Thanks for posting these. I'm an atheist too, and I find religion somewhat hard to believe in. Have always had serious doubts Your posting of these videos might help in understanding the viewpoint from a believer's angle.
I'm sure others will find these useful too, and judging from the number of viewers, they probably have.
EVID3NC3, you should be a professor/ and or public speaker. your mental coordination is sound, and is each one of your videos has demonstrated this. thanks mate.
I spent six hours yesterday watching your video series (I watched it twice). I had never seen the information presented so well and thoroughly. While I wasn't familiar with all the concepts, I found it a great place to start in educating myself. Personally, I think it takes a lot of courage to have made this and was thinking it would be a fantastic feature film. I shared the video with my Christian questioning boyfriend. I am looking forward to discussing his reaction. In short, thank you.
Logical arguments and debates killed my faith, honestly. I love to debate, and I also studied the bible like a mad woman for years. The argument of Freedom of Choice was my big thing. If God gave all humans freedom of choice, then how are we on a set path designed by him? Wouldn't that cancel itself out? No one ever had an answer for me that wasn't completely jaded.
@spontaneityis God refuses to make choices for you. Your choices, however, are limited in their scope - God's are not. One big stumbling block for TRUE seekers is that we tend to view God's authority in terms of our own. Remember, we have an authority over only our own lives; He has authority over all life. Your authority affects you; His authority affects all. You and I choose our paths: His plan determines the outcome. As God, He must have an authority you or I could never have.
@spontaneityis Logic cannot answer why the universe was created, or why there is so much varied and beautiful life on this planet. I have still to see a chinese or japanese looking monkey (Darwin), and where is the scientific proof that we were not created? Some of us are born free, others not so. Men kill men, the almighty leaves it to us to make a choice. 10 little guides to be a good person, the almighty did not want to be worshipped. You may have lost faith-he believes in us
@mumblejunkie Didn't want to be worshiped? The first 3 of those "10 little guides" are demanding exactly that, and there ARE species of monkey native to China. As for why so much variation of life, that actually is an argument against God. If God created this world for us, why create parasites on fish that never normally come anywhere near a fisherman's nets? Such massive diversity is evidence of random mutation and natural selection, not some designer who designed 50,000 species of beetle
@spontaneityis I also have trouble with this concept. For example, if somebody had to betray Jesus because of some OT prophecy, then why was Judas at fault for choosing to do so? Absolutely the only explanation I can think of is that if Judas hadn't chosen to do so, the prophecy would not have been made. Let's say there's a God who can observe the totality of time. Then our choices would be foreknown, and thus predestined: there is no other possibility for us except to follow our choices (?)
That is EXACTLY what I was arguing the other day. That argument is a faith-killer...what about this one? If God knows EVERYTHING (including the path we are going to choose because it was chosen by him, yikes!) why does he get so angry when we do what we do? (i.e. Adam and Eve) If God knows what people will do, why does he punish them when they do? Why does he get so angry and lash out when he already knew what would happen? haha... this is a maze now. I hope u get my drift...lol
@blazearmoru These were no small feats on any level for me, but I don't expect sharing would have any change in your own opinion. It simply aids me in my faith of my own God. As I would say it, Merry Christmas this season to you. Hope you have had a happy holiday season.
@blazearmoru I know my education isn't exactly extensive, but as you used the example of not replicating a chance experience as creating you own miracle, I have had a similar experience of the opposite. I have also been "healed" through prayer, beyond a point of doubt in my own respect, to further prove God's existence to me.
@Solfay243 I'm glad you were healed but depending on what the problem was, don't forget to also attribute some of the healing to doctors, nurses, psychology (Placebo and others). Sorry, it's just that I get a little irritated when I hear people attribution their recovery to god while ignoring the decades of research and decades of medical training along with hours of working on a patient by doctors and surgeons, though that's probably not what you're claiming.
@blazearmoru don't worry, i am extremely thankful to those who have committed so much of their life to studying the ailments of others. :] i share in your irritation of those who make these claims without considering those who helped in the process. i also thank God for allowing doctors to work on me and, perhaps to your own discomfort, for their ability to study much and work effectively. i do not claim that they had divine intelligence, but potential, which they put to good use.
@blazearmoru In my own experiences, my little miracles that have occurred to me often point me towards a greater faith in my God as well and not only just some great deed that has occurred. I am by no means another "backwards Christian" as many may like to think and acknowledge all of your arguments, but still have to say that I disagree. I was simply interested in seeing how some atheists may look at miracles. Thank you for your time, it's been interesting.
@blazearmoru I feel it is extremely ignorant to proclaim something as a "miracle" simply on the basis of not knowing how it happened and believe me when I say I don't proclaim something a miracle often if at all. A miracle in my view is something that, once all other possibilities are exhausted, is the only viable explanation.
@Solfay243 Sorry, I want to clear something up since I'm still confused about something. By miracle, you mean something that is outside the realms of the natural laws and such? Something that breaks the laws of physics, or math or anything of that sort? I'm just curious about your statement of "all other possibilities" so I was wondering just how much you know about the laws of the universe and the events that happen in it to be able to claim such a thing. By the way, happy holidays.
@blazearmoru I don't blame you for asking as I would definitely would if I was in your own situation. To give you an idea of my education I am currently a bioengineering student at UC Riverside. I am a product of the Southern California public education system and have gone through extra schooling on the side at various community colleges and such.
hi! i'm a christian watching this series out of curiosity and just wanted to be a stickler about something. i agree with your map of sub-beliefs, but i also wanted to point out that you don't take miracles into account. what if a person has a personal miracle occur to them that can be attributed to no one else but God? how do you think that works into the equation?
@Solfay243 The thing with attributing "miracles" to a god is the fact that a miracle is something that happens that surpasses our human understanding (at the moment), so to explain it, they just say a god did it. You also cannot use personal experiences to prove a god, because it would only have been some kind of proof to you and not to someone else.
@Solfay243 Would a miracle include something like chance? If it does then here's a simple way to explain it (for chance). Take out a dice then roll the dice 10 times, writing down the number each time. Then re-roll the dice in sequences of 10 times and try to match the earlier numbers (no cheating ^_~). Give up? it's impossible right? The chances are 1 in 60million! Did YOU just achieve a miracle? Now think about just 1 day at a casino with all the games in that order, what then?
@Solfay243 Otherwise, Mosan13 should of pretty much covered the rest. If you define miracle by something that you cannot understand how it could possibly of happened (so you resort by attributing it to your deity of choice), then not to be rude but isn't saying "I don't know so god did it." just a little bit awkward from an objective point of view? or maybe "we don't know so god did it". Then there's the whole, show me proof part. If it's a miracle and cannot be done by human efforts: no proof?
@blazearmoru I totally respect your arguments and even agree to a degree. As Mosan13 did say, using personal experiences to prove a god are useless with others b/c they didn't experience that, but that would come in line directly with my thoughts on a personal God. I also don't disagree with your ideas of rolling dice.
@itsjustameme LOL don't make me laugh, please. Evolution doesn't just happen from 'nothing', and is obvious it happens AFTER that something has been created first. And you don't want to accept, it's God that created everything first. Why is it that atheists are so firm to believe otherwise? Just accept there is a God!
The reason I am quoting is because it is the Holy words of God. What my opinion is not of wisdom, only that of Gods, so why follow what I have to say? Do you worship human beings?
"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." (Corinthians 4:18)
"If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered." (Proverbs, 21:13)
"For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear." (Timothy 4:3)
Pentecostal Christians are not known to have a very deep understanding of Theology. Their teachings relying mostly on feelings. As you watch these videos understand this... He has spent nearly all of his study on scholarly work that debunks the bible... Very little of the more numerous Biblical Apologist scholarly works over the centuries and of today. Despite that fact.. it can not be stated enough... every video here demonstrates a very shallow understanding of Christianity.
Ah, Christian elitism. But go on then-expound for us on the unfathomable depths of the Bible. Show us the hidden secrets of a disorganized, pseudo-metaphorical text that can be interpreted in a bajillion ways, O Sagacious Lord of Wisdom.
@thirstforwind On the contrary, these videos demonstrate that the narrator has a very deep and intimate understand, not only of Christianity, but of the psychology of religion in general. And one does not need to memorize every single tenet of a religion, or read every book written about it, to realize that it's bunk.
@thirstforwind Yet you can't point to where he was wrong in anything that he said, and you ignore the fact that he's read the works of plenty of scientific minds that made apologetic arguments in favor of god. No, you would rather shut your ears and say, "Nope nope nope. He didn't understand christianity."
There is nothing warm and joy filled in the author's delivery. Anyone searching just listen to him and compare with those who have found Jesus. Also, keep in mind that we are entitled to our own opinion but not our own facts. The Bible is fact and everything Jesus did and said in it is a fact. Unanswered prayer and philosophical leanings can't change that. As for the author, I WILL PRAY FOR YOU IN JESUS' NAME.
@GladYouAsked These "facts" you speak of are more like rumors and myths. Theologians agree that none of the so-called "apostles" were around by the time that Jesus died, and all of their accounts of his life and works were written LONG after he was dead. Hell, all of their accounts are contradictory, too!
You couldn't trust any of these guys to be credible eye witnesses in a worldly, petty trial. Yet you would take their word when it comes to choosing a so-called "god"?...
Evid3nc3: I'm pleasantly surprised by the sophistication and quality of these videos. Usually, videos of this kind are poorly made and only show the narrator's room, illuminated only by a desk lamp, all rendered in all the glory 240p can give us.
ItsSiMe2011, who are you to say these people are "miserable and feel empty"? Doesn't your religion tell you only god can judge? That's part of what made me realize religion is BS: hypocrites like you that call themselves Christians
@cesar4324 I'm not judging, mostly saying what the reality of it is! I should know, I was there once myself. Based on myself and many others I know, I can judge. Not in a bad way, just to help people recognize how different it is compared to being worldly or spiritual. I'm sorry if you think I'm a hypocrite, it's not my intentions, really. I just want everyone's soul to be saved. I care for people! We really do have souls, please believe that at least!
Its so sad to see people being converted out of the christian life - exactly what the devils wants, to have no communion with our Lord. I pray that these people will have God in their life again, because without God, we are truly miserable inside and feel empty. True, there can be deceit and lies within a church, but that shouldn't put people off finding the RIGHT church, who can then be close to God! Don't let the devil fill your head with lies 'there is no God' its not true!
@ItsSoMe2011 Becoming an atheist was the greatest thing that ever happened to me and it made me happier than anything else did. Living with Christianity is like living in "the funny farm".
@LordKombox You must of had a bad experience, it shouldn't be like that. Being a christian should just mean to do what's right, to have boundaries, yes, but there's nothing funny about it. At least there shouldn't be! When you give your life to Christ, it just means that Jesus will look after you, in times of need. If we do everything ourselves, things go wrong, we get depressed, feel angry, feel empty and helpless. Having Jesus in my life is the most fulfilling to me!
