Great--I'm totally into the stuff you're doing. One guitar-playing note--John Hurt seemed to hook his thumb over the low E string at the first fret to get a low-bass F note for his rhythm when playing in the key of C. Do you ever do that? Just wondered--took me a while to figure this out..

I heard this the first time as I learned tolay guitar. The owner said "If you learn these songs, you can teach me"

Years later, I became homeless. But I worked everyday....lived in an abondonded warehouse.

I always thought of this song as I would lay on the floor to sleep.

The next day, at work no one knew I had no bathroom or shower.

It was something so simple then. A place to lay down safe, that I loved. Anyway...

This seems to me closer to Doc Watson's treatment of this tune than to Mississippi John's.

I think this was the right choice: your voice has a plaintive Country wistfulness.

I think it is a definitive version.

those light gauge strings? the E7 should crush the the c before it. and remember each verse pauses fo a 2/4 beat of c7th--thats what makes the song somehow.
