  • fail pernoucsation manfred von richt RICHT HOFEN o is silent

  • Do they have a US dubed version of this yet?

  • The Germans were Not heroes they were sheeple just as Americans that r Apostle mockers that take their orders from Bush & Obam. They should have took orders from Yahweh & let everyone else be a liar.

  • WW1 was caused by many nations and can hardly be just laid on Germany. Nonetheless, what a waste of great people! Please world ... let's all work hard for world peace and try to respect one another. Let's work to avoid another major war.

  • I like this movie more all the time. It is worth owning.

  • This movie needs to be on HBO or Showtime.

  • Interesting how a German pilot,, the enemy of the Allies, is still respected by both sides. He was buried with full military honours by the British.

  • @xvoy2002 this was still a time of honour and chivallery dude. A noble and worthy opponent is worth the respect. This is something sadly lacking today.

  • RIP FROM MIDDLE EUROPA-

    FROM HUNGARY*****

  • This movie was the worse butchery of actually history since the Pearl Harbor movie. The actors were not bad, but the script butchered the character of everyone portrayed in the film. About the only thing the movie got right were the names and the fact that the Baron was once shot in the head. The real shame of it is that the true history would make a much better movie!

  • @Chalenge08 yes it was very in-accurate, i think if u knew nothing about the Baron it would have been good but if u do know anything about him it would have been bad to u

  • Its here on netlfix instant stream now, great film.

  • The original cut (124 minutes)was quite good, but I am displeased with the 105 minute version outside released Germany.

The flying scenes are cut up and scrambeled making ist a unlogical turn of events.

  • sicck movie it was tight!

  • My favo movie! love the movie!

  • red barron....real hero....true ace

  • @kdjfnvjvd hero? u do knwo he was the bad guy in the war?

  • @gayhorseseathaaay what makes the Baron a "bad guy"? and how does it make him less of a hero to his country? you call him a bad guy and say he isnt a hero just because you weren't on the german side. and thus he is a "bad guy". I suppose if you were german you wouldn't call Raoul Lufberry a hero.

  • @Wapow27 he was on the German side, sure he was a great pilot, but he was on the bad side. Yes Germany was the bad side they were on the central powers, which started the war. then after austria quit, their quest for dominance destroyed most of western europe. so ya hes a dick playing for bigger dicks.

  • @gayhorseseathaaay

you have no idea what you are talking about right?

There were no bad or good powers in WW1!

i mean you call the germans bad for...what?

the british moved europe into the war because they wanted to destroy germanys better economy. the russians did it to save their own empire from revolution. the french did for hateful revenge.

The Austrian government wanted to save the empire aswell...

The german government only wanted germany to be one of the leading powers on earth!

  • @gayhorseseathaaay

And btw russia started the war by giving the very first attack order!

  • @gayhorseseathaaay there was no good or bad side, and France was going to invade germany after the Franco-Prussian war, so Germany attacked France first as a counter offensive to their offensive. its not like they were killing millions of innocents when hitler was in charge. that is evil I agree, saying germany was the "bad guys" just because they were on the central powers. it's just a name of a side. and THEY destroyed most of Western Europe? I think each side has their share of the blame

  • @gayhorseseathaaay you're probably some dumbass 11 year old going by what your History book says.

  • @gayhorseseathaaay at 31 don't you think you should be grown out of the whole "goodies and baddies" mentality of warfare?

War does not determine who is right, only who is left.

  • TJ,

You say you are half German...

    Rottweiler or Dachshund ?

  • TJ. you're related to MVR you say ????

Grow up you stupid boy and keep your stench of his name you fool. Nobody believes you anyway.

I am not going to waste anymore time with you retarded liar. BTW its" Immelmann Manoeuvre"

    Do you speak German ?

  • Go to your forum you neo nazi troll.

    it's strench .like you stink.

    tj

  • You really are insane !

    STRENCH ??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

The only NEO NAZI FOOL here is YOU !!

  • Guys the Immelman turn was neither a roll nor a loop. If you think a wing warping Fokker EIII was capable of a roll off the top of a loop, well...

It was a climbing turn with lots of rudder. Kind of a shallow Chandelle - but at no time was the aircraft stalled or out of full control. Exit was a controlled dive at 180 degrees to entry, recovering at the same altitude - BTW experienced RFC/RAF pilots had often never heard of the term immediately after WW1

  • terryjohn you're an U-TUBE Wikipedia IDIOT !

  • takes one to find one ...........

    tj

  • oldbobg, I know who Immelman was. I wanted to hear a explanation by terryjohn what a Immelmann manoever is since he said MVR did not fly aerobatics ??

