I have just watched again to confirm my opinion and I have to say he is so much worse than I remembered. The dancing is particularly embarassing, especially that spin he does 1.22 to try and get some attention away from the dancers, oh dear me, that was truly awful.

From what I have heard of his record I would not say he rocks. He is an adequate performer in musicals but that's it. As a recording artist he leave alot to be desired, no soul or originality, it makes me cross when more talented singers get overlooked.

You are spot on, A musicals singer is what he is and he should stick to that. I don't claim to be able to do what he does, I just don't get his appeal. I am sure all his fans agree with you and if someone insulted my faves I am sure I would be moved to stick up for them too.
