I'd say it's probably done with magnets. 300 bucks for some modeling clay, flash paper, and some matches? Now, if you can get people to buy this expensive trick with not too impressive effect, then...YOU ARE A REAL MAGICIAN!....
Hmmmm...well..uhm....not all that impressive really. I mean, it might be a fun thing to do for 3-8 year olds, but for anyone older, this effect is way too slow-moving and requires too much setup. (by 'setup' I mean making the little man) For $300, it should be a little more visual and quick. I'm not demanding the clay guy do the fandango or anything, but more than a shuffle.
You should all go to the Paul Harris Presents site and see the new video.
This is the old demo up here. Also, check out the Magic Cafe posts under

wow what a peice of crap are you kidding me, its the presentation that makes the effect? what the hell is the presentation im going to sit here for 5 minutes and make a clay person who will then walk 5 inches and light this peise of paper on fire that will reveal a prediction, this can not add anything to any effect and a prediction effect would be much stronger by just writing it on a piece of paper who the hell would buy this? oh but i know, paul harris made it.

People I am a magician as well. This isn't very fooling and I don't think think it would be that fooling to a lay audience either. A cute little bit yes. i am a magician and i do know how this is done and i can tell you that the seacret is not worth $300 i have spent 15 years in the magic circle. but this is a realy good afect if it was $80
I know *exactly* how it's done just by watching the video once but as a magician I'm not going to reveal it to non-magicians(sorry guys..I took the oath years ago), but I can safely say that some of the people posting their guesses are absolutely correct..
the thing of it is ... alot of people feel that that they have stumbled onto the correct method, or they know how to recreate this exactly. i sent my idea on how this was done to janet harris. paul took a look at what i thought the method was. i was correct. im not going to go into any sort of detail as to how it is done, or what it is that makes it happen. all i will say is that if you are thinking IT... you are wrong flat out. if you are thinking there is something inside.. again....wrong!
No, I'm not thinking IT at all..not in the least, and you are right, there is nothing inside the clay at all, he makes that clear in the video when he says that the audience can form the clay.
I got 32 years in the biz and there are about 2 tricks in the whole world that I haven't been able to work out on my own...and this ain't one of 'em.
im happy you have 32 years in the biz, thats great man. good for you. all im saying is, if you honestly had figured out the true method for reproducing this, you would understand why it is carrying such a price tag and you would understand that there are numerous possibilities with it. i dont dispute that you figured out A method, maybe 32 years of old thinking is clouding your judgement. i dont have 32 years "in the biz" but i figured it out. so what?
actually, i didnt insult you at all. you stated you had 32 years in the biz, i was simply restating that. you used foul language and called me a jerk, so you indeed are the one "throwin' the insults". i simply staed that i wasnt impressed with your "32 years in the biz" congrats!! 32 years and your still arguing with 24 year olds on youtube... it seems that maybe your a little sensitive about your age. sorry man. people age, they forget things. maybe you should hang it up.
You must be getting old, you FORGOT your actual insult..
"maybe 32 years of old thinking is clouding your judgement"
Of course all of this BS you're putting on is simply your way of saying "nyah, nyah, nyah, nyah, I'm the only person who could EVER figure this out nobody can ever get it right including you".. Is your young ego so fragile that you can't accept that someone else might actually know what they're talking about?
Its obious, its related to magnets, the clay figure has tiny magnets put in its feet, the rest im not sure but i know for a fact that inside the bag has something magnetic moving, just look at the way it walks.
All the negative commentary makes me happy that I'll be the only one doing this for a while. People are looking at the shallow surface. I'm looking at making my reputation with a wealth of presentational ideas.
Looking forward to more, and triple looking forward to March.
@TheBradTobin Heh...I 100% stand behind my ideas for how I would have approached the presentation of this effect for my act, sadly, the creative team backed off and never released the guy. Oh well...a year ago I moved on.
Way to try to start a pointless prick-waving contest though. You're a gem, Brad. Have a magical day!
@krmarlo Thanks! I didnt think you would have responded, but even though this is a piece of crap , the question was sincere, i truly wanted to know how people took it. I didnt know it wasnt realeased, Thank God, and i would like to know what presentation you were planning on, i could see this being performed with a great story, and it being very entertaining, but the entertainment would be coming from the story and not the magic.
@TheBradTobin Magic IS entertainment, period. The strongest comes from heart/story/presentation/connection...the equipment is, frankly, meaningless.
Being a "Move-Monkey" has a place, and has it's impressive look, but without establishing connection and great presentation/acting it's just forgotten "acrobatics".
While I won't share what I have/had in mind for this little guy, I'll say that the room for a poignant and intriguing lead-in coupled with the right timing is surely there for gasps.
I'm pretty sure I can say that it doesn't use threads. I think it's a new principle... one that can only be used in this specific way but very clever for all that.
If you think you understand "how to do it," the way to prove it is to actually demonstrate the trick by making your own video! It's quite legal and a good exercise to attempt to reproduce someone else's trick yourself.
wow......u guys stop hating it cause of the price.....maybe the gimmick is really worth it because they wont make a trick that worth $300 for a invisible thread or reel.....maybe its something else.
speaking as a magician of 32 years, I can safely tell you that SOME magicians will indeed sell a trick for $300 that only uses IT or a reel. Just look at Elevator(or Elevator II)...or anything that elusionist puts out... I'm not saying PH is doing this but it does happen.