It is not a turn but a loop btw.

    Blue skies

  • he didnt scorn aerobatics read his bio and i'm related so i should know as to hitler it's by comments below that get me mad. tell me if they made a movie on helmut Wick ww2 ace what would people think........

    tj

  • well a split S half roll turn on one wing then pull stick back..The red baron couldnt do this he was never a aerobatic pilot read his bio.i've never heard of any manovers made by him.i also have haynes Harlyfords book.too he says in there he never made any stunts.

    tj

  • you call this english .

  • Maneuvers.......my English is Bad.

Go and take yours and Die. you sound like a forum nutter Troll

  • terryjohn, MVR did not fly aerobatics ? Please explain what's a Immelmann .

You're absolutely right, there are ill placed comments that have nothing to do with WW1 aviation.

What has the Holocaust or Hitler to do with a bad movie about the Red Baron . I know this is U-tube and there are lots of people talking, when they should get an education first.

  • Immelmann was a contemporary of MVR. He developed a flying technique to evade by a specific turn. This fellow was killed. That turn is still taught today in modern fighter aircraft. This is an interesting topic since these people actually created a great deal of the flying strategy used in all air forces today. They were all (allied / axis) pioneers

  • right luftwaffe were pilots in ww2 same as ww1 right. just that they fought for germany not hitler.

    tj

  • why' you must have seen too many snoopy cartoons...........

MVR was a Bad flyer..let land a aircraft

read his bio's.and was told by his family.

    in 70's..same thing..

    tj

  • Mate take your medication and improve your BAD English for crying out loud.

  • take's one to find one.

  • Save your money, this is one very awful movie.

That is,- if you know about ww1 aviation and the life of MVR. Badly researched and executed.

It was a total box office flop in Germany.

  • i agree it's not real life story. but think flyboys then this get the picture. red baron was not a acrobatic pilot so his flying was stright shooting. his brother was a better pilot true.

    tj

  • you can see the mind control and instilled guilt in the actor when he says "yes we had a terrible past" well they did not.. this way of thinking is a rresult of their education purposely filled with lies.

  • Hitler and the holocaust were a lie? I. Don't. Think. So.

  • no it was not i agree but that was just 1% of nasty bastards that done this...

but that dont make all german army luftwaffe u boats any forces armed the same.

    heroes all.....even the waffen ss

    they were the same.

    tj

  • i have the vid in english from denmark . its really good

  • I want to buy this . Can someone please tell me where to get it?

  • Is this available anywhere in the United Homosexuals of America?

  • good movie saw it really nice

  • Yes. Please release this into the USA.

  • Get this released into the USA.

  • Warner Bros. had a part in producing this movie and I've see trailers where they speak english!! Why won't the bring it to the U.S.?? I so much want to see this film!

  • Yea, I hate subtitles but I would watch this if it came stateside. Looks interesting!

  • Baron Manfred von Richthofen was a real hero. It is just too bad that it was panned in Germany when it came out.

Release it in the USA and Canada.

  • I have seen this movie a few times now and I think it is a good movie. I will concede that it takes liberties with history, but he is a legend now to most people anyway and the legend is well served by this fine movie. Mathias Schweighofer and Til Schweiger are excellent in the movie and I thought the lesser roles were also well done ... especially the Kaiser and von Hoeppner.

This movie needs to be released in the USA.

One more thing ... Lena Heady was also excellent. Bring it to America.

  • Richthofen was legend. Other aces wasnt that great legend.

  • ok matkoren what about Eddie Rickenbacker, oswald boelcke, werner voss, all other great aces , the red barron wasnt the only legond, they all fought, they all deserve respect. the life expectency of a fighter pilot during that time was what, months... weeks.... perhaps you dont understand you where almost garonteed to die.

  • I would say that Werner Voss, Oswald Boelcke, Immelmann, and Ernst Udet were all up there, too, but it is the Red Baron who is the legendary hero ... right or wrong. He actually had more than 80 "kills," but the rules only gave him credit for 80.

  • was it 2 in 1916 observer and a pilot of 2 seater.

    tj

  • Many aces had more than their number of credited kills. Part of the system, you know.

  • I saw this movie (I Downloaded it) It was so cool!!!!!!!

  • He was part of the aristocracy, and would have no reason to join the "People Socialist Movement", which did not come along until FAR after his death. He is a Hero of Germany and a legend among fighter pilots. He also was awarded the Pour Le Merite, or the Blue Max...the German equivalent of the Medal of Honor.

