  • Adorable!

  • the great John Denver, and the sublime Little Drummer Boy, the best match!!! Greetings from México!!!

  • found this while looking for another john denver track... SO WONDERFUL.... still miss him after all these years

  • @sverigejapbop1

    I'm glad you enjoyed it. A favorite of mine as well...although most all of John's songs are my favorites!

  • You can tell when an artist really understands and has internalized the song and its message, and John Denver obviously did. Love it. (This song makes me cry lol)

  • This was an amazing song that John Denver sangs it...He dedicated his songs not only to us but first to our God..

  • Beautiful John, you were a wonderful singer,and this was given the reverence it deserved in such a place. RIP.

  • I was wondering if it was John Paul II that invited him , would be my guess anyway.Do you know the year?

  • Nobody can sing this song any better than John. He does this magnificently, gracefully and with heart. I love it very much. It does bring tears to my eyes as it also brings back personal memories with him.

  • John, we miss you! I'm from Germany and I don't know how if you ever realized how many people in this country loved you and miss you so much! Rest in peace, dear John!

  • Bellissimo says it all

  • Bellissimo!

  • He seems to get emotional during this....I love when that happens..

  • @DramaDon83

    I noticed that myself, and, like you, I love it, cause it's brings even more quality into the song.

  • They say the poop likes rock and rock music, he was probably very bored during this.

  • Only one word Brillent************

    Thanks Dainel for sharing

  • Superb this version is absolutely.

    Thanks my freind for posting.

    By the way bob segar does a rather nice one also.

  • its a disgrace to mankind to sing in front of the catholic mafia,

  • @lunafringe10 Matthew 7:1-2 "Do not judge others, so that God will not judge you, for God will judge you in the same way you judge others, and He will apply to you the same rules you apply to others". Merry Christmas!

  • @lunafringe10

    only post . if you know what you are talking about....RETARD

  • he looks so young here! Any idea of when this was??????

  • @dryackypoo This is probably from "96 judging from the hair. He had longer hair in the later 90's and he has his earring in which would be after ''93 or '94.

  • Please visit meryl heasman on you tube to hear new christmas song THE JOURNEY...THANKS.

  • Please visit meryl heasman you tube if you would like to hear a new christmas song called THE JOURNEY.

  • glory to jesus

  • what I have come to love about JD is his apparent humility, I think that is what makes him so moving, allowing God to move through him.

  • This is one of my favourite Christmas songs of all time...sung by one of my favourite singers. I think this is my favourite performance to date...only stumbled onto it today.

  • is it just me or does john look nervous. he's looking around like if he didn't sing perfect (which couldn't happen because he was perfect) that he would be shot or something?

  • @n555jd maybe just the fact he was at the vatican, that would scare anyone to death! what an honor!

  • @n555jd he was always a quiet country boy and nevr really into the glam and crowds and fame- he prefered the simple life and must have felt out of place somewhere so proper and human and not like nature

  • Amazing performance

  • My favourite beautiful Christmas song -and beautiful John....

    I'll always keep you in my heart ...Missing you deeply.

    Love Marie, Noway.

  • i am sure that he continues to smile,

    you played your best for him John.

    Rest In Peace, great man.

  • Sublime...

  • The glorious testimony of a faithful Saint.

  • bello.complimenti

  • John Denver is (unfortunately was) great, his music lives on. What a pity he died so early in an aircraft crash.

  • You just cant stop them from coming out of your eyes. And, now I'm breathless. He leaves all with a pure heart -- and probably some others too -- breathless.

  • merry christmas from casper wyoming

  • Merry Christmas from East Boston,Ma 02128 !

  • I love John Denver...his music is timeless and only improves with the passing of years...and I totally agree...he is so missed...but through his messages within his music.. he lives on

  • John is sooooo missed..... there never will be a man like John!!!! He will always be the BEST!!!

  • was this 1995? he looked his best this year and this is my favorite hair cut of jd who is my idol over all of the years!!

  • Yes- the earring and hair are from probably '95 or possibly '96- he was coming around and looking good those last few years. In the '96 video of his last appearance on the Today show in Dec '96 the hair looks longer like this but straighter. I always got a kick out of the earring the last few years- thought it was cute.

  • Well this song is, after all, about a drummer boy... so shouldn't there be some DRUMS?

  • There are spanish version, with a drumm all the moment, but in this english version... easy my friend, the drums is in the "rapapampam"

  • What a great singer he was!

  • When I saw this video it was the day my vision made its first appearance in over a year. I cried....beautiful voice from a beautiful man. He looked so handsome - and then we lost him. You never know what you have until you lose it. I got my vision back...but we can't get John back...I miss him.

  • y what happened??

  • Favorite Christmas song by my favorite singer....miss him.

  • I begin to understand...

  • really enjoyed!

  • Beautiful....My favourite Christmas song...and missing you so much, John...

    A voice like velvet....Love Marie, Norway.

  • John Denver, Really your music was an inspiration in my live. Good bless you John, Thanks for all.

  • enjoyed

    D.O.M.

  • I love this Christmas song and the drummer boy, his fineness gift to give the King. To play his drums for Christ.