@ItsSoMe2011 I had no bad experience, Atheism made me view the world with such a brighter light. Thinking about the history that all the plants, people, and planets came from the stars, and thinking about the long processes of evolution that got everything to how it is today makes me smile. It makes me smile more than the idea of some angry space dictator owning me.
@LordKombox Ok if that makes you happy, I won't force you to believe. All I can do is give advice, and hope you will turn to Jesus, because He is the light of this dark world. There's so much evil in the world, it even gets me down at times. But it's harder to see this without Jesus. It's like He awakens you from a sleep, from all the bad doings of the world, and yu see things for what they really are. You change as a person, and become more loving, caring, when you seek Him. ;')
@ItsSoMe2011 I don't see religion as light and I don't see the world as dark. The world is fantastic but religion teaches you to be satisfied with only seeing part of it. I appreciate your intentions, but nothing will make me believe. I cannot bring myself to believe something so unscientific and illogical.
@LordKombox Well, I can also see how religion is not good, but following the good words from the Bible can only be good! Like for example 'love your enemies', or 'turn the other cheek'. These things are words spoken by Jesus, and are not dark. There are certain religions I not agree with, because they go against the rules of 'the right thing to do'. But, Christianity doesn't in many ways. It's just how we interpret the Bible. Nothing is dark of what Jesus says for us to be like ;')
@ItsSoMe2011 Wrong, read the bible from cover to cover and you'll find many terrible things. The bible is a force for evil in the world and history has shown it through all its wars and the hatred it has caused. Religion is a virus you have to be brainwashed into believing. Name one moral act committed by a person of faith that cannot be done by an un-believer. Now think of the horrible things people will do just because of their faith. The bible is not a force for good.
@LordKombox No, it's not what God says. Many of the times, it describes what men believed, and what men did, before God told them the right thing to do. Yes, there has been punishments God has done for men who have murdered, and other terrible things in the Bible, but punishment is not evil. Many times, God has shown mercy for His people, because they asked for forgiveness. If we don't ask, we don't get. Because, God wants to see we are humble, and have faith! That's all.
@ItsSoMe2011 Stay on topic. You were asked to provide one instance of a "good thing" a person of faith does that can not be done by a person of faith. I can name many BAD things people of faith do that others do not. Like hating people because they don't believe in their faith or even killing them BECAUSE of a lack of faith. Let's ask the Jews in 18th century Spain about that...
YouTube's new silly time-bar now covers up your in-video link annotations at the bottom whenever I try to mouse over them to click. If you're bored, you might want to move them at some point.
Since you don't believe god exists by definition of atheism, but money has the inscription "in god we trust" on it, please give me all your money. thanks. i can really use it right now. the more that you give, the more that i will believe!
If I understand your comment correctly, atheist's replace God with the state as their arbiter of morality. As a general statement, this is a blatantly false and bigoted idea.
Let me ask you a hypothetical question:
Since you feel that God decides morality, if he were to change his mind tomorrow and dictate that murder, lying, theft, and non-marital sex were OK, and that you would fall out of his favor if you not take part in them, would they then become morally acceptable to you?
Quran 9:32 translation: "They seek to extinguish the light of God with their mouths; but God willeth no other than to perfect his light, although the infidels be averse thereto."
Firstly I've never been religious.... and that's why I'm here... looking at other people and their deconversion stories.
You said something here... at 2:20... you said you had seen vision... explain this to me... apart from the odd hunch and coincidental dream...or odd objectively interpreted idea I have never had cisions...
What is a vision? did you actually see information you didn't previously posses or have the information to construct a new idea from...
What I don't like about christendom is how it is so stagnant. The bible is considered the final truth right? Well, then I believe it was deciphered wrong on several accounts, besides the populist sexist ideas from the time it was made.
For example I disagree with his statement about "No God = No morality". God seems more to hold a trinity like the government, police and judge in upholding those moral laws imo.
Christendom can change for the better! Mediocrity is actually a virtue where I'm from.
@ThaDane Are you attempting to interpret the bible by your understanding that democracy for example is positive, somehow a moral good or positive and therefore you can interpret democracy from the bible?
How so? and even if this is the case democracy would be just a political ideology that will die just as other have... if this is the case then the understanding you glean from the bible is clearly just your interpretation.
I am sorry I can no longer recognize the meaning behind the example.
If I tried interpreting the bible after my tirade I would be a hypocrite.
No, democracy is in no way, shape or form holier than other types of government. It can be considered by some to be more "moral" and "free" but those are abstract terms with a foundation in philosophy.
And yes, I cannot interpret the Bible for others. It's relativism.
@MumblingMickey You are correct, and TY, I was being a hypocrite back there.
One cannot consider one ideology superior to another because it all ends up in philosophy and ethics.
And yes, anything I read in the bible cannot be interpreted for others, cuz they read it differently. Even if the bible is perfect, then if I, an imperfect being, reads it and lectures another imperfect being on it, we will not have understood the real thing. It's a part of relativism.
@ThaDane Well If we all disagree about the interpretation then the book itself cannot contain any absolute truth.
Which would lead to the ultimate question....why would any deity choose such a non absolute method of communication? It sort of defeats the entire purpose... in fact the world would be more harmonious without it.
Which would lead to the conclusion that if a deity is truly all knowing, and knows of such human imperfections it done that deliberately! Ergo such a deity is malevolent.
Memories. My father was an AG minister for many years. I had actually forgotten probably on purpose about Royal Rangers. My deconversion began when I started accepting my sexual orientation, discovering all the inaccuracies in scripture and mistranslations, etc. When the church split, and half the congregation went apeshit on my family and tried to destroy our lives, that helped also.
I did go thru an atheist phase, but its not for me. Im a mix of new thought & gnosticism now.
To find one's way out of religious delusion, it takes the believer courage to personally challenge what and why they actually accept those beliefs. It is a personal journey of discovery & can only be taken by that person. One cannot be aruged into it but one can be made to think about it if challenged. I took that journey for myself over 30 yrs ago and have never looked back. What I found outside of religion was the ultimate awesomeness of reality. There is no comparison. Religion=death cult
@RhondaH You are being awfully harsh. Religion isn't THAT bad.
If people took the core values of their religions seriously then I would gladly sign up for most of them.
What I am trying to say is, it's as black and white as you say and your last statement is quite offensive and counterproductive. I won't make the mistake of boxing people into a "religious box" and an "atheist box".
Your statement actually reinforces my belief mentioned above.
@ThaDane The problem is that the 'core' is debatable, and is debated amongst religious folk. In all religions you have sects that can range from the esoteric to the literalistic. Of course there are people and sects that sit on different parts of the spectrum. Also laws, war, and morality massively impact human life around the globe. From the young girl recently beaten to death inspired by christianity, to suicide bombers inspired by Islam, etc. From sharia law, to pro-life christians.
When I was young I believed because my parents did. I took it seriously but never felt the way many people seem to - that I was having some kind of relationship with God. When I was 19 I became an atheist. I don't remember exactly how, but it took about three months. I suppose the illustration in the video sums it up - those sub-beliefs fell until there was very little left. It didn't take long to sweep away the remains.
The interconnectedness of beliefs applies not just to believing in God, but in most complex beliefs and opinions. For instance, someone who believes germ theory or the theories in quantum physics to be correct in explaining natural phenomena has a matrix of many different reasons for that belief. The interconnectedness of beliefs doesn't apply only to believing in God.
This is one of the most exciting deconversion explanations I've heard yet on YouTube. The "Mega-belief" theory is excellent, and explains so much about why deconversion is so difficult. This is the first time a deconvert has explained this in such a fashion, and is attempting to tie it all together. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series.
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey I doubt it. By the way, your page is Vegeta giving the middle finger and calling someone a fag in your "About Me" section. Sounds to me you need to either do a little more research on what a Christian really is, or practice what you preach. All that aside, why believe in something and not test it? Also, you must test both sides of the fence as I have. Truth will hold up under scrutiny, and what I've found to be truth is fossils, biology, physics, astronomy, etc.
@abraxxas7 The background is a joke, like I really flip everyone off the first time I see them. And I can sin and be upset just like everyone else. Being Christian isn't being perfect, never said that. Nothing in fossils biology physics or astronomy can disprove that God exists.
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey Sure, but the Bible is supposed to be the infallible word of God, which fossils, biology, physics, and astronomy can disprove. If the Bible is fallible, it isn't the word of God.
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey They can't? Mmkay, I'll just invite you read/watch anything on how the universe or earth was formed, or that most of the elements in your body were created at the nuclear center of a star that went supernova, or how the amino acids/proteins essential for life can be recreated in a lab, or about cosmic microwave background, or how genes work, or the most famous equation on how pure energy can be transformed into matter and back again
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey Nothing I said was aimed at disproving the existence of god. It was aimed, however, at pointing you in the right direction for learning what really is going on.
@abraxxas7 I know what is 'really going on' But previously you said that it can disprove the Bible, which it can't. Man's theories (educated guesses and hypotheses) on how the universe was created does not disprove the story of creation in the Bible.
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey I suggest you look up the definition of 'scientific theory'. A theory is pretty much as high as anything can get in science. Remember that theories do not become facts or laws, they are detailed explanatory frameworks that include and encompass them. They are most certainly NOT guesses.
And unfortunately, modern geology, cosmology and paleobiology don't exactly line up with the whole seven-day creation myth, and do disprove it... thoroughly.
@FactThis Theories are hypotheses and educated guesses, they have not been proven and are based on observation and research, laws are proven, theories are not. As I said in a different comment on this vid I believe, the Bible tells the story of creation in a way that mankind could understand and emulate it. The more primitive people back then wouldn't understand the concept of millions and billions of years of developement of the earth and the universe.
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey We start with a hypothesis, a basic explanation we want to test. After research, data collection, analysis of evidence and successful peer review, we will have a theory, a descriptive and predictive model. This is as far as it goes. Facts and laws form part of a theory, which are what the theory explains. You cannot 'prove' a scientific theory by definition, but you can prove the facts they explain, such as the fact that species evolve.
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey The fact that matter attracts matter and the laws regarding this attraction form part of the theory of gravity. Then there’s the germ theory of disease, which explains the fact germs can cause disease and the biological laws that govern this process. The theory of evolution explains how and why species evolve (a fact) and the evolutionary laws that govern that process. Are you getting it now? Seriously, look up what facts, laws and theories actually are.