actually knew what they were talking about, they would realize that invisible thread is number one not strong enough to hold and pull that heavy of a clay piece, they would also realize that simply using "thread and a reel" to create this movement, is in short...impossible. try it, it wont work. this is a great thing, and im really sorry alot of you cant see that
also, i would like to say this... if all of you have "figured this out" and "know exactly whats happening" how come none of you have posted your little rendition of this online somewhere? if you know how to recreate this already, then why are you so upset at the price. you shouldnt need to buy it, since you know how to make it... could it be that you dont know how its done? could it be that you all actually dont know what you are talking about? yeah, i think thats it...
or it could be that the effect isn't good enough to really justify spending the time/effort/money on. I know the secret for certain but don't think it's strong enough to waste the money on collecting the pieces needed to reproduce.
secondly, it is not invisible thread. as i stated before , i have a working version of this, it took alot of trial and error, and i can tell you this... invisible thread is not used, period. this is a great thing once you actually see it happen in front of you. buy it and see for yourselves if you dont believe me
If they really want people to put up the $300 they're going to have to make a video in front of spectators in a real world situation. We all know what it looks like. The only way we can tell if this trick is fully examinable, w/ no switches, is with an audience. The ad says "Empty bag and container can be freely handled by audience at END of effect." Can the bag specifically be examined at the start of the effect? If so that must be one hell of a bag.
That is a truly beautiful and astounding effect. Dai Vernon knew what he was talking about when he called Paul Harris the greatest mind in magic. He doesn't just put out tricks - he puts out _art_. I won't be buying it any time soon b/c my bank account is still recovering from True Astonishments, but still . . . if I was a full time pro, I think I would make the investment.
To me it doesn't look like much in the vid, but with great magicians get this in there hands on this effect will be the best thing EVER. Don't get me wrong PH is a good magician a very dam good one. This vid doesn't do justice. I can see so many routines with this. I might not get it the day it comes out, but it is one of the effects I would consider buying. Probably one of the top ten tricks in 2010!
If you are new to magic (which I am assuming you are) you have to understand that it is expensive. It is more expensive than Warhammer 40,000, Paintball combined. I would Rather put 300 dollars down for a good quality trick than a piece of shit copy of this effect. So in closing Yes it is 300 dollars a gimmick, but sometimes that's what you have to pay for a good quality trick. People buy designer pants for 300 bucks. This trick is a designer trick. You are going to pay top dollar for it!
see you have the money to put down, i also been a walk-around magician for 4 years now. i am 16 and its hard for me to find money so unlike you i cant just shit money. i agree to find a good quality magic trick you need money, but i don't agree with magic trick because it looks like a really bad magic trick . ooo wow hes walking. and...
True it is hard to find money for magic like that. But being a good magician means that you can come up with your own routine. I have been in magic for 11.5 years now. The trick may look stupid to you now, but I bet it will sell out at this years WMS and IBM conventions. Yah I can't shit money, and if I could I would by brand named illusions and other tricks. This is more of an accessory than it is a trick because you can do so much stuff to it.
Sorry to discourage you but. I was at W.M.S. and no one was talking about this. I didn't see it there either. But All the times I was in the dealers room I did not even once hear anyone ask any dealer such as Steven's Magic Emporium if they had this available for sale at the convention.
The effect is good, ..... but, ......... I find in Magic that if an effect can be easily assumed to be done a certain way by the viewers, then the effect looses it's impact. Doesn't matter if they are right or not, it will loose it's impact. Isn't the mission to do something which is "unexplainable"? Most viewers will immediately assume a magnet under the surface and in the clay, which was palmed and taken away before inspection. Again, doesn't matter if they are right or not., impact is lost.
I must say I LOVE!!! the effect.. c'mon guys.. its is examinable. u can even leave the room!! even there is a magnet. but how would he control it right? but, isn't $300 is a little over price Janet? i would like to know why is it that expensive? is it because of the effect or engineer? i would love to buy this. Thanks Paul Harris. i always love your effect & idea..
I believe in the right hands this effect has great potential. But I would recommend it for people who have that certain imagination and can perform it in a way that people will believe they are seeing a piece of clay come to life. Always remember a very important rule in Magic and Mentalism---If you don't believe in what you are doing neither will your audience. This effect is a dream come true in the right hands.
a very stirring response to the criticism with a very nice perspective -- it wouldn't fit my routines but I have a better appreciation for the gimmick, now. Thanks, MMP
Now just picture for a moment a piece of CLAY that has NEVER been in a shape of a Little Man and has NEVER been alive and has never walked (and to top it off has NO KNEES, NO ANKLES and No experience in walking) how do you honestly picture this piece of clay walking? Remember we as Magicians HAVE to see in our minds how this would look in real life PRIOR to us ever being able to sell the idea to an audience.
Lets also remember another point. Now think about this. If you are really bringing to life a lump of clay do you really believe it will walk perfectly? When we send people into space for months on end with zero gravity and return them home have you ever seen the acclamation they go through to relearn how to walk?
You know a doctor would have a blast with this thread. Just a few things to consider as far as our Little Man is concerned. In order for him to "walk" as has been defined here he would need KNEES so he can bend them. Little Man has no knees---in real life if you have no knees you will shuffle like this and to you it would be walking.
What have we all learned? If the ad copy sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Glad I didn't pre-order this. Sorry I have to give this one 8 out of 10 raspberries.

