  • My 2007 Nissan Sentra S power window controls have just stopped working. The power lock control on the driver's side door is also non-functioning. The power lock control on the passenger side works tho. what's my problem?

  • I have a 2000 hyundai sonata, my window seem to have went off the track how do I go about fixing this? The motor still works and everything goes down but the window.

  • Very very very helpful, was my exact problem on the same car. Now I use my new tool set I just got for Xmas and go fix it right now. Thanks man

  • Thanks for the video... We were having issue finding the hidden screws!!!!!! We were able to reinstall the window and make the power windows functional again! Happy holidays!!!!!! And just for thought, Ben paid $2000.00 for his '96 Accord! Puerto Rico is tough on cars!!!!!!!

  • ill try that ... oh the 1000dollarauto was great, thanks

Also i thinking of replacing my honda civic DX W/O a rpm gauge into one with RPM gauge... can i just get one from say a civic that has one and just install it... will it work right away, what im saying is will the harness be compatible>>> Oh most important Question what is a good compatible year with my 1999 honda civic DX... Again than you much

  • I have a 99 dodge intrepid. The back window on the driver side won't roll back up. Its stuck in its position. It will roll down though. How do i fix it? Please help. Thanx

  • How did you remove the window? and how did you remove the side mirror? im having trouble with that, it's a real pain in the ars ha

  • i have a 93 dodge dakota and the window isnt working because the window is not hooked up to the motor arm. how do i hook the motor arm back up to the window? do you have to take the arm off and put it on the window then hook the arm back up to the motor? please help

    thank you

  • @errickidle basically yes you need to reattach the motor to the regulator and the regulator to the window. I would recommend getting a repair manual or searching online for a diagram to see how the different parts work and how they fit together this will give you a much better idea of how things work.

  • I have a 1994 nissan maxima 4th generation and both of the back power windows are being held up by duck tape because the keep rolling down by them self. the motor for the window still works because I can hear it trying to move up an down. would the window just be off the track?

  • I have a 1999 Chrysler Intrepid....yes I know, it's a damn shame....the glass in the drivers window, rolls up, but it stops at the to leaving a crack because it's not on track, you can see the actual glass has slid off track. Can I fix that because I REFUSE to pay some dude to fix it for 80 damn dollars when I could've done it myself...I'm a girl, but I'm no dummy, tell me what to do and I'll fix it, pleasseeeee and thanks!

  • @tammysoulful basically if you need to get the window back on the channel you need to do what we did in the video and remove the door panel first. That should give you access to the window and you may even be able to simply place it back on track. If not you may need to remove the regulator and reinsert the glass. Do a google image search for your vehicle you might find a diagram of the window setup and that could help you see what all the parts and the inside looks like.

  • Another cool video. I didn't see how you got that window off with the window in the 'up' position. Did you just sneak the wrench in from below? There's a job where Xray eyes from past experience is critical, ha ha.

  • I have a 2000 ford Taurus.....none of my electrical windows are rolling down. My problem started when my drivers side mirror came off. Is that somehow connected to the electrical system with the windows? Or could a fuse be blown?

  • A dude get your information correct.

You use silicone lubricant because it is absorbed into the foam rubber and does not just lie on top and keeps the rubber pliable .

If not the foam rubber will dry out and crack and become brittle.

  • Hey guys my problem is alittle unique. my 02 chevy avalanche power window will not work. All other windows work fine. I thought it was the switch . Put a new switch in from chevy dealer and it did the same thing. I wired 12v directly to the motor and it worked fine up and down. But still cant get this one window to work by use of the switch .Does anyone know what else could be the problem.

  • @camalot55 I'm not personally familiar with that model but if it's not the window motor could be a possible relay? Not sure if those models use a separate relay, one that is in the switch itself, or not.

  • @camalot55 In case you haven' solved this issue... brand new switch, so obviously is not the switch... try the fuses. Some window motors have their own fuse. Check window relays. Also check wiring specially in the door boot. check to see if is not cut or may just be a loose connector. If you have solved this issue please let us know what it was. It will be of big help for those peeps having the same problem.

