  • Inside Picard's mind:If only I had my Tommygun now...

  • Data's reaction makes all the more funny.

  • (00:27) "I'm French BTW"

  • it sounded like Data was begging the question.

  • Picard got ultra trolled by Data

  • It's Data's confused reaction that really makes it.

  • Picard got pwnd!

  • MY FACE IS PALM

  • Looks like Data forgot to have his fail comprehension chip installed.

  • @nepomusik

Except Data was right, as the episode proved, so Picard was face-palming due to his own failure

  • @AvinashTyagi No. Picard face palmed because he's trying to get Data to realise that he's talking about what Starfleet's reaction is going to be because of Data's achievement of creating another Soong type android.

  • The best part about this is that this is the perfect moment out of any point in the series for a double facepalm. No other circumstance would've warranted the double.

  • @Mulinaster

Except Picard was the one who was wrong, so shouldn't it be Data who facepalms (If he was capable of such things)?

  • Data, the first approach is best.Whip their ass.

  • Кэп рулит

  • Picard used to have complete composure. then he took an arrow to the knee!

  • You nead to do some serius shit to make a person do a double facepalm.

  • I'm watching this episode right now on netflix and it made me LOL hard when Picard facepalmed.

  • Picard's mind was blown by the logic lol

  • Awesome :D

  • The best face palm.

  • This show were so good for its time it should get so much more credit :P

  • Data: I think I broke him...

  • picard best captain ever. data so child like i love tng.

  • TRUE !! facepalm

  • Picard doesn't want a new pet pooping on his poopdeck.

  • Ah Mr. Pickerd. I'm so sorry, but I don care. The rents due on tuesdee.

  • капитан фейспалм

  • @TaintedMustard it is Jean-Luc Picard its suppose to be a french name :p

  • Data, sober: "I am unable to comprehend the intention of the gesture you have just made."

Data on weed: "Woah . . . it's a double facepalm all the way. Haha, woo! Yeah! Double facepalm all the way! What does this mean?"

  • Oh, poor captain...

  • So...much...epicness...

  • The same thing my dad did then i brought home my exam results

  • Jon Luke Pricard, you just got pwned.

  • @lemonlimeable1 You spelled his name wrong.

    It's John Luck Pickard.

  • @TaintedMustard

    You're taking the piss right?

  • @Urindunk It's the way Q pronounces it in Tapestry. :D

"Is there a John... Luck... Pickard here?"

  • @TaintedMustard

    Oh, that's right, haha.

  • epic!

  • Picard owned himself

  • epic

  • It was more of a scalp-palm, really.

  • I find this to be highly useful in forums.

  • Picard: I don't get enough for this shit...

  • "Spare the rod and spoil the child." always suggested to me that you shouldnt hit your kid but spoil them instead....why it's meaning is backwards I will never know! It should be, "Don't spare the rod to spoil the child."

  • @rad4life1 It is meant as a warning. If you spare the rod then you spoil the child, or if you do not discipline your child they will become a spoiled brat.

  • @crasheffort Ahhh ok! Thank you! I have been trying to understand that one for a very long time!

  • Picard was not justified, data was actually right ... perhaps Picard was facepalming himself...

  • If there was a 360p version, you would see smoke coming out from data's ears

  • @rub1k Why not Picard's?

  • I find it difficult to double facepalm with glasses.

  • 'what klingons do to their children..." lol Hes like sheldon cooper

  • @Proudnewfoundlander1 You mean sheldon cooper is like him.

  • Data just trolled Picard

  • Looks like 35 people often fail.

  • One of the few times Picard was wrong and prejudicial.

  • @LGD3 If you've seen the rest of this scene you should know that Picard was just trying to get Data to realise starfleets interest in this android he created. Because they would be because as Picard says Data unlike others expect Soong has succeeded in creating such an android. That's why he's getting frustrated he's trying to tell Data this but Data keeps going on about being a parent. Picard throughout this episode defends both Data and Lal because he believes in their rights.

  • FACEPALM!

  • Actually Data is quite right about that.

  • I wish Lal never died!!! I loved Data being a father! D:

  • DFP FTW :)

  • Facepalm ftw

  • last time Picard did a double facepalm the Klingon race was wiped out.

  • lol!!

  • That's no face palm!!!!!

    Where's the smack?

That's more like a face fondle or face caress.

    Facepalm? Nicka please.

  • @2eelShmeal do you mean stupid thing called faceplant ?

  • @ainmartinTV Ouch! I HATE faceplants... lol

  • @2eelShmeal He's putting his palms to his face. That's the literal definition of facepalm.