@mymagicplayer This sucks ass so bad you have to try and convince people its good, that how bad it blows, sorry but no one likes this ripoff piese of crap, believe me people are not going to freak when the little clay guy starts to walk.
Is paul serious? I have a working version of this sitting on my desk right now, and mine doesnt need a damn bag underneath him, yes there is a delay, and yes there is a turn. I can decide the direction i want mine to turn. i think it is really shitty of you guys to act as if " no one else could come up with this", someone else could, because another human being conceived it. this isnt that difficult to figure. if anyone wnats to know how to do this for 20 bucks, send me a private message.
I am very sorry, to have misunderstood. I am an engineer. And the beuty of magic is to fool smart people with simple methods. Not to out smart, smart people with smarter methods. Just my feelng. I believe there are many people with one version or another of this that works.
Calling THIS walking is the kind of hype they sell Sea Monkeys with in the back of comic books. Think like a spectator not like a magician. Spec's aren't stupid, it looks like a little clay figure being dragged by something I can't see. What could do that? Magnets. You can offer all kinds of proof that it's not magnets, but it would be better if you would just make it not look so AWFULLY much like magnets is the only answer.
are you people crazy!!!!!!! this is bad ass! please stop over thinking this!!! you ad a story or voodoo or spirits, some candles and some music this is copperfield like material!!!!!! dont think like a magician think like a layman!!!!!!
For some reason, it seems that everyone here is missing the point. A clay man has come to life. Does anyone here see the magic in that? I know I certainly do. the spectator helps put it together, you add a heart and BAM! It starts moving on its own. Shuffling walking....nearly the same thing. What do you think your spectators will say? Did you see him shuffle across the table? Or are they going to say "OH My God! he fucking walked!" Stop being so nitpicky and realize where the magic is.
Ok I think magnets are out of the question. The lid on the other hand is not. Its always close to the clay man. Maybe a IT reel in the lid, that is set to go off with a delay. There fore you the person are not "hooked up" as Paul stats, and no magnets theory is proven.
MJmagicPlayer, I think your kinda missing the point. Even though you have come up with a great HIGH tech way to make him move.. I looks exactly like magnets even if that isn't what you use. If people think they know how it works even if that is not the method it is pretty much rendered useless.
this particular trick, although a very neat idea just seems to fall short. the add states "YES, HE'S MOVING FORWARD AND ACTUALLY WALKING... ONE ASTONISHING STEP AT A TIME!"
a step is defined as "The single complete movement of raising one foot and putting it down in another spot, as in walking."
this thing shuffles along.
shuffle is defined as
" to move (the feet) with a slow dragging motion".
Maybe semantically the word walk is not what you are expecting, but if you think of a zombie or Frankenstein, it is the same movement. Many magicians are going to do this as a Voodoo routine, and will be perfect for that.
i was so excited to see this trick , and being a long time p.h fanatic was totally ready to throw down the 300 for this. after seeing this, i cant help but feel that paul is trying to make a quick buck off of something even he knows is not up to par. and thats what bugs me about this so much. I bought t.a. and thought it was great, your books are amazing, but i just cannot see myself spending the 300 for this, and it seems alot of folks agree.
First time seeing this but heard alot of hype. If I were a spectator I would definetly agree there is a magnet somewhere by the way it walks! Let me examine it. I bet I'll find it. I don't know of many tricks I can't find the gimmick If I get to examine it.Unless it's removed first! .way over priced! My opinion! Not impressed with this one. sorry!