@FactThis You know, I like how whenever I argue with Atheists they eventually just boil down to trying to call me stupid and throwing science in my face, even though it still doesn't disprove anything I believe in. But yes I know what theories, facts, and laws are. It's getting quite off-topic, were we arguing about Religion or whether I know what scientific theories and laws are? Anyway, I'm finished here.
@abraxxas7 I have no desire to listen to more Atheists trying to tell me that God doesn't exist. I've heard far too many of them already. Nothing you can say and no scientific evidence mankind comes up with will ever disprove God and will never shake my faith.
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey Its not Atheists trying to prove god doesnt exist. Its presenting research many different people have done giving FACTS. Like I said before, I wasnt trying to disprove that god exists. Just presenting FACTS. If you won't look at FACTS, then you're just ignorant.
@abraxxas7 Funny, another Atheist just told me that there are no scientific facts or laws just theories. lol. If you weren't trying to disprove that God exists, then why were you trying to disprove the Bible and said I should learn what's "really going on". FACTS still havn't disproved my God or lead me to not believe in Him.
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey No, he did not say there are no scientific facts. Please read again and understand. Also, if you actually looked up the definition of scientific law and theory like he suggested you'd understand what he is talking about. Once again, not trying to prove god exists or doesn't, simply showing you facts/research/observations that you refuse to even attempt to look at (which is why "facts still haven't lead you to not believe" because you won't even look at them).
@abraxxas7And if you're not trying to disprove God why are you even bothering arguing with me? When my first comment was just saying that if someone's faith was so weak in God in the first place that that person was never a Christian to begin with.
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey I'm arguing with you because I believe you are wrong. Could I argue against you by agreeing with you? I point things out in your argument, expanding on those thoughts presenting why those statements/beliefs are wrong, and you reply to everything with "nope, can't disprove god" completely missing my point. From personal experience i can say your first comment is absolutely wrong. Besides, if you follow your own beliefs you should know it is only god's power to judge that
@abraxxas7 Wait so... you're arguing with me saying random things about Science and saying stuff like the Bible isn't true just because you think I'm wrong that if someone's faith is weak enough to stop worshiping God that they were never really a Christian to begin with? How does that make sense? And yes I have looked at plenty of scientific research on the subject.
@abraxxas7 So you want me to learn what's "Really going on" through science basically, from what I can tell from your comments. Even though I've read Biology Chemistry, Physics, and astrology. And yet science has nothing to do someone having inanely weak faith that they'd be 'deconverted'. So why are you talking about it?
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey Man you really don't get it. And btw its Astronomy, not Astrology. Astrology is the horoscope nonsense. And yes, science has alot to do with someone hearing scientific truths about the universe and life and understanding the bible was written by man. Let me put this in a way you would understand. Matthew 13:9 - "He who has ears, let him hear." and thats exactly what I did. Do you even understand how big the universe is? And you think we're that special?
@abraxxas7 This is still irrelevant to what I originally said: That if one was a Christian, and is no longer, they never were TRULY a Christian to begin with. What are you trying to say with the size of the universe? What does that have to do with someone being a true Christian. And I made a typo on astronomy lol.
@abraxxas7 If we're not special, why have we never discovered another planet that supports life or has life on it? AND our God is the God of the universe and if there is life on other planets somewhere in the universe God would love them the same as us.
@abraxxas7 But still your comments are completely irrelevant to the original comment. It'd be like if you made a comment "I like apples" and I responded "Bananas are yellow" in an attempt to change your belief that you like apples. It's ridiculously off topic...
@abraxxas7 And after reading all of that, it still hasn't made me think anything differently from when I began. And you seem to have less knowledge about debating, you can't even make your point clear. Something about learning about "whats really going on".
@abraxxas7 If those "FACTS" do not disprove God, then what is the point of trying to use them to "convince" religious people to give up their religion? Christians know "FACTS" and study SCIENCE and we still believe that there is a God that created us.
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey Well it is very difficult to explain in less than 500 characters to someone who refuses to educate themselves. I've messaged you my email if you'd like some understanding.
@abraxxas7 Doesn't matter how many characters you use you can't disprove the Bible or that God exists. I've had Biology, Chemistry, Physics, as for Astronomy I've looked plenty of it up, nothing there disproves anything. But you can believe what you will. I'm finished here
@abraxxas7 Hey super, you sound like a pretty educated reasonable person. Usually, they say that know a lot about science doesn't believe in God. Mainly because of this Science vs. Religion/Creationism vs. Big Bang stigma. That's why I'm kinda surprised to hear someone as knowledgeable as you say you have faith. Without debate, argument, or arrogance I wanna ask. Why do you believe in God?
@abraxxas7 Religion has nothing to do with education. Both educated and non-educated people believe in God. Your assertion that only uneducated people believe in God is completely absurd. Have you even read some of the early Christian thinkers? They have some interesting things to say. If YOU want to be educated, why don't you go read St. Augustine's Confessions? Or the City of God for that matter?
@abraxxas7 And if you're talking about the story of Creation it was written in 'days' so that man would be able to comprehend it and try to emulate it. If it said God created the earth in 20million years or whatever, and then 60million years later He rested and let nature take its toll, how would man emulate that when at best we live to be little more than 100 years old?
@abraxxas7 The real question is: Why NOT be a Christian? Why would you rather believe that there's nothing after death instead of believing in a life of eternal happiness after death and believing in a God who loves us all? Seriously, why wouldn't you want to believe that? God does so much for us and asks for so little in return, only a fool would decline His offer and chose not to believe. Much less obey Him for a short period of time and then deny Him later.
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey If you don't mind me butting in: It's not a question of whether we *want* to believe in those things, it’s a question of whether we *can*. What evidence is there for these things? How can it be demonstrated that they are real? Sure, you could believe whatever you want about anything for personal comfort, but it won’t necessarily be reality. Some people simply prefer to base their beliefs on the world as it physically stands, for reasons of logic and sensibility.
@FactThis The truth is that no science can actually disprove that God exists, so in the end it all comes down to us making the choice to believe or not which is the way God wanted it as He gave man free will to believe in Him or not.
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey Right. So it essentially comes down to choosing between physical evidence and reasoned logic, or ancient, fantastical stories written thousands of years ago by unknown authors that must be taken on 'faith', which will also be competing against the equally ridiculous yet equally well substantiated fanaticisms of other religions and cults. I know I've made my choice, and if there is a god up there, I don't think he'll blame me for it!
@FactThis Evidence and theories, we still really don't have any facts or determinations of exactly how the universe was created. But the theories we have currently don't contradict the story of creation at all. But alright, you can believe what you will, as I said before I believe God gave us free will and you can choose to believe or not.
Amazing series of videos. However, I'd like to point out something. Morality is a node in your god diagram, but it needs to be pointed out that morality can exist without god. In fact, I would argue that morality precedes religion.
@skyhaz31 Tell that to devout theists (Christians in particular, though Muslims will sometimes say the same). I'm starting to loose count on the number of times I've heard "Without God, you can't be moral".
THERE CAN BE MORALITY WITHOUT GOD... IF YOU CONSIDER DARWINISM AND EVOLUTION... OUR MIND AND SOCIAL STRUCTURE ARE IN CONSTANT USE OF MORALITY AND ETHICS...
@faro0485 No dogmas, no idealogy. The mere fact that one does not believe in a God does not promote any destructive behaviour, nor does it promote hatred towards anyone. It is only when it is mixed with other idealogies and when these indivuals come into power that we have a problem. The same could be a Christian or Muslim and we would have the same problem.
@vatiz93 Incorrect. The atheists by rejecting God as their authority replace God over their head, with the state and anyone who rules the law. The threat there at is that the same people promoting atheism, ever since the 1700s, are the same people who are pushing Admirality Law. /watch?v=V7ETO2F0KX8
Perhaps many of them would have, if ID had had a scientific, testable model to show. But they don't, so even scientists who reject evolutionary theory (about one thousandth of a percent) don't even have to consider ID.
@arturolcornejo ~Crackles her knuckles~ Well, that's just plain wrong! Psychologically, our morality comes from our evolutionary history, environment, parents, genes etc. Does that make morality subjective? Yup. Does that mean morality means nothing? Not at all; morality comes from who you are. I believe everyone is special, so everyone's morality is special...but not deserving of equal respect >}
@Darthmas2242 why not? why your morality would be more important than other`s people morality? I do not find a correlations between what said? you believe everyone is special, so every´s morality is special... but not deserves your respect? so one culture is more respectable than the other? just by their morality? you should refrain your concept again...
« why your morality would be more important than other`s people morality? »
Because it's yours. You have no other way of evaluating other people's actions than per your own standards. For example: you and I probably disagree on the morality of any number of actions. Rather than accepting my moral judgement for these actions, you feel that my moral judgement is wrong, and would like to convince me of that, because you value your moral judgements over mine.
@XGralgrathor Well as you said, that would be the reason for judges at the courts and laws that preserve society, but again this concept of morality is tremendously ambiguous, some may believe that their morality
is better that others but in any case you are considering any kind of contextualization! I eat beef "Tacos" and sometimes I eat burritos of lobster at Baja! Well, a conservative Jew will dislike my burrito Lobster and I will dislike Dog´meet in my tacos (Asian´s countries)....
« that would be the reason for judges at the courts »
What would? For what?
« this concept of morality is tremendously ambiguous »
What concept, and why?
« some may believe that their morality is better that others »
I think most of us believe that. Although I am perfectly willing to listen to other people explaining why their moral judgement should be preferred over another.
@XGralgrathor that´s good! your willing to listen other´s people explanations you will have tolerance and that´s good I believe in many cases you change your morality based on other´s people examples... and morality is the concept we are talking go get a book at the library for you to revised how many theories are and how they disagree to each other, taking about the concept of MORALITY is huge! and by no means I would explain it better than a book also characters do not allow me to continue...
« go get a book at the library for you to revised how many theories are and how they disagree to each other »
What kind of book? Theories about what?
« taking about the concept of MORALITY is huge! »
Yeah, I know. But I like to keep things simple. I trust my feelings and instincts when it comes to evaluating the morality of an action. And I accept that sometimes these feelings will conflict with how other people feel about things. That's just life.
@XGralgrathor go get an Ethics book, and you will find your self and your moral judgement more acquainted with some theories and againts others... Plato and Aristotle started this mess... LOL

