  • is it just me or does this beat any of the recordings of this song created with Halford?

  • @SycoMantis91 No , Halford IS the voice of Priest .

  • @badreligion1231 Ripper did a pretty damn good job himself, and I just think the aggression with which he performs this particular song tops any performances of it I've seen or heard with Halford

  • Gotta say, I don't like Tim's studio stuff with Priest, but he absolutely shreds on the classic material.

  • why the fuck is the audience singing usher in the beginning of the video? lol

  • Dios Ripper en directo es DIOSSSSSSSS

  • tim ripper hace un buen trabajo en esta cancion pero no hay como la de (hasta el momento) de estudio con haldford... ademas... se comieron el intro :/

  • I feel than ripper has a more agressive voice than halford. So IMO he did pretty good here.

  • @narutoguy56

More aggressive? Did you even listen to the song haha?

Rob screams his fucking lungs out on the original. This live one Ripper is just hitting the notes in a distorted voice, he's not screaming. He's definitely done a LOT better performances of it though, I'll give him that.

    :D

  • @JoeRoberts666

In fairness, he never said anything about this particular performance, just that Ripper's vocals are more aggressive in general, which I'd say is true.

  • ripper!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think Ripper's a tad better than Halford :P

  • ripper is tha big smash

  • WHERE THE F*CK IS THE INTRO?

  • Ripper Is Better Than Halford, And Ripper Did Better With Priest Than Anything With Halford In My Opinion

  • @Widward101

I sincerely hope you are just trolling or joking with that comment. Halford is considered the Metal God and possibly the greatest metal vocalist of all time. You make a comment like that, you pretty much lose your metal horns and get excommunicated from all that is metal acknowledgable. Its one thing to voice an opinion, but there is no opinion to say that anyone is better than Halford, cause that is like saying the world is flat. Only a poser would say that.

  • @Steelix123 well the world is flat sir

  • @Steelix123

    You must be a tool.

  • Tim sang very good, but nothing like Halford

  • Ripper made a GREAT job in Priest.

  • @TrueMalka agree!

  • wow from 1:57 to 2:00 ripper sounds just like halford

  • pretty cool performance but needs to be regular speed.. or faster maybe if anything !

  • Have to say, the Ripper sounds pretty damn good

  • i love ownes voice

  • Wheres the fucking Intro solo!?!??!?!?!

  • u dont need it, its a hell of a performance, great fucking song.... but its just my opinion, dont sweat it =D

  • this is crazy but i wish they played the intro solo that solo is just awesome

  • Tim owens es un buen cantante,, es raro ver un baritono cantando heavy metal pero el es bueno.

  • this is kinda slow...

  • MIEW!

  • RRRRRRRRRips the air lol

  • Many people are making the mistake of simply comparing Ripper to Halford. Ya gotta look past that. I was skeptical at first too but then I really listened to Tim and he's an incredible vocalist!

It's a shame bands like Priest and Iced Earth have somewhat ruined his reputation. He does have his own stuff including Beyond Fear which is awesome and I really recommend listening to it.

As for covering Priest live, I think he does a hell of a job. See it as a tribute, not a comparison. Hail Priest!

  • It's a damn shame. No disrespect to Matt Barlow but Tim is Superior.

  • @Erck712 Ripper is an amazing vocalist, but I like his eras of Priest and Iced Earth. Beyond Fear is very awesome.

  • @Erck712 If you REALLY want a true showcase of Ripper's abilities, check out Winters Bane's "Heart of a Killer" one of the all-time great metal albums and he destroys thoughout.

  • Shit version...

  • Why does everyone diss ripper? I know hes not halford, but, the replacement could have been a lot worse

  • Should've gone with Ralf Scheepers. Currently in Primal Fear.

  • Yeah right.... Have you ever wondered how shitty song like "Burn In Hell" or "Bullet Train" would sound with Ralf??? Ralf is an incredible singer too, but its obvious that JP wanted a more "aggressive" vocalist! That's why the picked Tim!!! You should listen to the Winter's Bane material too!!

  • Ralf? If you mean Rob Halford I do think he could sing those songs and have it sound good. He can sing aggressive too you know. Anyways Ripper is still epic.

  • No, not Rob!!! Rob can be as aggressive as Tim! I think he's proved that on records such as "Crucible" and "War Of Words"! I was talking bout Ralf's vocal approach (-Though he has the lungs and octaves for JP)!

  • who the hell is ralf?

  • Scheepers... From Primal Fear

  • the first singer in gamma ray

  • Yeah, he just can't be compared to Rob

  • ... this verison sux. Ripper ruined it.

  • Agreed.

  • tom have a good voice... but hatflord y much better

  • I think you mean tim lol

  • rob is way better

but i like tim on yngwies perpetual flame

  • ok, best version of this song :P

  • Both are great singers Halford and Ripper but Rob simply is the METAL GOD,,,

  • Rob Halford is the man he came up with all the parts first.Singers like ripper owe their style to the man Rob Halford. He is the single greatest metal vocalist of all time.If you dont agree you havent listened close enough.

  • i wish they would play version of this song in concert fff=(

  • Yeah, I Know what you mean, Ripper gave a whole other dimension to the Priest Classics

  • Why the hell there isn't a single video on youtube of this awesome performance???

  • i think the ripper voice are better than halford voice

but halford are the king and god of heavy

  • NO! BAD! You fail. Rob is a way better singer. His range and control are just incredible.

  • holy shit ...

ive had a live version of metal meltdown the whole time and always preffered it to the studio

    and this is it

    KILLER \m/

  • why thank you lol

  • @ofwolfandwhiplash

hey this is chewyman545. my account was suspended.

  • Oh hey. That sucks.

  • yeah. what's up.

  • Not much bro

  • Love Priest......Saw them in the 80's and still have jearing problems...

  • ripper kicked this songs arse holy shit

  • Halford is awesome, but Tim Owens didn't hurt them any with what he contributed, unlike his horrible performance with Iced Earth.

  • i dont think he hurt iced earth, more so that the songwriting wasnt there anymore. that and that his voice was nothing like matt so he really couldnt sing the old songs. but for the most part they avoided that.

  • It's downtuned and slower, but still nice :p

  • Oh my god!!!!This song always can killing me!!THE BEST!!!Ripper voices....GREAT!!!

  • Wow, Ripper covers the song flawlessly. I was impressed.

  • Not as good as the studio at all, too slow!

  • ripper is pretty good here

  • halford is better than the ripper my opinion tho

  • Kick ass performance. I love the Ripper!!!

  • Fantastic, even better than studio version

  • The Ripper fucking delivers on this song, no offense to Halford, but Ripper was the best thing to happen to Priest, even though Halford is the original and will always be a metal god.

  • are you kidding? so are you saying the ripper albums are better than the Halford albums?

  • No, I think the writing was much better on Halford albums. But I like Ripper's voice more.

  • Me too...

  • Cool

  • yo dude put up the whole metalmeltdown live album its awesome

  • it sounds like the guitars singing back to the lyrics in the verse....awesome, cheers 4 the upload:)

  • THIS IS NOT ROB HALFORD!!!!

  • IS, THE RIPPER

  • @EkDp666 lol ohhh sorry about that i wrote that a year ago when i was barley getting into priest hahaha theyre my favorite band now :)

  • @slaughter69corpse Priest are the gods man!

  • It's Tim Owens dude.