  • @camalot55 i forgot to mention.... I put some door speakers on an 03 avalanche and had a problem with front passenger window not coming up or down. After some trouble shooting i found the problem within the passenger switch connector. This connectors are so easy to damage. Make sure your connector is pushed all the way in and all the pins are in all the way. It was a pain. I supported the joint with some electric tape so it wouldn't come loose.

  • Great help thanks mate from Australia :) thumbs up good job

  • My window on my car wont go up or down what yah think?

  • nice vids, please make more

  • thank you so much, my window was stuck down.

  • I have a 98 Civic and the driver's side window doesn't work properly. It will roll all the way down, but when I roll it back it up, it slips down into the door about an inch every time it gets near the top and makes a loud noise, almost like a knocking. I was thinking that it was slipping off track, but I'm not sure. Any ideas?

  • how would you fix a window alignment because we have no air conditioning either and it's 90 degrees like everyday please help!

  • @carss4lifee most power window setups are similar to the one in the video.. simply disassemble per your haynes manual and make sure the window, regulator and channel are all in working order and properly aligned to smoothly operate up and down.

  • hey bro i have a crv from 2000 i have one window that wont move up or down how do i know if its the regulator... i mean i dont wanna open that if the regulator is the problem because i dont have a spare part... but if its fixable like that sure i will... thanks

  • Lol someone just lost their job. Thanks guys :)

  • Hey I have a 1990 accord 2 door and i rolled the window down, then when i tried to roll it up and it only went 1/2-way and stopped so i tried rolling it down again to roll it up and it only went up 1/4 of the way, so it was stuck in the down position. Now the motor doesnt even make noise but there is a draw on the power so I know its not the switch thats the problem i've cleaned the plugs to the best of my ability and still no luck...do you know whats going on? Any help would be much apreciated

  • good video i think my clips are broke window wont stay up slides down had to tape it up today happened after window wouldnt go down shut the door and it fell down im gonna take the door off this week and see can i buy just the clips that connect he window to the regulator or fabricate something any help would be great tryin to do as cheap as poss just bought the car :) thanx

  • quick question i have 91 era accord and i replaced my regulater on my drivers side window i have played with the alighnment bar towards the rear of the door and still when i roll my window up it falls forward about a 5cm unless i push on the rear of the window is there anything i can do ?

  • Fixed my window Thanks man I have a 1998 Dodge Durango and the window strip was rusted to the window got that out and new and now it works like new

  • I never seen the window roll up or down after that job....great video and the detail was expert level but showing the end result of the rapair ( demenstrating the window rolling up or down) would have made a good video a great video.

  • What would cause a power window to make two or three quick popping sounds going either up or down, but it only does it once in a while? The window doesn't stop when the noise happens. This is on a 1 year old car.

  • @shoua68mommy sounds like a few problems I'd say for the drivers it's def the channel making the window go off track in fact it seems to be alignment issues for most of them

  • ok i have honda civic lx 96 & on the driver side the front window goes down & up but once it goes up it doesn't go into place unless u push it out if u're from the inside of the car so is tat cuz the window's not in place? for the front passager side it just goes up & down slow so is tat cuz of the channel? for the back driver side doesn't move even though u hear the clickin noise & as for the back passager side it goes down but not up so is this a bad wire or regulator problem or even both???

  • i have a few questions:

    1. What kind of silicone lube did you use?

    2. Is there a specific type of sil. lube that can only be used on the window tracks or all sil. lube will work?

  • I have a 1996 Honda Passport and am having trouble with the power windows. The two front windows work fine from the master switch and the door switch.

    1. The rear driver side windows motors runs (you can hear the motor running), but the windows does not move (master switch or door switch).

    2. The rear passenger side windows gives a clicking sound when you use the switch (master or door), then nothing happens.

The power locks are also not working. Any ideas or help is appreciated.

