Take the Field Manual album, put Ben Gibbard on lead vocals, maybe rework some of the lyrics to match his style, release it as a Death Cab album, and you would have had a far more successful and less polarizing record than Narrow Stairs, which was released the same year. Every song on this record is clever, catchy pop at its best, and could have been a Death Cab classic.
