  • Show how to take on swell? By stopping in the middle of a bar and nearly going sideways?

  • I SHALL NOT DRIVE IN THE CHANNEL THAT WOULD BE A HORRIBLE IDEA.

  • thought about getting a spearfish or oceaneer they look like theyd do the job, i think the 3rd bloke out had the best run & hes only got a 60 on the back ,ive been out with pros & they gone back too neutral almost @ sum stage waiting for the wave to break rather then getting too it too late & hes got more than 50yrs plus crossing bars daily, i was wtf u doing, thats on the nambucca bar .

  • Thanks for putting that up although that first guy stuffed up. You should never need to reverse in the middle of a bar to avoid a big greenback. He should have waited for a better set. Bar crossings are dangerous and you don't want to be hanging around, reversing in the bar, and letting waves hit you while stationary. You need to get through it as soon as possible, but without too much speed, or your hull will crack, then your F*#ked!

  • whos this

  • i love my fishing but its never that good a fishing to risk everything

  • I can understand the crazyness of wanting to go fishing when the fish seem to be on. Though you really gotta consider your gear/lives before you go shooting out like that. They're not crazy, although the first boat was bloody lucky to get through the last wave. At least they were all going head on.

  • I have to say the water to the right looks calmer.. But, when you are their in the boat getting pounded its not always easy to see whats better. You just tend to go with whats ahead because you can see it and make a judgement call quicker. Trying to swing round into clearer water can sometimes be fatal because you run out of time and cop it on the side..

  • That's some of the poorest boat handling I've ever seen. The boat should've been trimmed bow high, just on the plane and they should've been far over to the right of the bar.

No wonder so many of the boats lost on bars are nearly new....It's not even a big swell, maybe a metre.

  • @TyphoonVstrom come on man.., cut these fellas a break. why are you being so judgmental?

  • @monki600

I see idiots like this all the time, it's all fun and games till they pound the bottom out of their boat or rip the transom off. It's called the "I just bought $80k of boat, I MUST know what I'm doing" syndrome. Judgemental? I'll leave that to the ocean......

  • @TyphoonVstrom you must be the guy who says 'why has he got a new boat, he doest even know how to use it', 'one day im gunna have one'. you complain an awful lot, and i bet you have not much to your name either. but its ok, we need people like you and your family working in my factories earning me money. small price to pay. continue small man

  • @ 1:05 was almost the last wave anyone on that boat would ever see.

  • reminds me of the bar at Lakes Entrance about ten years ago

  • More good luck than good management

  • I bet the mackerel ( spanish and/or spotties ) were on. They were suffering from mackerel fever. I've had it a few times out of Brunswick Heads! You see the waves half as big and twice as slow from the breakwall. Also you swear there is a ball of bait 200m past the breakers with 4,000,000,000,000 mackerel waiting to eat your lure or livie.

  • 1.09 that was close lads

  • ggg

  • at 26 secs you can see he,s aground by the wash on the stern but no foward motion.

  • @ninja2kernow

He's reverse to ensure he doesn't hit the wave when it's still a green back.

  • You'd be hoping no engine failure in that lot.

  • Lots of experts here, So much expertise yet none of you have videos?.....

  • Ha ha ha, what the fuck is a 19foot boat with a 60hp doing out of the creeks, ha ha ha

  • @boxchamp4114

wow your like superman or something. and you swear to ..........cool. I'm sure what friends you have don't think you a d*&$khead either

  • try a 3metre swell north end bribie island,

455 Stessco tornado side console, i followed a 6.5 quintrex offshore out, he got thrown around, i decided to go left through happy valley, got less waves but it was 5ft water waves jacked right up, awesome fun. i think i got my pilots licence on that trip, hit it and hit it hard,

  • ya gotta get the nose of the boat in the wave,, hence the boat wont bakflip

  • the first guy is the biggest idiot,, ya gotta gun it and smash through the waves, the faster ur going, the better chance ur gona go more through the wave, rather than flying through the air or bakflipping.

  • @orgasmoman69

You don't gun it buddy, doing that will just get you flipped.

  • @masterdanoz then y does the first guy get so fuckd up going slow? and the last 2 boats done it a piece of piss

  • Crazy man Crazy. I'd never take my boat out in those kind of waves. NEVER!

  • that first guy didn't pick a very good set lol....

  • where is this video taken

  • north of coffs harbour, there is a bommy about 600 m out and if you wait for a small set then count (i think) 18 waves then you go and dont hesitate :)

  • you need to time it and punch the throtle at the lull in the wave then go balls out and get over the swell no matter what!

  • I've crossed this bar and if the tide is coming out your committed!!! Lots of green water over front on this bar. The sun is no help early morning.

  • taken a riviera 42 open flybridge ova that one ,had green water bust the zippers off the clears....

  • why did the first idiot hang around in the break zone?????

  • YAh shoulda pinned it straight out hey, your a goose!!!

  • Comment removed

  • fukn scary shit wouldnt lyk 2 try that in my boat...

  • Wow, thats a good vid. Would want to hope it was worth the hassle to catch some fish!

Have to agree with others comments about not reading it proper as they look to be punching it straight through the breakers.

  • I took a tinnie out off dat the last two weeks every day.(10ft)

    FUN!!!!

turos bar is nothing depard to this i been there this bar has claimed the most boats in Australia and probably gets used a third as much as others.

  • manukau bar(nz) on a bad day 6 ta 8m waves a naiad with to 175s on the back now there is a good time!! not at nite sceary as you can only hear them coming!!

  • know to be the worst bar crossing on the eastern coast but fishing is excellent once you get out to the solitary islands.

  • serious is that a woeful bar, i thought that was how a normal bar was with those big swells but those skippers with their boats did a top job and it looks like they were gonna have a fun day fishing- nothing better in my books.

  • lol i wouldnt have taken my boat of my trailer lol

  • haha this reminds me 1st time i crossed a bar at wilsons prom, through the shallow inlet, about half way across i didnt wana watch nemore and tried sitin down just at the moment the boat droped onto a wave n i landed on my right nut. lol funiest n most painfull spearfishin trip of my life :P

  • Their not reading the bar correctly, look at the vid, right side breaks way less.

  • that bloke will end up dead one day he couldnt read a bar if he had one up his arse

  • lol,

  • I think that's the point of the video... it don't look so cool in the smaller break :P

  • @noosaslayer yeah but this is more fun :D

  • @noosaslayer Right hand side at Wooli is out of the question because its too shallow mate.

  • @noosaslayer Always the left side out of Wooli. Trust local knowledge mate. Next time you're there pop into Stan and ask him.

  • Yeah but these are small boats, fair dues!

  • ive seen better bars in my undies
