You CAN auto focus while filming on the T2i...just make sure the lens is switched to AF then hold the shutter down halfway. It looks rubbish while recording but is useful to setup your focus quick before filming.

Thx for the vid. Just an fyi same focusing + shutter speeds + ISO's is available for Nikon since the D100 dayz. Nowadays am shooting still & video w/my Atrix tho. Again thx Ima subscribing - good stuff.

Wait just a cocking pitting minute. DSLR's aren't film cameras. As a matter of fact, the word Digital is in the name. Last time I checked, a DSLR uses an image sensor to record video, I cannot image shoving some Kodak film in their to record movies. You are only filming when you are using a film camera. Other than that, you are recording.

On another note the 7d can use Af during video but becuase of the facts it's not a video camera it looks over exposed, so it's not built for video, something we are talking about

@rockindglobe well you can. it definitely would not hurt the camera or the lense. but i think if you zoom while you're in auto or manual focus setting, you do change the focus point a little but it is not that noticeable.

you can autofocus while shooting go to first menu set to AF live mode then scroll down to AF with shutter button that being said i recomend staying manual in case your stedicaming or otherwise have hands on camera because a focus while shooting will ruin a shot.
