One example is 'faith healers' who go around telling people with aids that they've been healed when they are in fact, still infected. One example is 'faith healers' who go around telling people with aids that they've been healed when they are in fact, still infected. The bible is a book man wrote under the direction of the developing theology of christianity.
Jesus is not mentioned outside of the biblical accounts, which is why some scholars are now questioning if he even exsisted or was a literary creation, maybe a composite figure of several messiahs.
As far as the bible was concerned he failed as messiah as many did.
The jews are still waiting and always will be.

There is historical documents outside of the Bible that were written about Jesus, but the mere fact that they were written hundreds of years after Jesus' death makes their legitimacy questionable. I personally think he may have existed but the things he did (magic tricks) were greatly exaggerated or just plain factitious. Either way, I don't really care.

Yes the extra docs are not first hand accounts, as well as very dubious. So as hearsay are dismissed.
However for a mass following and all that is claimed we would expect a large body of work mentioning Jesus there is none. With new research results there is a case that he never exsisted at all that is becoming well substantiated, prehaps a litereary creation and composite of several messiahs.

@1n354a 1. Plenty. Read the Gospel of Thomas for starters. We have letters from people who knew the FAMILY OF JESUS including his brother James. 2. Jesus's life was meant to be kept hidden. The reason for this is because Jesus had to grow up as a child knowing everything and being perfect. Imagine a child with the power of God. That who Jesus was. He scared his teachers and killed his friends with words when He got angry. Jesus literally had to learn how to become his future self alone...

Paul wrote only a fraction of the New Testament letters that tradition ascribes to him, and even some of those were subsequently altered by others to reflect later developments in church theology.

There are no records from the Jews or Romans about the execution of a Jesus. Well put, though I'm a little disappointed by the cultural relativism at the end. You can easily be an atheist and a utlitarian or deontologist. Cultural relativism has very few supporters in moral philosophy, and for good reason.

I do understand the question really. If you didn't read the Bible, how would you know that the correct response to your daughter being rapes is to demand payment from the rapist and make him marry your daughter.
