@thebassguitarist1 yeah I think I shoot better with the beretta because the trigger is lighter and I jerk the gun when I shoot the Glock . I put a 3.5 lb trigger kit in the Glock and I found out that it had the ny1 trigger spring in it. Which is an 8lb trigger!! So I'm hitting the range this weekend to see how 5lbs off my trigger helps with accuracy... I'm willing to bet ill be up to snuff with my beretta
I've got one of these. I want to dislike it because of the size to caliber ratio, but I just can't. The damn thing shoots so well and it's so reliable and accurate that I just can't help but fall in love with it every time I pull the trigger.
I have a Glock 23.. And I just bought one of these beauties the other day... I shoot way more accurate with the beretta.. I think cause the trigger is lighter/longer barrel.I love shooting my Glock though. I think I want to try a 3.5 lb trigger see if that helps. Cause I shoot low and to the left with the Glock and I could take your eye out with the beretta... Bolth great guns I will never part with
Here's a question. Since a new gun needs a little breaking in, wouldn't it be best to not use lubricant so the metal can wear in? If lubricated, how can the metal to metal contact points be leveled out? Is there such a thing as a light break in oil?
Generally speaking the 17 round mags are Pre-ban (pre clinton administration) and are made by Beretta. Sometme, however you will encounter an off brand 17 cap. mag.
As far as Glock goes, I suppose any gun that goes bang everytime you pull the trigger is better than one that doesn't. I absolutely can't stand the Glock trigger and the fact that it doesn't have a safety. And please don't argue the fact that it has that ridiculous thing on the trigger that is suppose to be some kind of a safety.. And in general it looks ugly. But that is my personal preferance :-)
I think in all circumstances it comes down to personal preference. I carried an M9/92Fs for 20 years and I qualified expert the first time I picked it up in the Marine Corps. I did on several occasions shoot perfect scores with it. I like the double/single action trigger and I love the mechanical safety that rotates the firing pin away from the hammer while decocking the hammer.
@1023EMT also if you were in infantry did you have ear plugs in on deployments? Just wondering because you would have a lot of trouble hearing orders when your ears are ringing.
I think I'm addicted to your youtube channel! You're a very good speaker, and knowledgeable. It's fun to your excitement, even though I'm sure you've fired tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of rounds. Keep up the good work!
There is simply something to be said for a pistol with ahighway mechanical engaged safety, and of course the all metal frame. Glocks are fine pistols, but not the end all tactical god they are so often portrayed as. They are simply one of very many fine pistols on the market today, but I will never feel comfortable with the fact that it doesn't actually have the capability to be made truly safe in some fashion once chambered. This unfortunately trend is something I would like to see change
I've got small hands, I'm 5'6'' and 130 lbs but the beretta is godlike in my opinion to the glocks. I've never personally liked the feel of a glock while shooting it, but the beretta is always comfy for me. I'm also a lot more accurate with it. I can understand why you would favor the glock over the beretta in competition shooting, though. At the range it's not a problem, so I'm sure it won't be if the time comes to defend myself.
Beretta pistols are actually great, but you have to watch out and replace the spring if it gets worn down. My personal beretta never had that problem but the one i had in the army had a bad spring, once i made the lazy ass armorer change the spring i never had a problem again. Look at my background picture in my channel im actually holding it.
@hickok45 You always say you have difficulty with the DA/SA trigger but the results would seem to argue the opposite :). Course it's hard to judge what works best for you watching this in my easy chair, but it seems that once you get in the swing of things it works fine. I can certainly agree that going back and forth between trigger systems can be a big pain.
Awesome vid... You have a great shot too man. Heading to gander mountain right now to pick up my 96fs. Can't wait. Damn Christmas lines are gonna be brutal...
are those higher capacity magazines a little longer or do they have less spring in them? Just curious how one Beretta mag can hold 15 and the other 17.
@Jake93r17 I can't decide whether to at the 92 fs or the Taurus pt92 myself, that's Y i'm in this vid. LOL... I'm hoping that hickok45 would help me choose.
@ThanhCuTi I would choose the Beretta. Personally, I chose CZ 75B, but the Beretta would be my second choice. There is a reason why the U.S. military chose the Beretta for there side arm. It's reliable as hell, and kicks ass, but in the end, you should choose whatever is comfortable to you.
I'm learning to shoot the 92fs b/c i'm joining the Navy and want to be able to shoot expert on my pistol qual. I'm having fits with the length of the trigger pull and tend to start pushing low if I dont really take my time. Was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers. I learned on a 1911 Series 70 Gold Cup so i'm used to very short very crisp trigger pulls. HELP!!
1.53 jingle bells! Hickok, keep up the good work mate, love your vids! And for all those winging about hickok making comparisons to the Glock? He owns both, so of course he's going to compare them! Just remember its just hickoks opinion, he's not telling anyone not to buy one! Lighten up people....
this reminds me of when I asked why the military uses the beretta M9, and stated my opinion that I think it is rather large for a 9MM- and everyone started flaming me. Hell, I just wanted to know why they chose it, I wasn't trying to start a heated debate