No one ever had an answer for me that wasn't completely jaded.
spontaneityis 3 weeks ago in playlist Why I am no longer a Christian 14
@spontaneityis God refuses to make choices for you. Your choices, however, are limited in their scope - God's are not. One big stumbling block for TRUE seekers is that we tend to view God's authority in terms of our own. Remember, we have an authority over only our own lives; He has authority over all life. Your authority affects you; His authority affects all. You and I choose our paths: His plan determines the outcome. As God, He must have an authority you or I could never have.
mattersmail 3 weeks ago
@spontaneityis Logic cannot answer why the universe was created, or why there is so much varied and beautiful life on this planet. I have still to see a chinese or japanese looking monkey (Darwin), and where is the scientific proof that we were not created? Some of us are born free, others not so. Men kill men, the almighty leaves it to us to make a choice. 10 little guides to be a good person, the almighty did not want to be worshipped. You may have lost faith-he believes in us
mumblejunkie 2 weeks ago in playlist Why I am no longer a Christian
@mumblejunkie Didn't want to be worshiped? The first 3 of those "10 little guides" are demanding exactly that, and there ARE species of monkey native to China. As for why so much variation of life, that actually is an argument against God. If God created this world for us, why create parasites on fish that never normally come anywhere near a fisherman's nets? Such massive diversity is evidence of random mutation and natural selection, not some designer who designed 50,000 species of beetle
bigglyguy 1 week ago in playlist Why I am no longer a Christian
@spontaneityis I also have trouble with this concept. For example, if somebody had to betray Jesus because of some OT prophecy, then why was Judas at fault for choosing to do so? Absolutely the only explanation I can think of is that if Judas hadn't chosen to do so, the prophecy would not have been made. Let's say there's a God who can observe the totality of time. Then our choices would be foreknown, and thus predestined: there is no other possibility for us except to follow our choices (?)
1nstrument 2 weeks ago in playlist Why I am no longer a Christian
@spontaneityis

