if you want to make something like this the tips I have for you from experience is use a thick enough stick in real life. I recomend building the kind of stick they show on that website with like the candycane sort of stripe down it. I used dowling rods and in the video when they were in motion they were almost invisible in some frams making it really hard to trace around them.
Also if you think that you're not doing a very good job just keep going anyways because when I was drawing it out I thought it looked like complete garbage and I mean it wasnt amazing but it worked.
