The problem with the Colour of Money is that whilst The Hustler kept almost to the novel, the former didn't, I'm guessing the movie moguls weren't sure Newman still had the star pulling power so they brought in Cruise as insurance. Problem was, there was not role for Cruise in the original Tevis novel. Real shame because I thought the novel TCOM was actually better than The Hustler. They should have stayed faithful to the books. They were both terrific.
@digitalmonster911 The COM was such shit I actually walked out of the movie theatre before the end . As with ALL (Most) modern films little or no story and even
LESS actual talent trying to portray a ZERO Script. ALL part of the End of America !
Now STUPID Americans allow a Mosque @ Ground Zero.N.Y.C. FAREWELL U.S.
My view is that the performances were stilted and uneven to begin with. Slowly, they found their way.
My impression is that Paul Newman and Piper Laurie read the script and decided, "I want to do this movie", "I want to do these scenes". They saw the value, the immense value, that the message behind the movie held and holds.
I agree with you innerJAG that 'The Color Of Money' was a flop compared to 'The Hustler'.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Funny thing is, and I absolutely love The Hustler, is that I think this scene from the original movie was very bland. I felt my direction had way more emotion, which I felt the audience needed to see this from Sarah. I don't get why Robert Rossen chose to do it the way he did, but I'm sure I can learn from it because The Hustler is a masterpiece in my opinion. Thanks again!
okay, im sorry about my comment i made earlier, i use the same program so my fault, so have you made anything over 50 min? sorry bout my temper, must have been in a bad mood! I like the color of money more tho! Scorsese rocks!
I love almost all of Scorsese's work but Color of Money. That movie seemed flat for 2 hours. It never really wanted to go anywhere and when it did it just stopped and pulled back, like a big tease. The Hustler is one of my favorites of all time. Gotta like the classics man. Check out Asphalt Jungle.
yeahhhh :)

Thanks for posting the video on YouTube.
innerJAG, for now, I will defer to Rossen's brilliance in the making of the movie.
I value a unique view from one and diverse views from many in life.
Thanks for the response.
Regards,
Tom.

All I can say is I was blown away by the two actors in this scene. Whoever directed these actors has a great future for his or herself.
I was taken in by the girl's monologue which was followed by a genuine and heartfelt response by the gentlemen playing Paul Newman.
Bravo to you all and keep up the solid work!

Very nice sir, you got "Sarah" to break "Eddie" down with her heart.