  • question???? i have a 96 civic ex coupe, on my passenger door my window goes up but does not go down... i remove the plastic and the speaker and all that stuff... i remove the old regulator and i bought a used regulator...but before i take the old regulator out i wanted to see if the used regulator work, so i disconnect the wire from the old regulator and put it on the used on but it did the same thing..it goes up but does not want to come down???/any help and nice video its very helpful

  • @ekcoupe756 if its doing the same thing on the other motor and regulator I would take a second to make sure that the window is moving freely and properly in the channel.. basically that was the deal with mine in the video it was stuck in the up position because the channel was out of whack and causing it to get jammed. Check the channel and make sure everything is lined up properly.

  • @autohowtovideos well iam ganna record and it show it to u

  • Hey, I have a E11o Toyota corolla, my driver side Power window has the auto button, it has 2 clicks but only the automatic click works, so when I click it and let go it goes all they way to the bottom, the first click does nothing at all, what would you suggest?

  • THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!! I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH NY ACCORD AND YOU HELPED ME ALOT!!!!

  • THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!! I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH NY ACCORD AND YOU HELPED ME ALOT!!!!

  • My best friend has a 2003 Honda Civic and her dad thought the power window motors went bad in her car. He went to a Honda dealership and asked to order power window motors and they laughed and said "those don't break" and suggested cleaning the window tracs...did it and it worked!

  • Hey i have a 2000 Pontiac Grand prix SE,and my Driver side window started acting weird. it was working fine, put it up,get out my car, close the door and it makes a weird sound something broke,i get back in, start the car, roll down the window it gets stuck, then makes a weird sound but wont go back up,then it slides down by itself but the motor works.what do you think?

  • @missinherlove sounds like the glass came off the regulator. that weird sound you heard was the window most likely coming off... most window regulators connect to the glass via 2 bolts at the bottom of the glass this connects it to the regulator (the part that actually pushes your window up and down) if the motor is moving or sounds okay that's most likley the issue. pull the door panel and see whats off and reconnect could just be a bolt that needs tightened back on

  • i just both my tools today :D ..weeee i got it 197$ ..302 pc ngaw!

  • @Kyle sounds like the motor is done

  • hi i have a 1993 isuzu rodeo and the back passenger window i rolled down one day and it will not roll back up the other windows still work tho .. when i push to go up or down it dont make any sounds or anything

  • I love the this statemet "I'm gonna lubricate his channel!"

  • Thanks for the video.. the window on my 93 Accord stopped today.. won't go up or down (about 1/4 down now and stuck) I can plus the glass up and down a bit seem the machinery is jammed up. Going to go pick a use one to replace the regulator/motor tomorrow.

  • Hi, I have a 1999 Honda Accord LX and the driver window just fell down halfway when I was making it go up. I still hear the motor going on but I have no idea what's going on. Does anyone know how much it'll cost to fix it at a mechanics or should I just do it myself? I'm new with cars so I have little to no experience! ): Thanks in advance.

  • @senorericshen well sounds like your window just fell off the track.. basically your going to want to follow the steps in the video if you want to tackle it yourself.. i'm sure your application will be a little different but basically it sounds like you just need to re-align the window in the channel.

  • @autohowtovideos O sorry I forgot to mention when I press up or down it sounds as if the motor is really weak so I'm not sure if it has anything to do with it being underpowered or something like that so does this mean I might have to change the motor/regulator?

  • @senorericshen hard to say it could be the motor sounds weak because the glass being misaligned is causing it to not be able to move freely.. remember odds are its still attached some how.. id say the motor is prolly okay but you are going to need to disassemble and check the parts out... new regulator could be a possibility

  • @autohowtovideos Alright thanks, I'll try to check it and see, first time so I'm pretty nervous >_> thanks for the input

  • um if you could help me that would be great i have a chevy caprice 88 and my driver window wont go up or down but i can pull the rest of the window up and down from the driver side panel and i can tilt me seat back but not forward crazy but i just wanted to know if you help me or what i should do thanks

  • Thanks for this video guys, now I have a hunch whats wrong with my rear passenger window. It rolls up and down fine but it stops about 2 inches before it's full closed at the top.

  • @LonewolfSaichi sounds like you have a very similar problem to what we had in the video check the channels and the rubber in them to make sure its not binding anywhere.

  • Hey good video!