I like this. I have been waiting for months for this demo. I must say at first, my expectations were not met. No actual steps or anything that remotely resembled a step was made. I was also disappointed that something was actually added to the clay even when the add stated other wise. Still in all....I will be picking this up. Very strong visual. I enjoyed the reveal...as well as the idea of lighting the flashpaper.
To address the little pieces of paper, which have nothing to do with the Little Man, we are also going to have a naked version of LIttle Man on the DVD, for those who don't want to play dress up.
Just wanted you to know the clay (as we have said before) is NORMAL not magnetized
clay that you can buy from your local toy store.
Those who keep saying it is magnetic are
not reading what we are posting.
This is a very complex mechanism and
even those who know the basics of how it works are awed by the technology. None of you could come close to duplicating something like this without years of engineering work.
"His entire clay body VISIBLY TURNS AND LURCHES FORWARD with each dramatic step" I missed the dramatic step that he takes...not what i expected after months of waiting. Not complaining about the price just not what I envisioned.
Let me guess. You have a full sized poster of Paul Harris in his speedo's on your bedroom door and a piece of his moustache hair in a jar under your bed.
From a technical stand point, I'm sure this is a very impressive gimmick. However, if you actually wanted to convince an audience that you could make a clay man come to life (why you would, I don't know) this would not be the effect to do it.
i agree with bendy. the idea is awesome. this doesnt look like its come to life, it looks like its being pulled. honestly, this same effect can be reproduced with a good I.T. reel. the exact same effect, except with an I.T. reel hooked up you can move him along a bare table top, or a floor, there is no need to have a bag under him.
I mean -- by having such an elaborate setup, you're just inviting people to speculate about how it's done. Whether they get it right or not, your answer will always be the same (some form of denial/dodge) and the visual just looks like a novelty toy.
Is it cool? yes is it worth $300? maybe...depends on how much you've got. Will it actually fool anyone over the age of three? Technically but not in the true sense of the word.
i honestly feel that this will not hit the emotional home run it was intended too. i mean, shit.. who wouldnt be amazed if a clay figure came to life. it just doesnt look like its alive. it looks like something ss.adams would have put out, or maybe royal magic. it just doesnt look like it should have pauls name on it. i think it will "fool" spectators, but not astonish, and that is the end goal.
Ok I agree with the over price. $300 bucks is a little steep. Even $150 would keep it out of Youtube magicians, and not worry about exposure. but now of course we want to see another demo, in real world working conditions and with out the shoes on him. You give us a little , now we want more.
I think the price is right. Its to keep it out of the hands of the Blaine and Angel wanna Be's. If it were cheaper all you little bitch bastard will be putting up shitty demos on YouTube, that will basically expose the trick.
Good effect Paul...really it is...but not for 300 bucks....You can state how each one is made by hand and add free shipping ..BUT..that still doesn't justify that price.
Excellent effect. This would be a true miracle as far as lay audiences are involved. I wonder if they can just grab everything and examine them in the middle or immediately after the effect, or is there going to be clean up on the performers part right after.
Ok at last we see this Little Man in action. I have to say I like it. We had so much hype about we built it up in our mind that it did something more, but in reality this Little creation is a work of genious, Good job you guys.
he doesnt walk, he shuffles. the advert made me belive he would actually move his feet. not his whole bodie at once. has potential. glad i didnt preorder though. sorry paul. love your books though.
I'd say it's probably done with magnets. 300 bucks for some modeling clay, flash paper, and some matches? Now, if you can get people to buy this expensive trick with not too impressive effect, then...YOU ARE A REAL MAGICIAN!....

