I'd have to say that President Reagan along with his Defense Secretary Casper Wienberger where the last, because at the time their massive military buildup was vital to pushing the Soviet Union to defeat and ending the Cold War. You should watch the Documentary "In the Face of Evil," its about Reagan and the Cold War as are the books Reagan's War and The Crusader. But Ike was defiantly on target. America needs a new Eisenhower to get America back on track.

The Saudi decision to punish Russia for its invasion of Afghanistan by pumping oil until it plummeted to $10 a barrel was just as responsible (if not more) for Soviet collapse than Reagan's policies. That killed 'em economically.