  • @MrGBH lol Not in my book. You need sound too, to make it effective,

May I direct you to my face palm expert? lol :

Just youtube: Puppet facepalms for use in your vids! by TruthSurge

See how as the palm makes contact, a distinct sound can be heard?...lol

    They're funny...

  • Sigh. data, data, data...

  • I think this one episode is the origin of all these hilarious comics!

  • LMAO i didn't expect a literal double facepalm

  • When the fail is so strong, one Facepalm is not enough.

  • Epic.

  • poo

  • Hahahaha!

  • That's not a proper facepalm, it's unjustified therefore less funny, Data was right.

  • Then Data just cocks his head like an effing bird and mimes confusion.

  • Why has such a great robotor like data with all the technology an unnatural skin colour?

  • And to think that this is in context

  • 0.39 Data can be so cute lol

  • @discotimelord ADORABLE :D

  • Choked up near the end of this episode. Now, to dig it out and watch it over again.

  • Data has a point.

  • data messed up now.

  • Press 8 button

  • I miss this show so much :C

  • Ladies and gentlemen, we have... an internet meme.

  • You have to so some major shit in order to get the double-face palm.

  • Datas face is WIN.

  • FACEPAWS

  • hahahaha

  • this would make anyone say a loud FUCK YOU, IDIOT!, but not picard, no. he dose the *hard voice*DOUBLE FACEPALM!*hard voice*

  • lmfao

  • harkorowe

  • Funny Picard should do the double face palm when talking about children, every parent has had at least on of those episodes lol

  • Double facepalm all the wayyyy across his face!!!

  • data: 'double face palm'? processing...

  • Data: U MAD?

  • professor X?

  • @JKDoodleBox Epicard. From Star TrEpic: The Epic Generation

  • I LAUGHED SO FUCKING HARD XD

  • Double Facepalm all the way across the stars!

  • Data's like wtf whats going on in there?

  • I JUST FUCKING JIZZED IN MY PANTS!

  • Data is like, "The Double Picard facepalm! What did I say?"

  • Data even divided by zero but still failed to parse the double facepalm.

  • @OptiMystic8 dude, your reply made me plotz of lolz ...

  • data cannot compute the epicness of the double facepalm

  • So many facepalms have come out of Star Trek

  • I cant see you over the sound of how stupid I look...

  • keep pressing 8, for maximum epicness.

  • Not to contradict the Picard, but, Data is technically right here.

  • Lol.

  • LOL!

  • The fail is strong with this one...

  • faceforhead*

  • The funny thing is Data is right, and yet he's not.

  • when i saw this ep it made me cry it was so sad at the end. :(

  • What DO cling-ons do to their kids?

    /completely ignorant on star trek

  • @nanciesweb Stab them with taser sticks. I'm not kidding.

  • his bold head can take 4 facepalms at once

  • Every time I see this episode, it reminds me of the episode where Data had to fight to maintain sentience to not be experimented on by scientists at the daystrom institute... Captain Picard realised that's what's going to eventually happen to Lal... It shows more about Starfleet is more interested in the technology than the science of android sentience.

I could understand if Starfleet encounters a dead android, and studied it in curiosity, but not like this!!!!!

  • @techepix I have a book about Asperger syndrome that actually does compare Data to people with AS.

"Does that not describe becoming a parent, sir?" I have to admit, he's not exactly WRONG. I wonder if the fact that I have Asperger's has anything to do with that! XD

  • @JakAndKeiraFan The fact many Aspies (Including myself in my younger years) tend to take things far too literally and thus would misconstrue the "Creating new life" for a verbose anti-euphemism for "becoming a parent", I can easily see how Data could be considered comparable to an Asperger's person.

Many Aspies think more logically than anything else, so it's understandable and uncanny how accurate that comparison is at times.

  • @Foxxie0kun

Excellent point. But two remarks: (1) Data eventually learns to recognize a figure of speech, Aspies are capable of learning figure of speech as well. Furthermore, once you learn figure of speeches, Aspies can become masters at diplomacy (2) Just like Data, the ability to shutoff feelings actually comes in handy, when emotionally charged situations. I personally think Aspies make great judges for example because of the ability to look at things objectively no matter what.

  • @HandigeHarry010 And yet the problem comes when trying to relate with the person, create an alliance, that is why psychopaths are considered as desagreable. It might be handy, but incompatible when talking to an "emotive" person.

Cutting off one's feeling comes also with an other price; being uable to relate to an other doesn't just renders a person difficult to live with, but also makes this sort of person perhaps even more self centered, after all emotions are a peresonal matter are they not?

