  • now mix it with aluminium powder, you would probably be dead from doing that

  • @nssurge Not true. There is not enough pressure built up around this deflagration to cause any concussive waves, and thus wouldn't produce enough of a shock wave to kill anyone.

The pressure from hand grenades is more lethal at 3 meters that this would be at 1 meter. This would be loud, and it would be bright, and it MIGHT produce a small shockwave if the temperature is low and the pressure in the air is high. But even then, it wouldn't carry the energy a hand grenade's shockwave would.

  • @slyscafe actually at a weight more than 50 grams I believe, flash powder does not need a container to cause a supersonic shock wave, so it can be very dangerous in large quantities, while it may not kill you it would certainly through to the floor

  • @nssurge True, partially because the powder around it that hasn't combusted acts as a container to it when it burns.

Floor you, yes, but it would not kill. It might cause a few burns, too. I've done 50 grams in a PVC pipe before, and it is powerful, yes, but it would be no substitute for a real, good ol' fashioned grenade.

  • @slyscafe nah obviously not, do you know if you can make flash powder from kn03 instead of perchlorate ??

  • @nssurge You can, and I did a demonstration in another one of my videos. Actually, did both chlorate and nitrate with magnesium (which I use as the base for my flash powders, rather than aluminum.

KNO3 is significantly weaker, though, because it chiefly doesn't donate as much oxygen in comparison with everything else. It's kind of one of those weird reactions where you end up with metal nitrides, and nitrous oxides.

  • I've done this a lot and it is really cool.

I have also made a fuse of it using a straw.

I do have some left of it but I am wondering if I should just throw it away, it's poisenes u know.

  • @dosowl While it is poisonous, it's not terribly toxic. I believe it's a 1 or 2 on harm to humans (out of 4), and they use chlorate to treat yeast infections. Humans can be around this stuff, just make sure to wash your hands.

  • I HAVE Potassium perchlorate and others chemicals (In EU) labchemo@gmail.com

  • @labchemo ...You have disproved every single thing I've heard about the EU with that one single post. If you wouldn't mind telling other people who are from Europe that you have these, that'd be great.

  • Nitroglycerin is an oil that may explode with heat, pressure or when it burns. It is extremely unstable, therefore dropping or bumping a container can also make it explode. -WIKIPEDIA

  • @danaownsall as i said, i'm too bored trying to explain everyone who reads my comment why it is safer. And PLEASE... dont use wikipedia as your reference.

  • @danaownsall Yeah. But you failed to see the point. The point was to handle everything as if it were the most unstable explosive in the world, and to handle everything with care. Not "THIS IS AS DANGEROUS AS NITROGLYCERIN LOLOLOLOL"

Seriously dude, read into the values behind what I say, rather than just the words themselves.

  • @slyscafe Was I even talking to u bitch? Was arguing with adriiPortillo, wait ur turn pussy

  • @danaownsall It's my fucking channel. I can do whatever the hell I want.

Also, learn to spell "you" and "your" properly. It makes you sound a lot smarter, and with such a short reply, it's not you can use the excuse "oh, I was just running out of space."

Lastly, don't forget to include personal pronouns with your auxiliary verbs.

I shall follow this message up with your own reply, but with proper grammar and punctuation.

  • @danaownsall "Was I even talking to u bitch? Was arguing with adriiPortillo, wait ur turn pussy"

    Should be:

"Was I even talking to [yo]u, bitch? [I] was arguing with adriiPortillo. Wait [yo]ur turn, pussy."

  • @danaownsall yay grammar police! I sense a true faggot in our midst

  • @danaownsall OWNED!

  • lots of resideu's, you might want it a liltle hotter i suppose.

red iron oxide would greatly help or granulate the mix :)

    like cold cooking ;)

i the tests, ever treid bp greenmix + perchlorate ? it can make it lots of times faster.

    cheers

  • That's an interesting mix. I'll have to try that.

  • What would you estimate the heat of combustion of this mixture to be?

  • @TylerFknMetal

Hot enough to ignite thermite. I want to say around 2500 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • @slyscafe

Reliably? That would be really really sweet lol

  • @TylerFknMetal

Yeah. If you mix the sugar and chlorate together, and add sulfuric acid to it, it'll ignite the therminte.

  • where do you get Potassium Perchlorate

plz get back to me asap

  • You cannot buy it in any store to my knowledge. The only places you can get it is on the internet (United Nuclear or Thunder Valley are really good places). Potassium Chlorate is almost as good, not restricted, and a little bit cheaper.

  • what is 5:2parts in %?

  • @12gaugewolf

    5/7

    2/7

  • can a mix of kclo4 and sugar ever be dangerous? will it ever explode?

  • I have yet to test friction, pressure, and sparks.

My advice: Use common sense when handling it. I once heard a quote "Handle everything as if you are handling nitroglycerin." I have never had an accidental discharge in the past 3 years or so.

It can be quite dangerous, but it will not ignite without warning.

  • allright Thnx!

  • @slyscafe Nitroglycerin is way safer than perchlorate flash powder. On the other hand, perchlorates are good in rockets but using non water soluble fuels, sugar is not a good choice...... give it a try with liquid silicone and some alluminium powder, i have achived up to 1cm per second burnrate.

  • @adriiPortillo Dude...the point of the anecdote was handle EVERYTHING with care.

