  • just goy my pen back from the factory, it was there for a few weeks, they replaced the nib for a new one (i had to pay for it) but now the Marlen Saxophone writes as it should have done since the first day, it's awesome, smooth and precise, it is a whole new pen to me, i get a pleasurable feeling when writting with it now and i feel lucky to have this great and rare pen, as i am a sax fanatic i double cherish. :)

  • it could also be the ink being used...my visconti royal blue ink doesn't flow well in my pelikan m800, but most other inks do great in it.....my pilot pens like the vanishing point and the falcon don't work good with any of my inks besides noodler's black and noodler's american eel...there could be a bunch of factors...i hope its working for you now

  • Usually the nib needs to be "broken in" before it starts writing well. I hate the first few days of having a fountain pen because the pen writes dry and scratchy, etc. You need to clean out the nib well and let the ink soak in the pen when you first fill it...I also play with the tines on my cheaper pens (space them apart, make sure they're aligned, etc.)...that helps getting the ink to flow very nicely. I'd suggest having the guy at the pen shop do all that for you.

  • it's a shame because the pen is a really very good looking pen, the design is above average, quality seems to be high and the weight and balance are perfect. it could have been my favorite pen among my collection but i got disappointed.

  • no, the problem has not been solved, i took the pen twice to one of the "best" pen shops i know, (now i know this pen shop is a fraud), and the pen still has the same problem, i don't know what to do with my pen, i'm frustrated, i'm really upset, i complained directly to Marlen Italy, actually, before i was thinking about getting the whole music collection, meaning the Piano and Clarinet fountain pens but now, i guess i'm gonna avoid the brand.

  • Nice review, but no writing sample?! What's the problem with ink flow? Too dry? Skipping a lot? Marlen is very new italian brand. So, quality control problem can happen. Thanks to warn about the problem. I was thinking about get a Piston Fill Marlen. Now I'll search more marler reviews about this pen before purchase one.

    cheers,

    Fabricio

  • sorry but i had to take my new pen to the pen shop so they fix the problem with the ink flow, i'm dissapointed of the brand, i never thought i would have this problem with a brand new pen....i just compare with my other new pen, Montblanc 145. c'mon, ! this is a way better nib to write just out of the box.