Solfay243 1 month ago
@blazearmoru I know my education isn't exactly extensive, but as you used the example of not replicating a chance experience as creating you own miracle, I have had a similar experience of the opposite. I have also been "healed" through prayer, beyond a point of doubt in my own respect, to further prove God's existence to me.
Solfay243 1 month ago
@Solfay243 I'm glad you were healed but depending on what the problem was, don't forget to also attribute some of the healing to doctors, nurses, psychology (Placebo and others). Sorry, it's just that I get a little irritated when I hear people attribution their recovery to god while ignoring the decades of research and decades of medical training along with hours of working on a patient by doctors and surgeons, though that's probably not what you're claiming.
blazearmoru 1 month ago

Solfay243 1 month ago
@blazearmoru I feel it is extremely ignorant to proclaim something as a "miracle" simply on the basis of not knowing how it happened and believe me when I say I don't proclaim something a miracle often if at all. A miracle in my view is something that, once all other possibilities are exhausted, is the only viable explanation.
Solfay243 1 month ago
@Solfay243 Sorry, I want to clear something up since I'm still confused about something. By miracle, you mean something that is outside the realms of the natural laws and such? Something that breaks the laws of physics, or math or anything of that sort? I'm just curious about your statement of "all other possibilities" so I was wondering just how much you know about the laws of the universe and the events that happen in it to be able to claim such a thing. By the way, happy holidays.
blazearmoru 1 month ago
@blazearmoru I don't blame you for asking as I would definitely would if I was in your own situation. To give you an idea of my education I am currently a bioengineering student at UC Riverside. I am a product of the Southern California public education system and have gone through extra schooling on the side at various community colleges and such.
Solfay243 1 month ago
hi! i'm a christian watching this series out of curiosity and just wanted to be a stickler about something. i agree with your map of sub-beliefs, but i also wanted to point out that you don't take miracles into account. what if a person has a personal miracle occur to them that can be attributed to no one else but God? how do you think that works into the equation?
Solfay243 1 month ago in playlist Why I am no longer a Christian
@Solfay243 The thing with attributing "miracles" to a god is the fact that a miracle is something that happens that surpasses our human understanding (at the moment), so to explain it, they just say a god did it. You also cannot use personal experiences to prove a god, because it would only have been some kind of proof to you and not to someone else.
Mosan13 1 month ago
@Solfay243 Would a miracle include something like chance? If it does then here's a simple way to explain it (for chance). Take out a dice then roll the dice 10 times, writing down the number each time. Then re-roll the dice in sequences of 10 times and try to match the earlier numbers (no cheating ^_~). Give up? it's impossible right? The chances are 1 in 60million! Did YOU just achieve a miracle? Now think about just 1 day at a casino with all the games in that order, what then?
blazearmoru 1 month ago in playlist Why I am no longer a Christian
@Solfay243 Otherwise, Mosan13 should of pretty much covered the rest. If you define miracle by something that you cannot understand how it could possibly of happened (so you resort by attributing it to your deity of choice), then not to be rude but isn't saying "I don't know so god did it." just a little bit awkward from an objective point of view? or maybe "we don't know so god did it". Then there's the whole, show me proof part. If it's a miracle and cannot be done by human efforts: no proof?
blazearmoru 1 month ago in playlist Why I am no longer a Christian
@blazearmoru I totally respect your arguments and even agree to a degree. As Mosan13 did say, using personal experiences to prove a god are useless with others b/c they didn't experience that, but that would come in line directly with my thoughts on a personal God. I also don't disagree with your ideas of rolling dice.