Looking forward to more, and triple looking forward to March.

If you think this of Little man as a reputation maker. Good luck.
RS1963 1 year ago
@krmarlo Its been a year now, hows this piece working out for you, seriously please respond.
TheBradTobin 10 months ago
@TheBradTobin Heh...I 100% stand behind my ideas for how I would have approached the presentation of this effect for my act, sadly, the creative team backed off and never released the guy. Oh well...a year ago I moved on.
Way to try to start a pointless prick-waving contest though. You're a gem, Brad. Have a magical day!
krmarlo 10 months ago
@krmarlo Thanks! I didnt think you would have responded, but even though this is a piece of crap , the question was sincere, i truly wanted to know how people took it. I didnt know it wasnt realeased, Thank God, and i would like to know what presentation you were planning on, i could see this being performed with a great story, and it being very entertaining, but the entertainment would be coming from the story and not the magic.
TheBradTobin 10 months ago
@TheBradTobin Magic IS entertainment, period. The strongest comes from heart/story/presentation/connection...the equipment is, frankly, meaningless.
Being a "Move-Monkey" has a place, and has it's impressive look, but without establishing connection and great presentation/acting it's just forgotten "acrobatics".
While I won't share what I have/had in mind for this little guy, I'll say that the room for a poignant and intriguing lead-in coupled with the right timing is surely there for gasps.
krmarlo 10 months ago
So this is very impressive.
TomSwirly 2 years ago
wow......u guys stop hating it cause of the price.....maybe the gimmick is really worth it because they wont make a trick that worth $300 for a invisible thread or reel.....maybe its something else.
adriandwayneacuna 2 years ago
speaking as a magician of 32 years, I can safely tell you that SOME magicians will indeed sell a trick for $300 that only uses IT or a reel. Just look at Elevator(or Elevator II)...or anything that elusionist puts out... I'm not saying PH is doing this but it does happen.

"Two words for everyone:
Invisible thread
Reel
For $300?
No thanks. "
actually knew what they were talking about, they would realize that invisible thread is number one not strong enough to hold and pull that heavy of a clay piece, they would also realize that simply using "thread and a reel" to create this movement, is in short...impossible. try it, it wont work. this is a great thing, and im really sorry alot of you cant see that
TheMycoolwould 2 years ago
also, i would like to say this... if all of you have "figured this out" and "know exactly whats happening" how come none of you have posted your little rendition of this online somewhere? if you know how to recreate this already, then why are you so upset at the price. you shouldnt need to buy it, since you know how to make it... could it be that you dont know how its done? could it be that you all actually dont know what you are talking about? yeah, i think thats it...
TheMycoolwould 2 years ago
or it could be that the effect isn't good enough to really justify spending the time/effort/money on. I know the secret for certain but don't think it's strong enough to waste the money on collecting the pieces needed to reproduce.

first of all, in case you didnt know
" Invisible thread, reel, for 300?, no thanks"
is actually six words, not two.
secondly, it is not invisible thread. as i stated before , i have a working version of this, it took alot of trial and error, and i can tell you this... invisible thread is not used, period. this is a great thing once you actually see it happen in front of you. buy it and see for yourselves if you dont believe me

