Why is everyone arguing about her heals, her horse, etc?

U didnt train this horse did you... Thats not much to call yourself a proud winner if you didnt train it. I trained mine for 4 years and when i win i can say i know why and be proud of it.

@AdoptAPet44 Its actually really hard. My WP mare was all leg and spur. I was not allowed to use my reins at all unless I was in horsemanship and it was very slight. Every single cue for that horse is leg and spur, even to stop we did not use reins.

she needs to keep her heels down more every close up her toes are pointed downward. the only thing i can say about the horse is that the rear needs a little more movement, most of the trot looked like the back end was just walking.

@farmmiss It wouldn't matter if her toes are pointed downward in this class or not. The judges are looking for the horses ability to perform and them enjoying their job.

@1JonasLoveForever1 Yes, i have. I didn't say i put my heels up. Now in horsemanship, she would get placed lower. Again, WP is the horses ability to perform the desired western type, not the riders ability to keep there heels down.

it's a beautiful horse, but I can't help but feel the horse's movements look so unnatural... I know it's what the Pleasure classes are all about, but still, if my horse jogged like this I'd call the vet, fearing he's lame on all four legs...

You had a wonderful ride on a beautiful horse. Ignore any negative comments. Jealousy is an ugly greenheaded monster and some people do not have enough tact to keep their opinions to themselves when it attacks. Keep doing what you are doing and I am sure many more victories will come your way.

It just depends the way it was taught to the rider. There is not really a preference one way or the other but good question.

Yea it is riding but its a way different style, I tried it for a while and it isn't for everyone you have to a really really quiet horse and you have to want to go very slow. I figured out that that wasn't for me so now I do reining but its harder than it looks

Im one of the nicest girls in my class so just shut your mouth cause she has a lot of nerve to wanna make it that far. Personally I would never train my horse to have THAT much control..

But I do encourage him sometimes, to trot and lope fairly slow..

If you can get your horse to do "unnatural" (or whatever lol) stuff like that, it just goes to show how much respect that horse has for you.

question...im leraning western pleasure and western rideing and just a have a pretty simple question :P....rains always in the left hand? or do u switch depending on direction. and for rail work inless the judge says otherwise you start going around to the right?

Your rein hand depends on which hand your more comfortable. However you do not switch hands. Typically you enter the ring to the right unless announcer directs otherwise.

@0purple0oranges0 I agree with Sstation312. It is whatever you're more comfortable with. HOWEVER, the old tradition is to ride with your left, because if you were a cowboy you would rope with your right. Just food for thought ;) and yes, usually you start to the right.

@prncsmary - Do you have any idea of the skill and control over the horse it takes to ride like that? I urge you to try it, to get a horse to move like that, slow, steady and controlled (most of which is completely unnatural). Go take a lesson, you'll see it's not as easy as you may think - Just started western, used to ride english...I know first hand.

Okay, you think its easy! how about you try riding a spur stopped horse at age 7! Im sure you couldnt. Spur stoped is the hardest thing to learn. You try getting on the rail trying to go slow and keep your horse focas and consistant. its hard as crap!