@thirstforwind On the contrary, these videos demonstrate that the narrator has a very deep and intimate understand, not only of Christianity, but of the psychology of religion in general.
GladYouAsked 2 months ago
@GladYouAsked These "facts" you speak of are more like rumors and myths. Theologians agree that none of the so-called "apostles" were around by the time that Jesus died, and all of their accounts of his life and works were written LONG after he was dead. Hell, all of their accounts are contradictory, too!
You couldn't trust any of these guys to be credible eye witnesses in a worldly, petty trial. Yet you would take their word when it comes to choosing a so-called "god"?...

LordKombox 2 months ago
@LordKombox You must of had a bad experience, it shouldn't be like that. Being a christian should just mean to do what's right, to have boundaries, yes, but there's nothing funny about it. At least there shouldn't be! When you give your life to Christ, it just means that Jesus will look after you, in times of need. If we do everything ourselves, things go wrong, we get depressed, feel angry, feel empty and helpless. Having Jesus in my life is the most fulfilling to me!
ItsSoMe2011 2 months ago
@ItsSoMe2011 I had no bad experience, Atheism made me view the world with such a brighter light.

You change as a person, and become more loving, caring, when you seek Him. ;')
ItsSoMe2011 2 months ago
@ItsSoMe2011 I don't see religion as light and I don't see the world as dark. The world is fantastic but religion teaches you to be satisfied with only seeing part of it. I appreciate your intentions, but nothing will make me believe. I cannot bring myself to believe something so unscientific and illogical.
LordKombox 2 months ago
@LordKombox Well, I can also see how religion is not good, but following the good words from the Bible can only be good! Like for example 'love your enemies', or 'turn the other cheek'. These things are words spoken by Jesus, and are not dark. There are certain religions I not agree with, because they go against the rules of 'the right thing to do'. But, Christianity doesn't in many ways. It's just how we interpret the Bible. Nothing is dark of what Jesus says for us to be like ;')
ItsSoMe2011 2 months ago
@ItsSoMe2011 Wrong, read the bible from cover to cover and you'll find many terrible things. The bible is a force for evil in the world and history has shown it through all its wars and the hatred it has caused. Religion is a virus you have to be brainwashed into believing. Name one moral act committed by a person of faith that cannot be done by an un-believer. Now think of the horrible things people will do just because of their faith. The bible is not a force for good.
LordKombox 2 months ago
@LordKombox No, it's not what God says. Many of the times, it describes what men believed, and what men did, before God told them the right thing to do. Yes, there has been punishments God has done for men who have murdered, and other terrible things in the Bible, but punishment is not evil. Many times, God has shown mercy for His people, because they asked for forgiveness. If we don't ask, we don't get. Because, God wants to see we are humble, and have faith! That's all.
ItsSoMe2011 2 months ago
@ItsSoMe2011 Stay on topic. You were asked to provide one instance of a "good thing" a person of faith does that can not be done by a person of faith.