@MeLlamoBradly: Because yes, it's large, but it's also robust and reliable. The added weight helps with recoil too. Plus, while yes it's large, most any gun with a long barrel is going to be large, so while they COULD go with smaller guns, those guns would have short (and therefor less accurate) barrels.
@hickok45 Its funny cause for me its a selling point, I have always preferred larger full size weapons. I find the 92FS feels great when you hold it. It's got that large 45 Cal sized ejection port to cut down feed jams. It just feels like a duty weapon.
With a Beretta 92FS (The most beautiful weapon ever) and a AK47 I was satisfied! =D But here in Portugal we can´t have potent weapons, just 6.35mm and gauge 12,24,36 (9mm or 12mm or 14mm just in shotguns) >.<
Nice Vid! I own a Beretta 92 FS too, and it´s the best pistol for left-handed like me! Safety on both sides, and you can mount the magazin-button on the other side if you want! I go to shooting-competitions here in germany, and I wouldn´t change it for a Glock, even not for money! I hate that " plastic-pistols"! The Beretta 92FS is a real classic, and real classics never dies! Thank you for posting!
@TDONLEY91 actually i've had quite a few, glocks included, and my Beretta 92 has the nicest fit & finish out of any of the pistols i've had besides my Hungarian PA-63, that locks up like a fine swiss watch
@hickok45 Thank you sir for your feedback. I have nothing against modification so you can "get used to it"
: - ) But Barettas have their own individual "personality" apart from any other gun. I've fired it less than you have which makes you more an expert and a pro GUN guro and I've always enjoyed your video here. Nevertheless, i prefer the 1911's GI's or better or the ones used in the Pacific theater.
Thanks again and more "knock down" power on your shows sir.!!!
hickok45, I like both the 9mm and s and w .40 cartridge. I would prefer the .40 as long as there is little or no difference in accuracy. Is the shooter the main variable when considering these calibers for shots up to 60 or 70 yards? Thanks
guys caliber really depends on application, if you want to drop someone cause your in danger i personally want a .45, .400 at minimum, but 9mm has a much higher velocity so it will drop less at range therefore some people preffer it
mid south shooter supply in clarksville tn has 147 grain fmj rounds 11.88 per 50 round box. i spoke with the guy there and he said you can place your order and pick it up in about 3 hours if you close by
I have been watching your channel for awhile now, recently I subscribed oi was just wondering sir if u have or will be shooting the beretta px4 storm in .40 caliber If so what was your take on the pistol. If you have a vid up, allready i havent seen it and id likean honest and fair oppion on it asim looking to purchase a sidearm to compliment my benelli for home defense. Thank you, and great shooting as always !
@cosmicdingo on the other video he said its not bad. i dont know where he got that info but from most things i have read personaly on newer model pistols it seems not to be an issue.
JM: All these large caliber pistols are center-fire cartridges, aren't they? So my question is, if the firing pin only hits open air when there is no bullet in the chamber, what does it hurt to dry fire?....other than it's a bad safety practice. I've heard that it's bad to dry fire a rim-fire, of course.....but why a center-fire?
@JetMechMA its something about the firing mechanism. its the same thing i guess as when u punch full power and miss; its bad for your elbow. But with new guns the design is supposed to mostly eliminate that. I cant give you an exact reason why it is bad for the 1911 but I know alot of people that own them and they have had alot of them sent to the gun smith and even the gunsmith says its bad. so i dont so it, its allways gonna happen but try to avoid it.
The reason the M9 was adopted as the U.S. military side arm was because in the early 1980's the Italians were trying to kick us out of our U.S. Air Force base at Aviano. As a compromise someone in the higher ups of the Government chose to adopt the Beretta M9, a Italian made side arm , as the standard side arm of over 1 million U.S. Troops. This is just a one example of how money runs our country. The m9 was chosen not necessarily because it was the best choice, but for purely Military strategy.
with the right rounds the m92 is a good gun, but its not a relaible handgun there has been to many reports of stoppages and james inherrant to the design itself
Not kissing ass, but Hickok is a natural narrator.Mebbe he should work for Discovery channel. Also, what load for self defense you u recommend for 9mm?
@hickok45 I own & carry at times the Beretta 92 SB fullsize, Which this model the SB is no longer made by Beretta but it's the same gun as the FS except with a rounded trigger guard, It hols 15 + one in the pipe, A great SD gun when the right 9mm ammo is used with it.
@hickok45 I own a glock 26 and a glock 19 as well as a 92FS and I must say that from the day I bought my 92, out of the box it was much more accurate than either of my Glocks. Maybe it's just my shooting style and the ergonomics of the gun are causing me to be more accurate with it, but the beretta is usually always more accurate for me.
@hickok45 Maybe it's about the sights: Glocks' sights are a bit larger i think, with wider diameter dots. While Beretta-s have some very fine sights, that are easier to position over long-range objects. At least I find it easier to take aim precisely where i want with a Beretta, rather than Glock.
That's very opinionated. Like hickok said, some people may shoot Beretta better, but that's just them. Many people say that Glocks are some of the most accurate stock/out-of-the-box guns they've ever used. Doesn't matter either way with practice.
hey hickok45 you should check out the promag 32 round magazine for the 92fs I'm told they work great you can get a pair at cabela's for 54.99

