  • Excellent teacher. Although I know the alphabet, I always learn something new from each teacher. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us students.

  • thanks great help and the very first step in to hebrew

  • Why do so few Jews know that in Hebrew alah means curse?Zechariah warns of a curse(alah)spreading over the Earth.

  • Thank you, I enjoyed this very much as I'm planning to go to Israel next year.

  • @108jperdue Did you end up going to Israel? :) Do tell.

  • @daregularperson yes i did thank you! i'm here in Haifa right now :) unfortunately my trip ends in May

  • very interesting - are the thicknesses of the characters important or the shapes?

  • @mousehound35 : It's mostly the shapes. In some fonts, all the lines are the same thickness, but the letters would definitely look odd if the verticals were thick and the horizontals narrow! The font I used in the middle and along the top is similar to what you will see in most siddurs (prayer books) and Bibles, but I circled each letter in a variety of fonts so you can see the range of acceptable variations and get a feel for what makes an Alef an Alef.

Part II should be up tonight!

  • I hope to have Part 2 ready soon, but this is a very busy time of year!

  • Looking forward to Part II ?!!

  • So helpful - so glad I found this, thanks!

  • Thanks, this is helping me in my Hebrew class.

  • Great to be able to understand Hebrew thank you .

  • Thanks, it's a great vid! Great presentation and very easy to follow. The word examples given are an excellent way to learn the letters. Hoping to see the part 2 in Youtube soon!
