@badreligion1231 Ripper did a pretty damn good job himself, and I just think the aggression with which he performs this particular song tops any performances of it I've seen or heard with Halford
More aggressive? Did you even listen to the song haha?
Rob screams his fucking lungs out on the original. This live one Ripper is just hitting the notes in a distorted voice, he's not screaming. He's definitely done a LOT better performances of it though, I'll give him that.
In fairness, he never said anything about this particular performance, just that Ripper's vocals are more aggressive in general, which I'd say is true.
I sincerely hope you are just trolling or joking with that comment. Halford is considered the Metal God and possibly the greatest metal vocalist of all time. You make a comment like that, you pretty much lose your metal horns and get excommunicated from all that is metal acknowledgable. Its one thing to voice an opinion, but there is no opinion to say that anyone is better than Halford, cause that is like saying the world is flat. Only a poser would say that.
Many people are making the mistake of simply comparing Ripper to Halford. Ya gotta look past that. I was skeptical at first too but then I really listened to Tim and he's an incredible vocalist!
It's a shame bands like Priest and Iced Earth have somewhat ruined his reputation. He does have his own stuff including Beyond Fear which is awesome and I really recommend listening to it.
As for covering Priest live, I think he does a hell of a job. See it as a tribute, not a comparison. Hail Priest!
@Erck712 If you REALLY want a true showcase of Ripper's abilities, check out Winters Bane's "Heart of a Killer" one of the all-time great metal albums and he destroys thoughout.
Yeah right.... Have you ever wondered how shitty song like "Burn In Hell" or "Bullet Train" would sound with Ralf??? Ralf is an incredible singer too, but its obvious that JP wanted a more "aggressive" vocalist! That's why the picked Tim!!! You should listen to the Winter's Bane material too!!
Ralf? If you mean Rob Halford I do think he could sing those songs and have it sound good. He can sing aggressive too you know. Anyways Ripper is still epic.
No, not Rob!!! Rob can be as aggressive as Tim! I think he's proved that on records such as "Crucible" and "War Of Words"! I was talking bout Ralf's vocal approach (-Though he has the lungs and octaves for JP)!
Rob Halford is the man he came up with all the parts first.Singers like ripper owe their style to the man Rob Halford. He is the single greatest metal vocalist of all time.If you dont agree you havent listened close enough.
i dont think he hurt iced earth, more so that the songwriting wasnt there anymore. that and that his voice was nothing like matt so he really couldnt sing the old songs. but for the most part they avoided that.
The Ripper fucking delivers on this song, no offense to Halford, but Ripper was the best thing to happen to Priest, even though Halford is the original and will always be a metal god.
is it just me or does this beat any of the recordings of this song created with Halford?
