i couldnt believe that parrying him would be so easy. i went fuckin berserk after getting my ass handed to me trying to beat him with normal battle tactics. then one time i walk in as a teeny weeny skinny thief and parry-rape his ass. that day i saved my soul!

the boss fight is epic at the start but it slowly reduces to parrying stupidness

Came into this boss with.

Weapon: Black Knights Greatsword +5

Rings: Hornet Ring, Ring of Favor and Fortune

Shield: Black Knights Shield

Spell: Great Magic Shield (Makes you invincible for 20 or so seconds)

I beat him in 3 counters and one hit! :D

Tip: the Target Shield (specifically meant for parrying) has a longer parry animation. It makes parrying Gwyn noticeably easier.

@Labiec123w Correct sir, heavy shield are doing bashing attack, this game is brilliant, frustrating but when you get something done you feel soooo good!, if you buy it, dont give up too soon, you can do it even if it takes time at start

I blocked every one of his attacks, and attacked dealing around 30 damage. I beat him in 15 minutes, at level 47. It scared the hell out of me.

It kind of irritates me how they put little to no work to the end of the game. When you walk in the room theirs no cinematic, the boss is a push over, and when the ending comes on it's SO short, and isn't even that good.

@shadows124 there actually IS a cutscene, but when you fail and retry the boss, any boss, they just come right at you after that. you'll notice that he died there before thanks to his old souls. therefore, no cutscene for his second try.

can anyone tell me what soul of gwyn is good for ? should i use it, or create a weapon with it?

@Rakkersen There's two uses for it. Either upgrade any normal sword to +10 and use the soul with the Londo blacksmith to get Gwyn's sword (it kinda sucks), or once you reach the second rank of the sunlight covenant, you can offer the soul at the altar to learn Sunlight Spear. There may be more, but that's all I've found.

@Stophocles not backstab. parry / riposte. does more damage than backstab. Also he's using hawk ring, which really bumps critical damage. On this point, I'm kinda sad they got rid of fatal upgrades from demons souls, now you have to use a ring slot, and anyone can do it. kinda liked having dedicated upgrade paths for different classes (thief=fatal; magician=crescent; priest=blessed; barbarian=crushing; wanderer=sharp, etc.etc.) dunno, what do you guys think?

I think parry is the fastest way to win this fight (and maybe the easiest...). @Massacretalitor: that's because, as you say, you have alredy played D'S so many times... I've played it a LOT too (10 playtrough i think) and I've foudn this new game pretty easy, just like you. But I think that it will be very HARD for new players. For the "magic", well... I found it great as D'S was. But that's just my opinion ^^

I simply did not see the same 'magic' in this game as I did in Demon's Souls. Overall the level design was sloppy, and only areas like Anor Londo and that stunning (*SPOLER*) hidden area below Blighttown (you know, where you fight yet another Hydra) truly stood out. I was extremely disappointed with this one : / It wasn't hard at all, only like 3 bosses which gave me pretty hard time with dying over 5 times. Took 50+ hours to beat, probably because I completed Demon's Souls so many times...

@lamenotcool You hit the parry button RIGHT as they swing, otherwise you'll go too early, and be hit, or too late and be hit. Good note: The early enemies are SLOW! So expect that! Some of their attacks are so slow I end up parrying way before ready! Then to counter, just hit the attack button right after a parry.

He didn't farm he just ran through story mode now me i beat it in 129 hr why I have most of all the trophies moslty all rare weapons like titanite catch pole very rare drop need it for plat all pryo spells moslty all sorcery spells missing one mostly all miracles missing two all conventents join :) but good job on fight but me I iron flesh through lord gywnn
