  • Fail they used Fedora should of used mint

Where is my codecs whats a restricted extra, dam java my wiffi ect = fail

Fastest way to turn off new users, power users can reprogram the OS.

Mint is the most complete OS out of the box , its windows like and doesn't have those problems.

    right out of the box.

  • @ve3tru Mint doesn't work on ARM processors.

  • Thumbs up if you're watching this in 2012!...

  • "dawn of the ancients" fail

The Raspberry Pi is really nice, i wish there was a similar x86 system.

  • who care about emacs ????

  • you mean defense of the ancients or dota, not dawn of the ancients

  • My money says they'll be more than $25.

  • @BludBaut its £2000 on ebay :/

  • @BludBaut Just went into production. Model A is $25, Model B $35 (you get ethernet port and double the ram).

  • @jag9998 Amazing. 20 years ago, the RAM alone would have cost $5000

  • @BludBaut

Nope, they are $25 for the A version, $35 for the B.

  • @cobrachoppergirl Vaporware? We are days away from you eating your words!

  • @cobrachoppergirl They're already producing it. The 25$ version is assembled in UK

  • can be powered by wall socket or a few AA batteries. they are currently looking into ethernet port power as well.

  • @psyphormer Thanks a lot!

  • @thisweekinlinux any news from Google on the advertising front? I feel bad for you

  • @LewisHNL Nope. it's over.

  • @thisweekinlinux I mean have they responded to your explanation that you don't see why you are blocked, I am have they explained why they did it or shown any willingness to help change it? I don't see how Google can just screw you and itself over like this without showing any attention!

  • @LewisHNL Nope, not a word. :/ They apparently do this to people all the time. I've heard from at least 6-8 other YouTubers that were partners, and lost their adsense and partnership with no reason given.

  • @thisweekinlinux If you really want, you could use my channel which somehow has Partnership with one video which has very few views uploaded and only a few subscribers, I would upload the videos for you and pay you the revenue? That sound good?

  • @LewisHNL I appreciate the offer, but no thank you. I've had a few people offer to let me use their adsense, but I'd rather just avoid that at this point.

  • @thisweekinlinux Ok :) Gd luck getting a reply and I think I might just watch your videos on your website so that you can earn :)

  • Asian joke in the thumbnail.

  • What about Novacut? Haven't seen anything about it since they got the money they needed

  • It's Defense of the Ancients. Nice video BTW.

  • I heard there is besides Debian/kFreeBSD and Debian/Hurd some Debian/Emacs version out there.

  • Logitech Revue SUCKS. It crashes, restarts randomly, and random apps stop working and require a factory reset to get working again.

  • defense of the ancients not dawn of the Ancients.

  • if you place the link first in the description I can just click it from the youtube homepage, no need to load an extra tab and mute the video

  • @FailAtGame Fixed. :)

  • What happened to the mess with the partnership being stopped and the threat of closing the account?

and I believe I heard somewhere that the Raspberry Pi could use PoE and be powered through your LAN. I don't know if it's in the final version but there was talk about it some time ago.

It could be used as a small very power friendly NAS style file server with a USB hard drive attached. Would be absolutely awesome if it had USB 3.

  • @SquirrelFromGradLife The partnership is gone, my adsense account was disabled entirely, and I can never have it back. So yeah. There's that.

  • Hey TWIL, just curious - are you a redditor? I see a lot of the things you talk about posted in r/linux there so I was just wondering if that's where you get some of your content.

  • @Cuzit69 halfway, not entirely. I used to pull some content from there, but I haven't in probably a year or more.

  • DAWN of the Ancients?

    I LOL'd

  • The logitech revue is pretty awesome. The remote isnt _that_ large, and its pretty awesome to be able to google unknown actresses like you said. lol thats something that happens quiet often in my house.

  • That $25 computer is pure geekery. I'm not getting a Revue. I don't really see the need. I got my DroidX and Gtab 10.1. That's enough for me. My tv doesn't have a hdmi port anyway. :(

  • Hah ha Richard Stallamn can picket himself now :)

  • glad to see you're back!

  • Interesting news, especially about those mini computers.

