough threat as to make their consent non-binding.