My toyota camry le 96 drivers side power window broke again.

i looked inside and the motors working the cables are going up and down but

the window and the metal part hooked to the window

arent connected anymore like a stopper on the cable fell off?

i can push the window up manually but it just keeps falling down

    any ideas? thanks

  • l have the same problem with a mazda 929.. back rear window won't go up or down. but the regulators and the motors work... the cable is getting tangled.... how should l go about fixing this..>>>>??? Thank you

  • Well this will take a while... I accidentally got my dad's passenger window stuck on his '99 Dodge Dakota... for the 2nd time...

  • What if all three windows work perfectly well except one (the one in the passenger back seat)? Should we do exactly what you're doing (take apart the driver's door)? The window in the back will go down but won't roll back up. It slides down half way on its own too. I pulled it up using my hand but I had to push the up button to get it to go all the way up. Do you know what is wrong with my car?

It's too late to take it to a shop but I am afraid that it will be raining today...

  • @birmingham1010 Also I put plenty of clear tape from Home Depot on my window (the tape is like the size of a duct tape) because I don't want the window to slide down when it rains. Do you think this will hold the window in its place until I can get it fixed?

  • @birmingham1010 without seeing it diagnosis may be a little tough but one thing to remember and this can be applied to all situations and questions that have been asked in the comments section is that there is a process to how the window operates..

you have a motor, regulator, channel, and the glass.. my advice would be remove the door panel from the problem area and begin inspection and testing what works and what does not... seems like a motor issue but ya never know until you open it up

  • @autohowtovideos Thanks for the reply and the video! I'm planning to do what you said when I have time. As of now, I put plenty of tape on the glass window and it is holding it up pretty well. Thanks again!

  • I thought this would be a regulator replacement, but I like how you diagnosed the problem and it turned out to be something completely different.

  • Thanks for the demonstration and information. Very clear explanation of the problem and the remedy. It helped me see that the job was not as complicated as I had first thought. Now going to attempt to replace a broken drivers side electric window on a Ford Fiesta.

  • I just followed this and i fixed my 1990 honda accord window problem. Thanks guys

  • I have the same car with the same problem!! This is PERFECT!!! Thanks, Guys!!! :^)

  • I have my BMW 1990 E34 525i. The Passenger side rear quarter window was broken(not the power window glass, but the fixed triangle quarter glass). I just bought a new quarter window glass, but no clue how to replace it. Do I have to remove to door panel to replace it too? Thanks!

  • @goddesspiggy never put solid window glass in a BMW before but more than likely you will need to take off the door panel..usually that glass is held in by the seals themselves and to properly remove the seals and any brackets that may be holding it in place take off the door panel and so you can see what your looking at.. may want to see if a haynes manual has a reference to it for a proper procedure or get on a BMW forum and ask the question.. hope this helps!

  • I got a faulty switch in the door on my 91 honda this wuz perfect vid for it.

  • i have a cefiro a31 and last night,i've opened my passenger side window..went home and i couldn't not pull up the window..but whenever pressing it down,it goes down easily..now that is fully down, its not movin at all..im trying to pull the glass up by hands but its not moving..im not so fond with electrical stuff, please help..i kinda touched the cables and found out that one is really tight and the other one is loose(on the upper side, the one that is lifting the window)any suggestions?thanks

  • I have a 2003 Honda Accord EX Sedan. For six months the driver-side window would randomly get stuck in the "up" position. Then, about a month ago the window started moving REALLY slow. Last week it ceased to move at all, now stuck in the "down" position. Does it sound more like a fuse, motor, regulator, or window channel problem? Don't want to buy a motor/regulator from Honda unless I have to. Whattaya think?

  • @biehn1337 sounds like it could be a motor or possibly a failing switch.. you could always pull the motor and leave it connected and if it turns or spins quickly while unattached to the regulator that could further help isolate the problem.

