Had my fire since xmas. An let me tell u... This thing rocks. Wasn't my ideal tab at first, but it was a gift and a great one none the less. Rooted and flashed cm7 to it with an OCing kernal OCed to 1.3 ghz an still getting around 8 to 10 hours on this bad boy. Also installed gapps and googles app market. Simply put... I fuckin love it!! Rooted mine a couple days ago, and it friggin rocks! Im still getting about 6-8 hours battery life on heavy usage with WiFi on 95% of the time. So much so far installed and running on this thing, I won't even list lol

I might consider rooting, but I think you could have found a better strong point than youtube. While Amazon does not offer an app, saving the link to your bookshelf works just as well. Also I prefer the mobile site over the app.

@CitySkin09 You can save links from the browser to your "favorites" shelf below the carousel just like you would a book, app, or movie. One of the highlights of this video was being able to have the Youtube android app. I was just saying that I have the link to the youtube mobile site the Fire browser loads automatically if you type in youtube.com. I think the mobile website works just as fine as the app and looks better.

But when you look on the bright side of things it doesn't have one of those shitty resistive touch screens and the interface is actually a pleasure. I also believe in my opinion that it doesn't feel cheap for it's price range.

I disagree with your comment about the appstore not being as good as apples. It may not have as much, yet, but it doesn't have the restrictions that Apple's app store has on what people can upload. This can be bad, but a lot of the free apps on Android Market are better than the free crap on Apple's. Just my $0.02. I've owned by types of devices and Android is just hand's down better for people who like to tinker.

You can get most of this stuff without having to root

I got go launcher, youtube, facebook, dropbox, winamp,etc

Just use file expert and sideload the apk files - install them

there are plenty of sites to dl apk files

Just a bit of info for any one thinking of rooting the Kindle fire. If you plan on streaming videos with Amazon Prime don't root it just yet.

I rooted my friends and it wasn't able to stream. I called Amazon Support thinking it was a problem with the account and they said the error message I was getting was do to rooting, of course I played dumb. I unrooted the device and video streaming is working again. You've been warned!