MagicOfNorway123 1 year ago
If they really want people to put up the $300 they're going to have to make a video in front of spectators in a real world situation. We all know what it looks like. The only way we can tell if this trick is fully examinable, w/ no switches, is with an audience. The ad says "Empty bag and container can be freely handled by audience at END of effect." Can the bag specifically be examined at the start of the effect? If so that must be one hell of a bag.
DoctorColonelGonzo 2 years ago
That is a truly beautiful and astounding effect. Dai Vernon knew what he was talking about when he called Paul Harris the greatest mind in magic. He doesn't just put out tricks - he puts out _art_. I won't be buying it any time soon b/c my bank account is still recovering from True Astonishments, but still . . . if I was a full time pro, I think I would make the investment.
YankHoe 2 years ago 2
To me it doesn't look like much in the vid, but with great magicians get this in there hands on this effect will be the best thing EVER. Don't get me wrong PH is a good magician a very dam good one. This vid doesn't do justice. I can see so many routines with this. I might not get it the day it comes out, but it is one of the effects I would consider buying. Probably one of the top ten tricks in 2010!
magic1926 2 years ago
@magic1926 it cost 300 a gimmick
realchaos207 2 years ago
If you are new to magic (which I am assuming you are) you have to understand that it is expensive. It is more expensive than Warhammer 40,000, Paintball combined. I would Rather put 300 dollars down for a good quality trick than a piece of shit copy of this effect. So in closing Yes it is 300 dollars a gimmick, but sometimes that's what you have to pay for a good quality trick. People buy designer pants for 300 bucks. This trick is a designer trick. You are going to pay top dollar for it!
magic1926 2 years ago
see you have the money to put down, i also been a walk-around magician for 4 years now. i am 16 and its hard for me to find money so unlike you i cant just shit money. i agree to find a good quality magic trick you need money, but i don't agree with magic trick because it looks like a really bad magic trick . ooo wow hes walking. and...
realchaos207 2 years ago
True it is hard to find money for magic like that. But being a good magician means that you can come up with your own routine. I have been in magic for 11.5 years now. The trick may look stupid to you now, but I bet it will sell out at this years WMS and IBM conventions. Yah I can't shit money, and if I could I would by brand named illusions and other tricks. This is more of an accessory than it is a trick because you can do so much stuff to it.
magic1926 2 years ago
thanks for understanding.
realchaos207 2 years ago
Sorry to discourage you but. I was at W.M.S. and no one was talking about this. I didn't see it there either. But All the times I was in the dealers room I did not even once hear anyone ask any dealer such as Steven's Magic Emporium if they had this available for sale at the convention.
RS1963 1 year ago
The effect is good, ..... but, ......... I find in Magic that if an effect can be easily assumed to be done a certain way by the viewers, then the effect looses it's impact. Doesn't matter if they are right or not, it will loose it's impact. Isn't the mission to do something which is "unexplainable"? Most viewers will immediately assume a magnet under the surface and in the clay, which was palmed and taken away before inspection. Again, doesn't matter if they are right or not., impact is lost.

END OF POST:
I believe in the right hands this effect has great potential. But I would recommend it for people who have that certain imagination and can perform it in a way that people will believe they are seeing a piece of clay come to life. Always remember a very important rule in Magic and Mentalism---If you don't believe in what you are doing neither will your audience. This effect is a dream come true in the right hands.

Now just picture for a moment a piece of CLAY that has NEVER been in a shape of a Little Man and has NEVER been alive and has never walked (and to top it off has NO KNEES, NO ANKLES and No experience in walking) how do you honestly picture this piece of clay walking? Remember we as Magicians HAVE to see in our minds how this would look in real life PRIOR to us ever being able to sell the idea to an audience.
mymagicplayer 2 years ago
Lets also remember another point. Now think about this. If you are really bringing to life a lump of clay do you really believe it will walk perfectly? When we send people into space for months on end with zero gravity and return them home have you ever seen the acclamation they go through to relearn how to walk?
mymagicplayer 2 years ago
For those of you who ONLY seem to have
negative comments to make about Little Man...
Here is a post sent to me:
You know a doctor would have a blast with this thread. Just a few things to consider as far as our Little Man is concerned. In order for him to "walk" as has been defined here he would need KNEES so he can bend them. Little Man has no knees---in real life if you have no knees you will shuffle like this and to you it would be walking.
mymagicplayer 2 years ago
Fantastic!

It is really disheartening to see that the clay man doesn't move as described in the ad copy.
It shuffled, looked magnetic & I doubt it wd even astonish, unlike what Paul wd hv wanted us to think. Sorry Paul.

I can decide the direction i want mine to turn. i think it is really shitty of you guys to act as if " no one else could come up with this", someone else could, because another human being conceived it. this isnt that difficult to figure. if anyone wnats to know how to do this for 20 bucks, send me a private message.