  • @sqccccccccc What in the blue hell are you guys talking about, and how does it relate to this video ?

  • @Azakhiel Well it's nice to debate isin't it? It gives you something to argue about... A big game... A nice game... A game of finding who's right or wrong.

  • @sqccccccccc Yeah but I still have no clue how it relates to the video.

  • Make it so:D

  • i hated picard in the early seasons, he was such a douche...

  • Picard Double Facepalm TM.

Because, sometimes, life is described by fail.

  • Just press 8.

  • Epic!! :D

  • if you hold down 6, it looks and sounds like hes shushing you lmao

  • epic failure detected:commencing facepalm therapy.

  • Brian De Facepalma

  • Data's face at the end made me lose my shit laughing

  • it's so perfect, it's art!

  • When someone holds the facepalm, You know you fucked up.

  • @Annihilator27 indeed, especially when its your highly cultured and tough as nails captain holding it.

  • The best facepalm ever! :DD

  • when I first saw this I thought Picard said destroy new life then Data said.....

  • Picard: An awesome man who still doesn't fully respect robot rights.

If your species creates a robot which becomes sentient, you have no more right to claim it as property than parents have to claim their adult children as property.

  • @pkemrin Doesn't that depend on where you consider data an adult? One might argue his naiveté still holds him in a childlike stage.

  • @Coldmystery Data managed to graduate from Star Fleet academy, and has been awarded several medals. To say that mild naivete should disqualify one for their rights is to strip more than half of the adults in the world of their rights.

  • @pkemrin Very true... It's a pickle.

  • @pkemrin Go watch "The measure of a man" I think Picard is the one true spokesperson on the topic of the morality regarding artificially sentient beings for all humanity, how can you say he doesn't fully respect robots rights. When he is worried about Data's experiement it has to do with technical issues, what if for example some circutry error would cause that offspring to sense an infinity of pain?

  • @eriwal723 I've seen every episode at least twice, The Measure of a Man included. =) Don't get me wrong. Picard is certainly the best spokesperson in the show for the rights of sentient machines. I'm just saying that even he has his moments where he seems like he doesn't quite hold Data's rights equal, such as in this clip. He seems to be indicating here that making lol isn't the same as a baby. In the end Picard comes around, but he's still got a few hangups.

  • @pkemrin Agreed!

  • @pkemrin He may not accept Lal as being a child at first until later on when he sees how much she means to data but he still knows that Lal is a sentient being with the same rights as anyone else. Here he's primarily concerned about what starfleet's reaction to Lal is going to be. And he does get very defensive about lal against the admiral and does respect that Data sees Lal as being his daughter. So that and his belief that androids have the same rights is why he tries to keep them together.

  • I think Data's right...

  • The face-palm is strong with this one

  • Comment removed

  • Picard: (i'm surrounded by idiots) *epic facepalm*

  • Lieutenant Commander DATA's logic... is brilliant and irresistible!

He observes his Capitain's FacePalm with some worried concern

"Is there something wrong with you now, mon chèr Capitain?"

    Thank you for showing!

  • JEFFREY LIM IS THE LAMEST LAMO IN THE WORLD.

  • Comment removed

  • @zachtay Excuse what is this "lamo" word? You Asians are so weird!

  • Double facepalm all the way!

  • I want to know what Klingons do to their children!

  • I love Data's expression when Picard does the double face palm! XD

  • Picard...is...FRUSTRATED!!!

  • Are you double facepalming, sir?

  • i wonder what klingons do to their children.

maybe i dont want to know o_O

  • I knew the double face palm was coming right around the corner after Data started quoting the bible.

  • @bringonthewrath I knew it was coming due to the title lol

  • @bringonthewrath Actually this is a misconception. The book of Proverbs mentions punishing children for their misdeeds several times, but the quote is more of a paraphrase written by the poet Samuel Butler in the epic poem "Hudibras." The poem is very long (three parts,) but the infamous couplet goes as such:

    Love is a Boy,

    by Poets styl'd,

    Then Spare the Rod

    and spill the Child.

  • @Epiderminator Probably got mixed up in the future as history sometimes is. It would be very easy to accidentally input spoil instead of spill although we don't even know when they put it into their database. Either that or it gradually over time became spoil instead of spill. Anyways time distorts history and things can get lost sometimes forever. If this is not what you were talking about sorry about that, but the principle that time distorts history is very much true.

  • @Samus312 I was actually responding to someone who thought that "spare the rod and spoil the child" was a quote form the bible. In reality the phrase came from a poet in the 17th century.