*Sigh* Too bad I won't get my hands on one of these :<

But still great news and now, i'm going to watch it again on your homepage :]

  • emacs not being gpl was pretty lulzical.

  • I'm gonna wait for the 512MB/1GB version of the raspberry pi.

  • The Warcraft 3 mod was "Defense of the Ancients," not 'Dawn.' :)

  • roku ftw and hon sucks lol is better

  • Adobe Edge is the future of Adobe Flash...... when the Audio/Video-format war in HTML5 is over :)

  • Great stuff, funny about that Emacs story.

  • you should talk about the "new" joli os thing that'll be in beta soon. (jolicloud)

  • Just to say, the developer for the Raspberry Pi was on BBC Click a few weeks ago (News style tech thing in the UK) and he detailed it a bit more. It runs Ubuntu minimal with LXDE and has utilities to help introduce kids to programming, since that isn't really taught here in the UK anymore

  • It's not non-free components, they simply forgot to include a couple of files. They aren't removing anything, they're just adding those files back.

  • @Toksyuryel ah, my mistake. thanks.

  • I think you haven't mentioned the arrival of the Meego Nokia N9 in your news yet (which will not be available in the US).

  • @KladionicaCity Hm, i thought I mentioned it a while back. Perhaps not. Things have been up in the air here for a long time.

  • I really want to build a cluster from those Raspberry Pi's. Seams like a somewhat effective way of doing it, cheaply.

  • EMACS

  • I'd rather run LoL thru wine then get HoN

  • HoN is very good !

  • Seriously. Watch the vids on his site. As long as the salad doesn't have tomatoes it's good.

  • EMACS? Richard Stallmen's baby? Wow.

  • Interesting.

  • I like the idea of the Raspberry pi, I might buy a couple myself. I'd love it even more if you can use a couple of them at the same time and use them as clusters, Imagine a quad core Arm computer with 1 gb of memory. That's would be cool. Maybe it could finally run Minecraft :D

  • @jimmybrite I could see them doing very well as little 1-off servers. Like I was saying, you could have the IRC Client/SSH server running on one, remote desktop with web browser on one, etc. Not terribly powerful, but useful.

  • @thisweekinlinux That would be nice, I can do the same with my WRT-54 GL

  • @jimmybrite I actually had ssh, screen, and irssi (I think) running on my dd-wrt router at one point, but I think I lost it all on reboot a long time ago. :P

  • You should include the Humble Indie Bundle 3 in your next video. You are the reason I found out about the HIB in the first place.

  • @rizlmilk I talked about it in last week's news vid. :)

  • Check this website out

    humblebundle(DOT)com

    do a video about it!

  • @lenoat702 I talked about it in last week's news vid. :)

  • Dawn of the Ancients? O_o...

Great episode and all, but somehow you felt a bit different.

  • "Dawn of the Ancients"?

It's "Defense of the Ancients" lol

  • cool. i like that more and more is coming and or going to Linux

i bet MS hates all of us for all of are Linux staff.

    good news. like it all.

  • How to support TWIL on YouTube:

    Start YouTube player.

    Open TWIL website link.

Play video on TWIL website muted.

    Continue watching on YouTube

    :)

  • lol "dawn of the ancients"

  • :'( Hopefully emacs conforms with the GPL in the next version.

  • Nothing that worries me. Emacs is really bad, there are a lot of good editors that have a better quality and are much easier to use and with a better interface, you don't have to go too far, just gedit is better than Emacs and geany for big files.

  • @sbobillierc I am a programming student, and Emacs was once suggested to me. I installed it, played with it for 15 seconds, and immediately took it back off because frankly it frightened and confused me. Nothing about it looks even remotely user-friendly to me.

I agree with you, I personally find Gedit the way to go whenever I'm working on my code. Sometimes I might use nano in a terminal, but for me nothing beats a simple, clean GUI.

  • I'm viewer 123!

  • hey man, how have you and your family been?

  • @psychoclown420 we're doing pretty well, thanks for asking. :) How have you been?

  • @thisweekinlinux pretty good.. school starts back this friday :P

  • Taco salad. Delicious.

  • Raspberry Pi is pretty old, why has it picked up so much lately?

  • lol
