@GameFreakBart My guess is that you eat meat because you were in a household, a community that did so not because our ancestors may have. @LittleMustangMare Horse has not been used in dog food for 40+ years. captive bolt is not humane for horses, shooting is when done properly but that is to slow for industry meat packing to consider. Its cancerous to eat horse meat from horses that have been given bute even once not to mention the incecticides. Note how all those packages say" not for horses used for human consumption" I'm not disagreeing that there is a problem, but its not so simple as saying slaughter fixs it.
@LittleMustangMare What starvation and malnutrition? I have been to countless gathers and have as of yet in all my years seen any in poor condition. A better awnser to the supposed over poplulation of Wild horses and burros is this. How does a federal law that gave them 56 million acres account for them only roaming on 26+/- million acres now and if so then how does 3.8 million cows manage to get fat on those acres while less then 18,000 horses are starving? Dont fall for propaganda
@Race62hud I am aware that horses haven't been used in dog food for 40+ and i said so they could be humanely put down. also i never said that slaughter 'fixes' it i implied that it would help. also i'm not falling for 'propaganda' i'm ''falling'' for what i see with my own eyes. i rescue wild mustangs and work them back from the brink of starvation some of the ones i've saved were bought from the BLM and mistreated. these problems are not propaganda they are real and as to the cows its (C)

Ok here is both general thoughts to horse slaughter. for thousands of years horses and men lived side by side. they helped us do work, fight wars, and travel places. Oxen/cattle served a less dominant role and were used mainly as livestock same with pigs sheep and chickens. the thought basically, what difference are horses from other livestock and, horses deserve better than that. I personally am against horse slaughter for food but that is my opinion.
What on earth are you typing? Use a minute to read what you just wrote. "sending these beautiful creations of life to be killed is wrong" - How can you even say that? If we met, and I had a small chicken in my hands, I bet you would have said "aaaawww that is SO cute!" and you would have held it, cuddled with it et cetera. Then I take it away from you and say I´m gonna kill it now, so you can eat it. Would you approve? Don´t think you would. Cow, chicken, horse, dog, pig - it´s MURDER
cows and chicken meat is one thing but sending these beautiful creations of life to be killed is wrong Im a meat eater too but no one in there right mind would eat a HORSE.
@xXJillyBeanXx - in the U.S., the only difference between a horse (any equine) and any other farm-raised animal is that equines ARE NOT on the USDA's list of "offically approved" food-animals....and we just want to keep it that way, thats all. Thats what makes equines so special in the USA. They are not RECOGNIZED as traditional food animals - same as our cats and dogs,...and hampster. JHC, do we have to eat EVERYTHING that moves? ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
@MuleKist Each to there own. Personally I wouldn't eat horse more than likely, but if some self righteous motherfucker told me I couldn't eat chicken or cow meat anymore I'd be pissed.
@xXJillyBeanXx - Calm down. I dont think it will ever come to that. That is what is so special about the horse. As long as we can keep it off of the USDA's "Offical List" of food-chain animals,....the horse will be safe from slaughter. Only 1% of our horses go to slaughter (we have over 9.2M of them in the USA) the "extra" 1% (when HR 503 passes) will be easily absorbed. Horse slaughter is a completely un-necessary evil, partucularly in the USA.
Here in Europe the true level of horse meat consumption is disguished by complicated food labelling regulation. 80.000 horses a year were being shipped from Rumania alone to Italy in the most hideously cruel conditions yet we never see horse meat mentioned on food labelling. I would not advise anyone who cares about this issue to eat any processed meats anywhere in Europe.
If you care, research the Rumanian horse export issue and spread the word what is going on here.
If I might add my two penneth worth. .... Culturally we owe everything to the horse, without them we would still be running around with spears. We would never have biult shps and America would still be a wild place occupied only by the native Americans. Horses helped us make the world what it is today.
We can't blame them for what we did to this world but they became part of the human spirit to the point that eating horse flesh is akin to cannabalism.
@xXJillyBeanXx Actually there are a lot of "he men" who are vegetarian ~ Leonardo DeCaprio, Brad Pitt, Joaquim Phoenix, Alec Baldwin, etc. Even Einstein said, for practical reasons, that an evolution towards a vegetarian diet was the healthiest direction to go, for ourselves and the planet. The shipping of animals is another nightmare. Horses, no longer slaughtered in the US are trucked to Mexico or Canada, arriving with broken limbs, damaged eyes. And cattle. Have you seen "EARTHLINGS"?
@ponypie95 i rescued my horse from the slaughter house. i hate slaughter. but since equine slaughter houses were outlawed in america, the number of reported horse abuse and neglect cases has gone up substantially. i agree that horses should never be eaten, but our slaughter houses sent the horses overseas. and honestly, the legal ones were more humane that the illegal ones operating today. america breeds more horses than it can handle. slaughterhouses were a necessary part of the equine economy.
I was stabled next to him at HOYS in 2006. He was at the stables with the horses, helping to get them ready and stuff and he seemed to really love them and treat them well. I think he's pretty amazing with them.

i went to see him on thursday he is so amazing i am currently doing this with my horses also i have the full video but it is 14 minutes long and i dont know how to shorten it can any one help?
WOW He is amazing I'm going to see him at The British Show Jumping Championships I can't wait I have watched him on Olympia but only on the T.V I really can't wait. YAY! :-)
