I'm looking into buying either a Thruxton or the Bonneville. cant make up my mind which i like better. Whats the difference? im new to motorcycles, i saw a thruxton parked outside my favorite bar and i fell in love with it. but now im curious about the Bonneville.
@PandaInTheMist , They are basically the same bike. The differences are that the Thrux has a different camshaft which gives it a little more horsepower, and the seating position is different, with lower bars and rearset footpegs on the Thrux.
@THEinspectigator The username implies nothing, it was simply a random number that seemed slightly motorcycle related to me. Usually when one of these is bored out it becomes a 904. Mine is not bored out.
Your Bonnie looks and sounds great! One thing I like about the Bubs 2-to-2 rig is that it includes new chrome headers. Now, after some time has passed, are these "blueing" excessively? (Do you have the air injector removed which helps alleviate the blueing)?
Wanted to thank you for your video-after having seen what could be done to a bonneville I'm making the purchase. Your modifications are awsome- saying awsome may sound sophmoric but that's from the gut. Thanks!
at first I was a little uncomfortable, but got used to it pretty quickly. I tried to make the grip part of the bars as close to horizontal as possible. At speed they feel really nice but I think it might make you more prone to speeding, it did me.
Sat on a thruxton this morning; good for 30 mins, then you'd need a chiropractor methinks...it's bonneville all the way dude.

@roadrash998 Well, please excuse me, I got the numbers mixed up. Cause there are kits for 995 and 989 as well, you can see how 998 seemed possible.

@THEinspectigator Yep, no worries.

I do have the air injectors removed. They are not blueing at all. Thanks for the compliments.

It's a Fulmer V2 helmet. I got mine at my local BMW Triumph Ducati daler here in LIttle Rock, Arkansas. It does fit very snugly.

How do you like those ace bars for riding comfort? Does it wear you out fast?

It's coming along nicely. The Bubs sound cool, and not something that 2 out of every 3 trumpies is wearing.
What's next? Mikunis?

The engine work is all done. Removed airbox and rejetted and called it good. Rearsets and a tach will finish it out. Thanks for the compliment.