  • He was shot in his cockpit from the ground, over a distance of more than 800 yrds, (!) by crpl Sean Mulligan of the 6th Queensland Rifles. The best shot in Australia, BUT ONLY WHEN DRUNK.

Therefore Mulligan was the only enlisted man in the ANZAC's who was ORDERED by his CO to be intoxicated while on duty.

It payed off, allthough this kill was never confirmed officially.

Unfortunately poor Mulligan suffered the fate of many WW1 soldiers 15 days later and got killed too.

  • they need to do a movie on Erich Hartmann. He to is a true hero, and one of the founder of the modern day Lufwaffa. Read his book The Blond Knight Of Germany and you to can see why.

  • or Helmut Wick ' both hero's both pllots

    tj

  • I wish they show that in the U.S.

  • When is this good movie going to be released in the USA?

  • first off if Brown Shot the Baron how come his seat had no hole at the back. ??

    tj

  • ...the future of europe after the war was decided in a dinner between rossevelt, churchil and stalin. Hartman was part of the forces that fought against the cummunist so even that he was capture by the american forces they sadly had to give him to the soviets. The communist wanted the me 262 knowledge that Hartman had to develope a jet figther, but when he refused to colaborate they put him isolated in a cell for years.

  • yeh right hartman what of hans han .

and graff...surely hartman could have taken ussr sides.whats the point.war was over good ridince.too.hopes it the last.

    tj

  • Well he died in that combat against Cap Arthur but some people says that he was kill by Arthur and others that he was kill by a soldier who was on the trenches.

  • no i say austrilian gunner brown was way off. 800 yrds.

    tj

  • go the ground fire.thats how he was killed.

    tj

  • the comments removed computers fault,

    tj

  • Captain. Arthur roy brown a canadian pilot was the man who killed the red barron.

    Go canada

  • Comment removed

  • why was it because he was in the RAF.

maybe. cant ground fire kill any pilot.like red baron as well...he was not imortal

    tj

  • now he was shot by a signle bullet from the canadian pilot it pearced hsi heart and he managed to land in aussie countroled territory .

  • proof !!

    tj

  • first off you try and proove it wrong you little faggot .. and why dont you go look it up on wikepedia or any website ot ther and see what they say you ignorant fuck

  • i dont have too as im related to baron..

    cheers

    tj

  • o, so hten you have nazi fachist in your blood you filthy discustind supremasist

  • well wikipedia has some use. brainwashes nuts..learn and listern. ignorant.

    tj

  • Manfred von Richthofen died before fascism was even invented, you moron.

  • Richtofen wasn't a fascist. The NDSP (National Deutche Socialist Party, for those who are dumb) wasn't born until the twenties and the Red Baron was killed near the end of WWI.

I hate people who make assumptions like this. Not all Germans were/are Nazis. Yes, it's a bad time in history, but I blame the establishment and people against whom there is concrete evidence and not those who joined the NDSP for economic or social advancement

  • Not NDSP, but NSDAP...

  • me too as im related too.

    tj

  • TodayIsHistory is right, it annoys me that German heroes are disregarded as vicious nazis. Especially in WW1 BEFORE there was even a Nazi party.

  • why when a movie say this and german pilot's that brings out nasty remarks like holocaust i could not care if it was ww2 movie on luftwaffe pilot's. Helmut wick was a pilot a great ace.

    tj

  • No one can say for sure how he was killed, but the evidence indicates that another pilot could not have shot him down. If you knew anything about it you would know that. Now who's the ignorant fuck?

  • what gets me its in asia but not here or USA as im told.relesed.

    tj

  • Any plans to release this in the US?

  • and here too

    tj

  • Hollywood will never let us watch this movie...german heroes? never! I hope I can see this movie some day and I would like to see a movie from Erick Hartman too. I think is time to recognize that there where heroes in both sides.

  • what hollywood .never let you i aint seen it too.

but its in german speakin im told. so never relesed.here .pity.

    tj

  • didnt the german aces move to the USA after the war gunther rall. is one.he his a nice guy.prob' nobody wants AKA GERMAN HERO'S..seem good. but im related to this guy. RED BARON .the luftwaffe were all great guys. i know there were some bad things done by few.

    but thats war.

    tj

  • well after WWII the luftwaffe as the other components of the german military forces was dismantled so those pilots that could leave germany after the war travel to differetns country but the bubi (erick hartman) was convicted in the Soviet Union where he had terrible years because he never accepted to help the commis. After was liberated he joint the luftwaffe again as a commander...a real hero story

  • Comment removed

  • tell me why did hartman still stay in ussr prison what of herman graff he went ussr way. why the war was gone Hitler dead good shut.. hartman stays im mystified and they didnt talk to graff after the freement of hartman.. but did 30 yrs later on. why ? these were not party members.

nor graff. hartman.etc.just men who flew planes .

    tj

  • they even tried making it Hollywood friendly, with the whole Jewish pilot being Richtovens close friend and he cried when he died. Very Gay

  • ...no way! did Manfred actually had a Jewish friend?