What I don't like about christendom is how it is so stagnant. The bible is considered the final truth right? Well, then I believe it was deciphered wrong on several accounts, besides the populist sexist ideas from the time it was made.
For example I disagree with his statement about "No God = No morality". God seems more to hold a trinity like the government, police and judge in upholding those moral laws imo.
Christendom can change for the better! Mediocrity is actually a virtue where I'm from.

How so? and even if this is the case democracy would be just a political ideology that will die just as other have... if this is the case then the understanding you glean from the bible is clearly just your interpretation.

Close?
ThaDane 4 months ago

RhondaH 5 months ago
@RhondaH You are being awfully harsh. Religion isn't THAT bad.
If people took the core values of their religions seriously then I would gladly sign up for most of them.
What I am trying to say is, it's as black and white as you say and your last statement is quite offensive and counterproductive. I won't make the mistake of boxing people into a "religious box" and an "atheist box".
Your statement actually reinforces my belief mentioned above.
ThaDane 5 months ago
@ThaDane The problem is that the 'core' is debatable, and is debated amongst religious folk. In all religions you have sects that can range from the esoteric to the literalistic. Of course there are people and sects that sit on different parts of the spectrum. Also laws, war, and morality massively impact human life around the globe. From the young girl recently beaten to death inspired by christianity, to suicide bombers inspired by Islam, etc. From sharia law, to pro-life christians.

@ThaDane Too bad. Core beliefs are the ones that are most horrendous.

@abraxxas7 I know alot more than you apparently.
TheSuperGoldenMonkey 6 months ago
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey I doubt it. By the way, your page is Vegeta giving the middle finger and calling someone a fag in your "About Me" section. Sounds to me you need to either do a little more research on what a Christian really is, or practice what you preach. All that aside, why believe in something and not test it? Also, you must test both sides of the fence as I have. Truth will hold up under scrutiny, and what I've found to be truth is fossils, biology, physics, astronomy, etc.
abraxxas7 6 months ago
@abraxxas7 The background is a joke, like I really flip everyone off the first time I see them. And I can sin and be upset just like everyone else. Being Christian isn't being perfect, never said that. Nothing in fossils biology physics or astronomy can disprove that God exists.
TheSuperGoldenMonkey 6 months ago
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey Sure, but the Bible is supposed to be the infallible word of God, which fossils, biology, physics, and astronomy can disprove. If the Bible is fallible, it isn't the word of God.
abraxxas7 6 months ago
@abraxxas7 Fossils biology physics and astronomy can't disprove the Bible.
TheSuperGoldenMonkey 6 months ago
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey They can't? Mmkay, I'll just invite you read/watch anything on how the universe or earth was formed, or that most of the elements in your body were created at the nuclear center of a star that went supernova, or how the amino acids/proteins essential for life can be recreated in a lab, or about cosmic microwave background, or how genes work, or the most famous equation on how pure energy can be transformed into matter and back again
abraxxas7 6 months ago
@abraxxas7 Nothing you said can disprove the existence of God... As I already said.
TheSuperGoldenMonkey 6 months ago
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey Nothing I said was aimed at disproving the existence of god. It was aimed, however, at pointing you in the right direction for learning what really is going on.
abraxxas7 6 months ago
@abraxxas7 I know what is 'really going on' But previously you said that it can disprove the Bible, which it can't. Man's theories (educated guesses and hypotheses) on how the universe was created does not disprove the story of creation in the Bible.
TheSuperGoldenMonkey 6 months ago
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey I suggest you look up the definition of 'scientific theory'. A theory is pretty much as high as anything can get in science. Remember that theories do not become facts or laws, they are detailed explanatory frameworks that include and encompass them. They are most certainly NOT guesses.
And unfortunately, modern geology, cosmology and paleobiology don't exactly line up with the whole seven-day creation myth, and do disprove it... thoroughly.
FactThis 6 months ago
@FactThis Theories are hypotheses and educated guesses, they have not been proven and are based on observation and research, laws are proven, theories are not. As I said in a different comment on this vid I believe, the Bible tells the story of creation in a way that mankind could understand and emulate it. The more primitive people back then wouldn't understand the concept of millions and billions of years of developement of the earth and the universe.
TheSuperGoldenMonkey 6 months ago
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey We start with a hypothesis, a basic explanation we want to test. After research, data collection, analysis of evidence and successful peer review, we will have a theory, a descriptive and predictive model. This is as far as it goes. Facts and laws form part of a theory, which are what the theory explains. You cannot 'prove' a scientific theory by definition, but you can prove the facts they explain, such as the fact that species evolve.
Did you know gravity is a theory?
FactThis 6 months ago
@FactThis 'Newton's "law" of universal gravitation'.
TheSuperGoldenMonkey 6 months ago
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey The fact that matter attracts matter and the laws regarding this attraction form part of the theory of gravity. Then there’s the germ theory of disease, which explains the fact germs can cause disease and the biological laws that govern this process. The theory of evolution explains how and why species evolve (a fact) and the evolutionary laws that govern that process. Are you getting it now? Seriously, look up what facts, laws and theories actually are.
FactThis 6 months ago
@FactThis You know, I like how whenever I argue with Atheists they eventually just boil down to trying to call me stupid and throwing science in my face, even though it still doesn't disprove anything I believe in. But yes I know what theories, facts, and laws are. It's getting quite off-topic, were we arguing about Religion or whether I know what scientific theories and laws are? Anyway, I'm finished here.

