there are no links between the movies and games,the games are original storyline,and the movies are an alternate story,you should try playing the games first,my recommendation is to play the games in this order:

-residente evil umbrella chronicles

-resident evil 4

No, if you have a Wii, ignore Umbrella Chronicles first. Play the gamecube versions of RE 0, 1, 2, and 3. Then Code Veronica X. Then Resident Evil 4. Then 5. Play Umbrella Chronicles as a refresher course, if you need one, after you've played up to Code Veronica. The game is incredibly brief summaries of the older games and leaves out a lot of the spirit of the story.