  • Comment removed

  • yes verner voss was one. his second in command.,so im told.

    tj

  • It was Werner Voss (pronounced Verner Fose), who Richtofen said was the better pilot. He died in a dogfight against a large number of British aces, (some say up to 24), and he managed to damage every one of them before herand out of bullets and was at last shot down. It is considered the greatest dogfight of all time.

  • he damaged 5 but shot down 2 think? with epic fight mccudden .

    yes he was the best.

    tj

  • He shot down 2 before engaging a flight of aces. He decomissioned a couple more SE5a though they were still airborn and made it back to base, he shot holes in nearly all the British planes he engaged during that last fight, but other than the 2 before he shot down none from that wing of planes which made him famous for fighting, though as I said before some were unflyable when they returned to base since they were too shot up.

  • so if unflyable 2 more confirmed victories then. pilots dont count. its the planes that do.

    cheers terry

  • That isn't the point, he didn't shoot them down, hense no victory, they landed safely at base so to speak.

  • yes maybe but was they a write off thats my point.then a victory's.

    tj

  • Agreed. Now.. if the plane makes it back to base, and can be repaired, that seems to me it would be different. I'd say that if the plane is knocked out of combat it's a victory.

  • if say the plane lands back at base and crashes with wheels broken thats a shoot down.or scraped

  • Wow. I don't know!

  • The famous 56th Squadron, led by James B. McCudden. From what I've read, Voss was a superb pilot, unlike MvR, whom it was said was a great shot but flew his planes "like a bus".

  • yes there were jews in german airforce voss was one as in told. and jews were in the ww2 luftwaffe pilots too. hans j marsille was one.alleged.

    tj

  • Comment removed

  • right heroes try helmut wick ww2 same pilot but was a third riech ace THINK> would it be made i would like to make one.

    tj

  • Yes Wick had a score of 58 at the end of the battle of Britain however Wick might of been a house hold name in Germany, very few on the other side knew him and this is the difference.

  • thats why theres no ww2 ace films. i wonder why. maybe he fought for germany but think Hitler.wick was no Nazi.nor any luftwaffe pilot.or molders.

    tj

  • Wick and Molders were not Nazis, as were no members of the German armed forces since it was forbiden for any soldier to be a member of a political party. Men of both sides fort and died for there country. And at the end of the day there was good and bad on all sides.

  • When or where they will release it? Or just Germans will watch this movie?...

  • How historically accurate is this film. I know the entire story probably better than anyone in the States, what's the deal on this? Flyboy's SUCKED!

  • wow, it was a german versioin of Flyboys. What a shame, they made the flying circus look like a bunch of homoish frat boys out of a Bennaton Commercial. Made Manfred into this emotional Teen Idol. Matheas did an OK job, adn the movie is Awesome looking at it from the views of my 4 adn 9 yr old kids. But the real story is so cool that it had not much ot do with it. Voss was a bad man in real life and in this movie they make him to be a bit of a pussy to.

  • I watched this movie on DVD during a recent trip to Germany (Dec. 2008). First off, it is NO better and NO more historically accurate than Flyboys. And both the plot and the acting are thoroughly Hollywood despite being a German production. I might give the CG sequences a slight not -- but that may just be because I enjoyed seeing German aircraft.

The biggest disappointment for me was that the German actors actually spoke IN ENGLISH and the German was actually dubbed in over the English!

  • ok, ok, ok, WHEN we see this movie in the world?!?!? I can´t wait for much time.

  • ya she pronounced the red barrons name wrong. dumb bitch

  • Yeah, but you spelled "Baron" wrong. Which is more difficult? Who is the dumb bitch now?

  • i just hope i get to see it here in the U.S., it looks pretty good.

  • the kids got a great idea how bout a film about Gunthar prien

that dude was a bad ass

  • Wow, its great looking at it from the eyes of my 9 yr old and 4 yr old. Its like Jurrasic Park 2 when it could of been like Das Boot, which is nothing like.

