I remember the very first time I listened to the complete Cantonese teach yourself I was like "There is NOOOOO way on this planet that up will ever learn this" and now I'm starting to understand movies in Cantonese movies at full speed :D :D

this is very motivating! but I was disappointed you didn't practice Arabic, anyway, I got a question, I'm not sure about your level in all of these languages you practiced, but do you ask natives to slow down? I'm meeting up with an American every once in a while, she's learning my dialect of Arabic, and I practice speaking English, but she keeps telling me to slow my Arabic to extreme levels it's not even fun anymore. I like to help her, but it's not natural this way. what do you think?

@AysarAburrub I really only ask the native to slow down if I can't understand completely.

I would say just keep speaking at normal speed. If she doesn't understand than it's ok to repeat. She just needs to be patient. In time it will start to become second nature to her. She needs to continue listening to Arabic and meeting with you at the same time.

Yea, I was looking to practice some Arabic!! Maybe next time.

@laoshu505000 it's a bit funny you said she has to be patient ... she told me she wants natives to be more patient with her lol. I know language exchange needs patience from both sides, but I mean c'mon, slowing down this much isn't good for anyone. I'd love to meet up with her more often but it's not easy considering we're both too busy.