  • I have a isuzu trooper 93 model. that vehicle window switches is not working but motor is sound for work. I want to change switch from other vehicle like toyota or nissan becase trooper parts is very costly. Is it possible if is possible please giving to me information about that vehicle.thanks

  • Thanks for the video! I have to replace mine in my 98 accord. I appreciate you guys taking the time to do this! You rock! :)

  • i have a 98 malibu,,the motor in the window is running,,if i push the switch and push down the glass its going,,but by it self doesnt work,,do i have to change the motor because the power is no good.

  • @gronet75 prolly is a bad motor.. follow the steps in the video and make sure its moving on the track properly but sounds like the motor is dying out and can't keep up..

  • hi,i have a 98 malibu and the motor of the window is running but the window doesnt go down,,could be that i have to change the motor because doesnt have power? or what else could be.. thanks

  • Thanks for this video. It came in handy to fix my window this morning.

  • Hey guys. I've got a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee with power windows that won't stay up. Driver's side and passengers side failed within a week of each other. Strange or easy fix?

    Thanks.

  • not sure if your having a motor problem or a problem with regulator.. could be a coincidence that they both failed.. id take the door apart and start testing things like we demonstrate in the video.. would need more info to really say anything..

  • sounds like both of your window regulator cables have broken. all chrysler vehicles have crappy window regulators. go to your local dealership and get you 2 regulators. the aftermarket does make them but they wont last more than a month! seriously!

  • @willieb66 thanks for the advice

  • yeah willieb is the master tech here ha.. def take his advice..

  • thanks guys for your help.

  • ok thanx

  • i have a 2001 honda civic with power windows and passenger window does not go down i have replaced the fuse and i try makin the window go down and the fuse blows , what can the problem be?

  • sounds like mostly an electrical issue.. would be tough to diagnose without more info honestly i would take it in to have a diagnosis done.. gives me a good idea to do a video on electrical diagnosis.. look for it in the future..

  • motor dead in window

  • hey, i have golf 2002 , 1.6 . i have problem with my driver door my window just went down, the electronic buttons are not working. i have the computer to see what errors it gives, but computer can't find the error. i have opened the door panel and bought new window power motor, still its not working?

what to check more, the cables lloks fine .

  • gotta start eliminating one thing at a time.. have you tested the switches? have you checked the fuses for those switches? make sure all your connectors are on properly and that the window itself is not getting stuck..if it tries to go up but won't budge its prolly the window is either stuck or you have a switch problem..

  • my windows take a hundred years to go down and about a life time to get back up what could be the problem?

  • sounds like your motor is starting to go... make sure the window is sliding freely up and down the track and not getting pinched or caught in the rubber.. if its not the motor it could be the switch is dying.. some switches have built in relays and the switch could not be giving full power to the motor....

  • Your motor is a piece of shit now, It's old and on it's last legs.. So basically one day it won't go down or go back up. Pick up a new motor from a wrecker.. Problem solved :).

  • I have a 2000 chevy Cavalier. The driver side window goes down fine with no prob but when i try to put it up ,,,,,it goes abt an inch then stops.....if i turn the car off n turn it back on and try to put the window put .....again it will go abt an inch higher n stop. You think thts the motor? or sumthing else?

its power windows and passenger side works fine. Thanks

  • based on this info i would highly suspect the motor.. make sure the window is not getting caught or pinched by the rubber in the channel causing it to stick if it moves down freely i would say there is a very good chance its your motor or possibly a switch..

  • Great video,

I have a 97' Saturn SL2, the window is way off track,it will roll up to a certain point but will not go any further. I took the door panel off and noticed that when it rolled up the metal part of the door seems to expand outwards, how could I fix this???

  • not 100% what you mean by expanding the metal part of the door.. it sounds as if the regulator (if your not sure what that is its basically the frame work on the inside of the car that actually pushes up the glass and is attached to the motor.. is pushing against the door.. prolly means your window is off the track or is getting stuck.. you may need to free up the glass and reset it.. basically follow most of the steps from our video and reassemble it to see if that helps..

  • don't worry about tearing off the rubber channel just basically remove and reinstall the window in the track

  • I have a 1991 Honda prelude, and thanks to the rubber lining near the door mirror pinching and catching the front of the pane, the window is now waaaay off track.

I took my door panel off, but it looks like I have to completely dismember my door bolt for bolt, just to get the pane squeezed into the two tracks. Do I?