    John Denver is a giver & loves Jesus Christ in many of his songs.

    May the Good Lord Bless John Denver for not being ashame of Christ in songs.

    ~~~Love Ava~~~
  • My God.2 of my favourites Little Drummer Boy and the magnificent wonderful John Denver an angel if ever there was one.
  • Thankyou for sending this on to me. I love Little Drummer Boy and JOhn Denver just like yourself. I sang in this beautiful hall in Rome a few years ago...Pope John Paul 11. went into hospital the day before so I did not get to meet him.
  • You are wonderful for providing the link! Thank you Thank you THANK YOU! (Smiles & hugs!)
  • Just a thought,there is nothing greater than to use a gift given by god and in such an environment.He is singing for god about god and with a god given gift
  • Have always loved John Denver!! Two of my favorites are "Perhaps Love" (which I would like played at my transition from "earthly" to "other worldly" status) and "A Song For All Lovers". Beautiful!!!
  • So noble and beautiful- love the words!
  • How cool! My husband talked me into singing this song as a "special" at church this past Christmas. I have always loved to sing, but never thought I had much of a voice, until God blessed me with some ability in the last couple of years. I guess I did okay, the people at church seemed to like it, and I enjoyed performing it.
  • i have never understood the negativity towards Mr John Denver.have you ever listened to "For You"?
  • that is my all time fav jd song the first time i heard it i got goosebumps...my friend used it as her wedding song
  • what's this about negativity... on what planet do you speak of? He's sort of universally loved you know.
  • what year was this?
  • 1710. hehehehe
  • Dec.24.2008: in this Christmas Night i would remember, as a Prayer,John and his songs, and his words too. He left us with his songs a big keepsake. Merry Christmas to all the world from my Ham Radio Station, God bless us.
  • I was in that wonderful room, but definitely at the wrong time. Wish I could have seen John perform...
  • Too slow!
  • I think it's beautiful, like John sings it! And there are very different versions with him - and there is always something special. But in this concert would be a swinging version somehow does not have been appropriate. My opinion.
    Unfortunate in this clip is only that the quality of the film is so bad that the in reality so narrow John so lets look broad - as he would stand in front of a distorting mirror (Zerrspiegel).
  • Someone tell them lol
    I was being ironic!
    N no, that doesnt have anything to do with getting a nice crease in a shirt! lol
  • erm...lol :)
  • Beautiful, sweet, perfect...the Little drummer boy is one of my many favorite Christmas songs...John Denver's singing rivals the angels! His voice is perfect for this song. thanks for posting this video.
  • I couldn't agree more!
  • why do you think we have Christmas you idiot? did you ever get the connection "CHRIST"mas? it's celebrating Christ's birth
  • go n read reply lol.
  • your a freakin idiot religion is about christmas moron
  • thank you so much for adding this beautiful video which is so uplifting, typical of John Denver's music. Awesome isn't enough for a rating and added this to my favorites immediately
  • te extrañamos John Denver!!!!!!!!!
  • That has finally melded my husband and me. I love John Denver and he loves the Little Drummer Boy. I'm going to play it for him tomorrow.
  • Ever since I first heard him with the Muppets, I have always associated him with Christmas, even though I know he did so much more stuff.
  • It's the only time in my life I have ever wanted to be the Pope...
  • What a sad little creature you are! Apart from the fact that Pope John Paul III has yet to be born, you can neither type nor spell. I shall have you expelled for having no sense of fun.
  • Was the Pope there, too? Lucky old toad.
  • I love this song and have always loved John Denver. This in an excellent video. Thanks!
  • Howd the feck he get this gig??? Was in advertised in the NME??
    Good on ya and RIP JD..
    Shame no stage diving or moshing goin on tho.
    Never mind...
  • perfect voice
  • He was good lookin!! im sad that he died!!
  • can you post more of this jd special he is my idol and he looks his best here he ever looked
  • Unfortunately, I don't have any more of this special. It was great, though.
  • I saw this video on tv during the concert and I had the time to record it partially. I'm very happy to find it here. I believe that's the nearest feeling to the real Christmas sense that the TV has ever shown in Italy
  • I always thought of John as being a reverent person and this special performance at the Vatican was ethereal.... Thank you blsimms.
  • I agree--it was a special performance!
  • Really excellent version. Thank you, blsimms.
  • Thanks.  Glad you enjoyed it.
  • i thought he died in 80s?
  • He died in October, 1997.
  • This IS my favorite Christmas song ...I love JD singing it ..The end gave me chills..RIP John...You now have seen the end of what you say at the end after the song..Thanks for posting!!!
  • I believe this was shot in '92 but I may be wrong...which is what my wife always tells me...LOL :)
    Great video! Thanks for posting!
  • It was later than that - I think 1995.
  • I agree- he had longer hair his last year or two- than in the early 90's. He looked good his last few years- ('95-'97)- started to look more happy and at peace.
  • GREAT video!! What year was this done- looks like '90s I am guessing- anyone know?
  • Awesome!! This is one of my favorite Christmas songs. To here John Denver sing it,makes all the better. I like what he says at the end.
