@westpsmity With Jaguars, you just never know what prices they'll show up at and I highly agree with you. Check the used sections on these guitars and you'll find a great deal most likely.  I paid $900 for mine though XD. It's an MIJ in turquoise blue and matching headstock.

@westpsmity Yes, in my opinion, a jag definitely worth. Never do I look back and say "Man.....I shouldn't have used the money on that". I play it happily everyday and it is my main guitar. Out of all my Teles, Strats, and even a Gibson, I always go back to my jag. It doesn't hurt that the color it has is somehwhat rare, which is a nice touch LOL.

I own this guitar too, the Dragster pick ups can get so heavy; I use an SG as well and the two of them working together gives me plenty of room to work while still maintaining a cohesive sound, strange to think you'd get that from a Fender.

Anyway, since you have a HH Jaguar, I got a question. I recently bought a sunburst Jaguar for $600 off Musicansfriend and don't necessarily know how the tone versus volume knobs work in conjunction with the switches.

Can you help me decipher the switches a bit better?

But anyway, I love the guitar nonetheless, It was just a little frustrating at first to wonder what the hell I was doing.

Yeah, man. Honestly, this is my first electric guitar lol so I can't tell you much. But I've been playing for 3 years on crappy acoustics and wanted to get a guitar for $500 and found this baby on Musiciansfriend.

I think its good. It definitely has a dark sound to it. I'm starting to get used to it so I'll let you know. Awesome guitar though and the strings that come with it are great.

I just got this one in Sunburst and its Made In Japan.

I've played a 2003 Made in Mexico Strat and thought it sounded beautiful.

To each his own. I never played an American Strat but honestly I did the Fender tone no matter what.

If you can afford it and have the chops to back it up, buy it but I wouldn't spend more than $700 on a guitar honestly but then again that's just me after playing for 3 years counting this year.

i just got one of these i love it! its got so much depth it can be rlly clean and smooth and it can get rlly funky and twangy great for jazz blues country and rock, i dont use it for metal and hard rock cuz i got a metal guitar i use for that stuffz but a great guitar well worth it.

Personally, I've found this little beast to be the most quality-feeling Fender at this price-point. The vintage-tinted glossy neck is just a dream come true! I've had one for a little over a year and it's a joy to play. The only thing I'd warn you about is the short scale - if you have large hands and like to solo high up the neck, you'll feel cramped. I have small hands so it feels great, but this scale length is not for everyone.

It's a matter of taste. I have a Gibson Faded Special, and it's an excellent guitar. I tend to like Gibsons with humbuckers and Fenders with Single coil, and not vice versa... Except any Gibson sounds great with p90s.

I Got a jaguar today, exactly the same as the one above but it just doesnt sound too good and the pickup selectors dont make any affect, and the master volume and tone knobs dont work the volume knob dont make a difference to the volume and the same with the tone.

has anyone got any ideas on how to make it sound better?.

I'd make sure you know how the Jaguar switching scheme works. If the lead-rhythm switch (on the upper horn) is "up", then none of the lower switches and knobs will apply (these apply only to the 'lead' circuit). If the upper switch is 'down' (engaging the lead circuit), then the bottom three switches (neck pu on/off, bridge pickup on/off, strangle switch on/off) are engaged, as are the lower volume/tone knob.

Unfortunately, I sold this guitar to help fund the purchase of a Jazzmaster (what can I say, I love offsets). Although I can't record a video of it now, it sounded a lot like your typical Gibson SG or Les Paul distorted. As mentioned, it had Seymour Duncan pickups in it.