  • may have to have willie B chime in on this one but.. you should just need to unbolt the regulator from the window to allow it to move freely some times you need to be able to move the glass all the way to the bottom of the door where you have the most space to line it up in the track.. if the prelude is just like the accord there should be two bolts one on each side at the bottom of the glass which holds the glass on the regulator by removing these through the...

  • access holes you should be able to free up the window glass itself and line it back up in the track.. steps should be very similar to the video of our accord..

  • OK, I got to the track, saw an arm of the motor/regulator was bent a little, took it out, hammered it back into place.

put regulator back in, bolted pane back on, unbolted front channel, rotated it to slice onto pane

Now it rolls up normally to about 5 inches from close then falls off track again.

think maybe the rear channel is starting to warp off the door.

  • left a comment guess it didnt post.. the regulators are flexible at where they bolt to the window so make sure your channel is straight and lubricated.. what may be happening is the window gets close to the top and when it runs into pressure that bottom bar on the regulator that bolts to the glass pops off the bolts.. make sure it is lined up right and those bolts are tight all around.. hard to say without seeing it but that sounds like its the problem..

  • Hi, i have a 93 accord that looks just like this car, btw i'm in chicago its freezing out here so i pulled my power window down after i did that, it would not go back up, it was jerkin up and down as i kept pulling the up on down switch inside the car but it stopped workin all of a sudden! rest of the windows work besides the driver side, now would this be the Regulator? any suggestion will help Thanks

  • I did the same thing on another accord.. could possibly be that the window is off the track.. take off the door panel off and make sure its lined up in the channel properly.. it could have wedged itself in the track and gotten stuck.. BUT if you did what I did once and forced it too much you may have blown the motor.. and sometime cleaning it out can help but ususally means you will need to replace it.. Should run about $100 bucks unless you can get a used one

  • thanks for your reply,...ya so i did take out the window and most likely its the motor! and i found me a new motor with regulator for $37 dollars @ ebay! :) free shipping too life is good lol

  • not bad at all.. the install isn't too bad just make sure you test the window operation while the door panel is off to make sure it rolls up and down the track smoothly and doesn't wiggle or it could work itself out..

  • I'll try that as soon as i get that motor! thanks a lot bud!

  • could be a possibility or it could be that the regulator is moving to much and is not holding the window on track.. make sure it is well lubricated in the channel..

also make sure that the regulator is not flexing too much relative to the glass itself.. where it bolts to the glass the regulator can flex back and forth and front to back. so make sure its bolted to the glass in the right position tightly.

  • Great video. Thanks. I'm guessing I either have a track or motor problem.

What type of adhesive did you use to secure the window channel? I want to have as much on hand as possible once I open up the door. Thanks.

  • Honestly i cant remember off the top of my head what type it was.. it was similar to RTV a yellow rubbery silicone.. but that tube was dried out and we used a tire adhesive.. I believe there is a specific type of adhesive for window rubber, but anything that will stick with that type of rubber and be easy to apply should work just fine.

  • based on the fact that the power locks are not working on that door i would say it would be a wiring or fuse issue but id have to research more to see other things to test on that model..

  • mnd08exclusives..

hard to say with out seeing it in person but it sounds like it could be a wiring problem maybe in the window relay switch itself.. i would test the motor itself as well.. First check the fuses thats an easy test.. if they all look good i would make sure that your switches are functioning properly.. Not sure if the camry's are like this but some cars have a relay built into the switch.. my rx7 was like this and if that switch went bad nothing would work

  • ...........the main power windows controls on the driver do not work for the passenger side window, could it be a wiring problem, please help any suggestions will help, thanx

  • Good video....I have a 93 toyota camry, front passenger side window is not working, its stuck with the window down, I have power on the 3 doors except this one, my power locks are also not working only on this door, but the side mirror is working, what could possibly be the problem, could there be a separate fuse for just this window,

  • hopefully we'll have a chance to make some more vids soon!

  • wow. kickass video. thanks man.

  • you made it look so simple.Thankx for the video

  • great job will..