I am sorry if you misread my post. I said
Paul would buy 1000 of these items from him
if indeed it is the same working effect,
not $1000. Considering we spent two years with two engineers to work this out, we are
honestly very interested to find out if someone
has a simpler, more cost effective method
of doing the exact same effect under the same conditions.
Janet

I am very sorry, to have misunderstood. I am an engineer. And the beuty of magic is to fool smart people with simple methods. Not to out smart, smart people with smarter methods. Just my feelng. I believe there are many people with one version or another of this that works.
alex26i 2 years ago
Everyone is wondering how that is done to move the dough, not the reaction that the audience will, so we must try and then we'll see.
I think what makes this game more magical is that everything is examinable and can be done in almost any situation.

If people think they know how it works even if that is not the method it is pretty much rendered useless.
alex26i 2 years ago
It walks like South Park characters. Or maybe Gumby.
Ray
raykosby 2 years ago
this particular trick, although a very neat idea just seems to fall short. the add states "YES, HE'S MOVING FORWARD AND ACTUALLY WALKING... ONE ASTONISHING STEP AT A TIME!"
a step is defined as "The single complete movement of raising one foot and putting it down in another spot, as in walking."
this thing shuffles along.
shuffle is defined as
" to move (the feet) with a slow dragging motion".
THIS IS NOT WALKING JANET!!!
TheMycoolwould 2 years ago
Maybe semantically the word walk is not what you are expecting, but if you think of a zombie or Frankenstein, it is the same movement. Many magicians are going to do this as a Voodoo routine, and will be perfect for that.
There is no magnet in the clay. You can use
clay from the toy store, any color, and you
do not have to put paper cards on his feet
to work.

i was so excited to see this trick , and being a long time p.h fanatic was totally ready to throw down the 300 for this. after seeing this, i cant help but feel that paul is trying to make a quick buck off of something even he knows is not up to par. and thats what bugs me about this so much. First time seeing this but heard alot of hype. If I were a spectator I would definetly agree there is a magnet somewhere by the way it walks! Let me examine it. I bet I'll find it.

To address the little pieces of paper, which have nothing to do with the Little Man, we are also going to have a naked version of LIttle Man on the DVD, for those who don't want to play dress up.

hello Youtube posters
Just wanted you to know the clay (as we have said before) is NORMAL not magnetized
clay that you can buy from your local toy store.
Those who keep saying it is magnetic are
not reading what we are posting.
This is a very complex mechanism and
even those who know the basics of how it works are awed by the technology. None of you could come close to duplicating something like this without years of engineering work.
Thank you.

whatthefluk 2 years ago
From a technical stand point, I'm sure this is a very impressive gimmick. However, if you actually wanted to convince an audience that you could make a clay man come to life (why you would, I don't know) this would not be the effect to do it.
Bendyboy3921 2 years ago
i agree with bendy. the idea is awesome. this doesnt look like its come to life, it looks like its being pulled. honestly, this same effect can be reproduced with a good I.T. reel. the exact same effect, except with an I.T. reel hooked up you can move him along a bare table top, or a floor, there is no need to have a bag under him.
TheMycoolwould 2 years ago
I mean -- by having such an elaborate setup, you're just inviting people to speculate about how it's done. Whether they get it right or not, your answer will always be the same (some form of denial/dodge) and the visual just looks like a novelty toy.
Is it cool? yes is it worth $300? maybe...depends on how much you've got. Will it actually fool anyone over the age of three? Technically but not in the true sense of the word.
Bendyboy3921 2 years ago
i honestly feel that this will not hit the emotional home run it was intended too. i mean, shit.. who wouldnt be amazed if a clay figure came to life. it just doesnt look like its alive. it looks like something ss.adams would have put out, or maybe royal magic. it just doesnt look like it should have pauls name on it. i think it will "fool" spectators, but not astonish, and that is the end goal.
TheMycoolwould 2 years ago
Ok I agree with the over price. $300 bucks is a little steep. Even $150 would keep it out of Youtube magicians, and not worry about exposure. but now of course we want to see another demo, in real world working conditions and with out the shoes on him. You give us a little , now we want more.
nailbittter 2 years ago
I think the price is right. Its to keep it out of the hands of the Blaine and Angel wanna Be's. If it were cheaper all you little bitch bastard will be putting up shitty demos on YouTube, that will basically expose the trick.