As for the rocket fuel idea, thanks! :)

  • @adriiPortillo Where do you get your facts from?

Nitroglycerin is NOT way safer then perchlorate flash powders.

Even if a flash powder had a chlorate in it, it's still safer then Nitroglycerin.

  • Where do i get my facts? PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. have you ever maded nitro ? do you know what nitroglycerine is?

  • @adriiPortillo Nitroglycerin is 10x more unstable than most of these pyrotechnic mixes or rocket fuels. awful rocket fuel, dont mess with that shit

  • I'm too bored of trying to explain everyone who watches this video why perhclorate flash is unsafer. Just read around. You'll find out why.

  • @adriiPortillo I've been working with ammonium perchlorate for about a year in my work with rockets and ive never had a problem with it saftey wise. That being said, im not going anywhere near nitroglycerin...

  • If you are desperate for smoke, why not add a small quantity of metal or metal oxide? ZnO would do nicely.

If not Naphthalene (moth balls are almost pure) will give a lovely black, choking cloud.

  • This was meant to be a rocket fuel, not a smoke bomb.

  • Apologies. In your other vids you mentioned smoke a lot, I thought perhaps, that was your goal.

  • Haha yeah, I can understand where you're coming from. At least you watched my other videos before commenting! Some of my viewers don't even have that common courtesy to view my videos before they post.

Thankfully, not all viewers are like that.

  • Sorry for any confusion, tchynerd was my bro logged onto my computer, so don't be confused. That was actually me.

  • Sorry about any confusion. Tchynerd was actually me, my bro just forgot to sign out of his account on my computer.

  • Neat...

  • next time maybe a AP haha :P nice 5*

  • This was so cool! Works great! Thanks for the great video! If you need potassium perchlorate for this experiment and you are over 18, get in touch with me. geokohler (at) gmail I have a lil leftover from a rocket engine experiment.

  • rocket candy can be made from potassium perchlorate? never seen one fliying here in youtube.

  • Not rocket candy, I make solid rocket fuel. I'm not much on videotaping anything that could potentially be offered as state exhibit A. LMAO Almost any oxidizer can be mixed with a fuel and be used as a propellant.

  • i'd like to give it a try, just wondering about safety.... you know, i like my fingers where they are....

Then again, solid rocekt fuel maded from recaramelization from perchlorate and glucose (dextrose) can be made? im finding out....

  • What else can you do with potassium perchlorate? I got a bunch that I wanna use other then making flash powder because that never works for me.

  • you gotta be kidding me lol flash powder is easy to make. 7:3 weight ratio of potassium perchlorate to aluminum powder and bang! haha i make kickass firecrackers all the time out of that stuff.

  • Can I ask a question, Where do you get your potassium perchlorate?, I only have potassium nitrate.

  • I got it from some company online. I believe they were called Thundervalley, but I could be wrong.

  • do they deliver to australia i cant find any info

  • potassium nitrate works just as well. they're both oxidizers

  • no it doesn't

  • Go back to chemistry son. They both work, KClO4 is just more powerful than KN03

  • it doesn't work as well. i have them both at y house

  • yes it does look at the first vid on my page thats potassium nitrate and sugar

  • does the stump remover you buy at the store work out of the box or do you have to do anything to it

  • :O you! you wasted kclo4 with SUGAR!

  • Define "waste". It was quite awesome, if you ask me (and don't say, you could have used aluminum with that, because I already tried that).

  • cuz you can get about the same thing with kno3 and aluminium wont do shit you need dark pyro aluminium and you couldve used that to start a thermite reaction (yes it does get that hot)

  • Right, which would have been next to impossible to get since most places will red-flag you for trying to order it on your first purchase. Not to mention that it's twice as expensive as perchlorate it.

I don't have thermite around my house either. I give you my deepest appologies for using my chemicals the way I wished to use them. Do you forgive me?

  • well there are places to get it other then skylighter which im guessing you are and if youve got aluminium im sure you can go by some iron oxide for thermite

i accept your apoligies ;) lol.. no offense man just saying

  • Ya I know, no waste at all. Really good test!

  • Perhaps its just the video quality but the residue appeared very white, which suggests too much oxidizer in the composition (as i say, could just be the video!) Also a similar effect can be achieved with Sodium Chlorate, which is rather cheaper and easier to get ahold of (but a little less reactive)... Good vid though :D

  • I thought that white residue was Potassium Chloride.

  • sodium chlorate is hygroscopic though...but if you had some potassium chloride handy that would be good.

  • nice one!

  • I heard this was explosive when contained. Have you tried it in a rocket?

  • Unfortunately no. I only had a small amount with which to work.

  • if you compessed that in a piece of gass pipe with caps that would be a good fish finder. lol

  • You probably used atomized aluminium it needs to be flaked Al to make flash...

  • Bit of a waste of perch - KP or flash tbh! :D

  • Not necessarily. I tried doing it with aluminum powder, but I guess I got the wrong type of aluminum, and I was curious to see what would happen if I did do a perchlorate "smoke" recipe.

  • where did u get the potassium Perchlorate

  • I think it was either from Ebay or a private dealer on the internet. I honestly don't remember.

  • I'll get around to that.

  • What about OUR videos? I THOUGHT WE HAD SOMETHING TOGETHER!
