All I did to sync it was match up the waveform with the bits in a couple variables. It doesn't actually analyze the sound since it's only used for this one part.
RE: noise: With the glass on all of the solenoids are a LOT quieter.

Just my personal preference, but try inverting the bits in the signal (So it closes it's mouth where it would open now and vice versa.)