TheSuperGoldenMonkey 6 months ago
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey Its not Atheists trying to prove god doesnt exist. Its presenting research many different people have done giving FACTS. Like I said before, I wasnt trying to disprove that god exists. Just presenting FACTS. If you won't look at FACTS, then you're just ignorant.
abraxxas7 6 months ago
@abraxxas7 Funny, another Atheist just told me that there are no scientific facts or laws just theories. lol. If you weren't trying to disprove that God exists, then why were you trying to disprove the Bible and said I should learn what's "really going on". FACTS still havn't disproved my God or lead me to not believe in Him.
TheSuperGoldenMonkey 6 months ago
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey No, he did not say there are no scientific facts. Please read again and understand. Also, if you actually looked up the definition of scientific law and theory like he suggested you'd understand what he is talking about. Once again, not trying to prove god exists or doesn't, simply showing you facts/research/observations that you refuse to even attempt to look at (which is why "facts still haven't lead you to not believe" because you won't even look at them).
abraxxas7 6 months ago
@abraxxas7And if you're not trying to disprove God why are you even bothering arguing with me? When my first comment was just saying that if someone's faith was so weak in God in the first place that that person was never a Christian to begin with.
TheSuperGoldenMonkey 6 months ago
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey I'm arguing with you because I believe you are wrong. Could I argue against you by agreeing with you? I point things out in your argument, expanding on those thoughts presenting why those statements/beliefs are wrong, and you reply to everything with "nope, can't disprove god" completely missing my point. From personal experience i can say your first comment is absolutely wrong. Besides, if you follow your own beliefs you should know it is only god's power to judge that
abraxxas7 6 months ago
@abraxxas7 Wait so... you're arguing with me saying random things about Science and saying stuff like the Bible isn't true just because you think I'm wrong that if someone's faith is weak enough to stop worshiping God that they were never really a Christian to begin with? How does that make sense? And yes I have looked at plenty of scientific research on the subject.
TheSuperGoldenMonkey 6 months ago
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey /facepalm. Man you either have no clue how to have a debate or are really really good at trolling me.
abraxxas7 6 months ago
@abraxxas7 So you want me to learn what's "Really going on" through science basically, from what I can tell from your comments. Even though I've read Biology Chemistry, Physics, and astrology. And yet science has nothing to do someone having inanely weak faith that they'd be 'deconverted'. So why are you talking about it?
TheSuperGoldenMonkey 6 months ago
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey Man you really don't get it. And btw its Astronomy, not Astrology. Astrology is the horoscope nonsense. And yes, science has alot to do with someone hearing scientific truths about the universe and life and understanding the bible was written by man. Let me put this in a way you would understand. Matthew 13:9 - "He who has ears, let him hear." and thats exactly what I did. Do you even understand how big the universe is? And you think we're that special?
abraxxas7 6 months ago
@abraxxas7 This is still irrelevant to what I originally said: That if one was a Christian, and is no longer, they never were TRULY a Christian to begin with. What are you trying to say with the size of the universe? What does that have to do with someone being a true Christian. And I made a typo on astronomy lol.
TheSuperGoldenMonkey 6 months ago
@abraxxas7 If we're not special, why have we never discovered another planet that supports life or has life on it? AND our God is the God of the universe and if there is life on other planets somewhere in the universe God would love them the same as us.
TheSuperGoldenMonkey 6 months ago
@abraxxas7 But still your comments are completely irrelevant to the original comment. It'd be like if you made a comment "I like apples" and I responded "Bananas are yellow" in an attempt to change your belief that you like apples. It's ridiculously off topic...
TheSuperGoldenMonkey 6 months ago
@abraxxas7 And after reading all of that, it still hasn't made me think anything differently from when I began. And you seem to have less knowledge about debating, you can't even make your point clear. Something about learning about "whats really going on".
TheSuperGoldenMonkey 6 months ago
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey You can lead a student to knowledge, but you can't make him think.
abraxxas7 6 months ago
@abraxxas7 If those "FACTS" do not disprove God, then what is the point of trying to use them to "convince" religious people to give up their religion? Christians know "FACTS" and study SCIENCE and we still believe that there is a God that created us.

@TheSuperGoldenMonkey Well it is very difficult to explain in less than 500 characters to someone who refuses to educate themselves. I've messaged you my email if you'd like some understanding.
abraxxas7 6 months ago
@abraxxas7 Doesn't matter how many characters you use you can't disprove the Bible or that God exists. I've had Biology, Chemistry, Physics, as for Astronomy I've looked plenty of it up, nothing there disproves anything. But you can believe what you will. I'm finished here
TheSuperGoldenMonkey 6 months ago
@abraxxas7 Hey super, you sound like a pretty educated reasonable person. Usually, they say that know a lot about science doesn't believe in God. Mainly because of this Science vs. Religion/Creationism vs. Big Bang stigma. That's why I'm kinda surprised to hear someone as knowledgeable as you say you have faith. Without debate, argument, or arrogance I wanna ask. Why do you believe in God?
RedCrescentDemon 6 months ago
@abraxxas7 Religion has nothing to do with education. Both educated and non-educated people believe in God. Your assertion that only uneducated people believe in God is completely absurd. Have you even read some of the early Christian thinkers? They have some interesting things to say. If YOU want to be educated, why don't you go read St. Augustine's Confessions? Or the City of God for that matter?
TheFinishSign 5 months ago
@abraxxas7 And if you're talking about the story of Creation it was written in 'days' so that man would be able to comprehend it and try to emulate it. If it said God created the earth in 20million years or whatever, and then 60million years later He rested and let nature take its toll, how would man emulate that when at best we live to be little more than 100 years old?
TheSuperGoldenMonkey 6 months ago
@abraxxas7 The real question is: Why NOT be a Christian? Why would you rather believe that there's nothing after death instead of believing in a life of eternal happiness after death and believing in a God who loves us all? Seriously, why wouldn't you want to believe that? God does so much for us and asks for so little in return, only a fool would decline His offer and chose not to believe. Much less obey Him for a short period of time and then deny Him later.
TheSuperGoldenMonkey 6 months ago
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey If you don't mind me butting in: It's not a question of whether we *want* to believe in those things, it’s a question of whether we *can*. What evidence is there for these things? How can it be demonstrated that they are real? Sure, you could believe whatever you want about anything for personal comfort, but it won’t necessarily be reality. Some people simply prefer to base their beliefs on the world as it physically stands, for reasons of logic and sensibility.
FactThis 6 months ago
@FactThis The truth is that no science can actually disprove that God exists, so in the end it all comes down to us making the choice to believe or not which is the way God wanted it as He gave man free will to believe in Him or not.
TheSuperGoldenMonkey 6 months ago
@TheSuperGoldenMonkey Right. So it essentially comes down to choosing between physical evidence and reasoned logic, or ancient, fantastical stories written thousands of years ago by unknown authors that must be taken on 'faith', which will also be competing against the equally ridiculous yet equally well substantiated fanaticisms of other religions and cults. I know I've made my choice, and if there is a god up there, I don't think he'll blame me for it!
FactThis 6 months ago
@FactThis Evidence and theories, we still really don't have any facts or determinations of exactly how the universe was created. But the theories we have currently don't contradict the story of creation at all. But alright, you can believe what you will, as I said before I believe God gave us free will and you can choose to believe or not.

arturolcornejo 3 months ago
« why your morality would be more important than other`s people morality? »
Because it's yours. You have no other way of evaluating other people's actions than per your own standards. For example: you and I probably disagree on the morality of any number of actions. Rather than accepting my moral judgement for these actions, you feel that my moral judgement is wrong, and would like to convince me of that, because you value your moral judgements over mine.
XGralgrathor 3 months ago
@XGralgrathor Well as you said, that would be the reason for judges at the courts and laws that preserve society, but again this concept of morality is tremendously ambiguous, some may believe that their morality
is better that others but in any case you are considering any kind of contextualization! I eat beef "Tacos" and sometimes I eat burritos of lobster at Baja! Well, a conservative Jew will dislike my burrito Lobster and I will dislike Dog´meet in my tacos (Asian´s countries)....