Its really made for the Artist impaired and those who just want to have fun and watch a fairy. I would like to see that kind of money being spent on a realistic cool movie telling this type of tale.

  • I didn't see it, but from the trailer and scenes I did see it looks ridiculous. I ben on Richthofen since I was a kid and none of it seems to add up to the real thing. and Voss wasn't too bad, goering was the nut.

  • Comment removed

  • yes it looks it, you are a great guy who likes movies of hero's kids today should be themselfs as hero's not wanna be pop star fakes...worship.

    i wasnt so im ok.

    tj

  • those authors names are p. j. carisella and james w. ryan for the book WHO KILLED THE RED BARON

  • oh, incidently, as a side note let me say that after you see the movie, if you want to learn more about the real story of the heroes (and, maybe, villains) of the air war of WWI read the books THEY FOUGHT FOR THE SKY by Quintin Reynolds and/or WHO KILLED THE RED BARON by an author whos name escapes me.

  • i have a bachelors degree in history and have been researching the history of aviation for over 20 years. every comment i have read on this movie/topic thusfar has been nothing more than pointless. it is only a movie. entertainment. to initiate a historical debate over an action warfilm loosely based on the life of a soldier who has been elevated to the status of pop icon/legend is an exercise in futility. take it for what it is and relax.

  • Has this film been released in the US yet? If not, anybody know when?

  • can u speak in english

    ur spelling is almost arabic????

  • the germans were better then the brits in both wars thats why amertica had too come and help them out by far the germans are better then the brits if the had numbers you and i would be speaking german your a moron do the world a favor and go shot yourself

  • Go and check the historical records mate, The Germans and British had higher Scoring Aces than the Americans ever managed, in any war, EVER!!. Von Richtofen was a brilliant pilot, but the majority of his, and other aces kills were Novice Pilots, who had hardly flown more than 10 hours!! Your Country didnt want to help, the Few Americans who chose to help out by their own accord are Heroes. Unfortunately, their actions all those years ago gave you your freedom !!

    Die in a Fire...

  • i cant believe that there was any surving brits there posining the world you suck i hate you dont even reply your such a heart less loser burn in hell you peaic of shit

  • lol, why dont you do yourself a favor, and learn how to use proper grammar and spell and type correctly.

  • im sorry my english isnt too your likeing but im not english and dont like the languged

  • spelling is bad but please piont out my grammer faults

  • Richthofen a Hero? You bet. Germans of all generations should not forget his deeds, and the ultimate sacrifice that he along with many other heroes made for his country. May he rest in peace in Valhalla!

  • Voss was better, though the time he strafed a down plane for the heck of it made me lose some respect for Voss. But Voss was considered the most skilled pilot of the First World War, and if he didn't get in an engagement which wasn't possible to win, he most likely would of became the highest scoring pilot of the war. He joined far later, but yet was Richthofens greatest rivel for a while.

  • I disagree..I think Oswald Boelcke and Max Immelmann rank higher than Werner Voss...although there is no arguement that Voss was a very skilled pilot...as evidenced by his epic battle with Arthur Rhys-Davies of the RFC.

  • does anybody know when it comes out the U.S.A

  • heroes yes and in ww2 too. worship.them too.

    tj

  • i want to see this movie

  • The Germans made it. The Germans refused to give up artistic control to Hollywood who surely would have made it historically inaccurate. The moneychangers in Hollywood would not be able to bring themselves to recognize the Honor and Heroism of German (Prussian) loyalty to their countrymen. I am proud of the Germans for adhering to principle instead of a little money. It's about time German schoolchildren had German heroes to admire.

  • i havent seen the movie yet. but having seen the trailer and reading here and there, the movie doesnt seem very historically accurate. we will have to wait for a good richthofen movie

  • i think it may have potential, sure the movie industry may take its liberties to insure ticket sales, but i don't think this movie is as offensive as you imply. from the trailers i saw they seem to have hit most of the important facts. the romance thing with the nurse, well?! hey i said screenwriters do that, right. and besides, he was young, single, and popular, chances are he had a romantic life. even though very little history records it. this movie might be good, lets wait and see.

  • i thinks its going to bad. but that wasnt my point. i was just replying to the idea that its historically accurate. and its not. but youre right, we will have to wait and see. im not gonna miss it

  • The film is historically in accurate, didn't you read reviews for it? hehe Heck Voss looks like his is in his 30s when in life he was only 19.

  • well you said would not be historically inaccurate.if USA made it. well germans euro made it and its not at all well made

    factually..life story.

.dont get me wrong it looks good. but could do better.

    tj
