  • It gets alot worse! This happened to me today Same specs, ATI x1600 etc. It was the result of overheating of the GPU which seemed to become erratic at temperatures as low as 50 degrees celsius! The immediate solution was to use SMC Fan Control to lower the temperature down to a healthy idle of 30 Degrees C.

  • No ware near as bad as one imac I had seen with a 2400pro that would go bad after a short time when running 3dsmax.