haha you can hear a bunch of gunshots in the background coming from different distances. 5 people within a mile or two shooting. gotta love the USA

hickok45, I like both the 9mm and s and w .40 cartridge. I would prefer the .40 as long as there is little or no difference in accuracy. Is the shooter the main variable when considering these calibers for shots up to 60 or 70 yards? Thanks

You seriously could win Top Shot

dajhrm 9 months ago
guys caliber really depends on application, if you want to drop someone cause your in danger i personally want a .45, .400 at minimum, but 9mm has a much higher velocity so it will drop less at range therefore some people preffer it

How bad is it for the 92 to dry fire?
cosmicdingo 10 months ago
@cosmicdingo on the other video he said its not bad. i dont know where he got that info but from most things i have read personaly on newer model pistols it seems not to be an issue.
I wouldnt dry fire 1911's
bobwatters 10 months ago
@bobwatters: I wouldnt dry fire 1911's
JetMechMA 9 months ago
@JetMechMA its something about the firing mechanism. its the same thing i guess as when u punch full power and miss; its bad for your elbow. But with new guns the design is supposed to mostly eliminate that. I cant give you an exact reason why it is bad for the 1911 but I know alot of people that own them and they have had alot of them sent to the gun smith and even the gunsmith says its bad. so i dont so it, its allways gonna happen but try to avoid it.
bobwatters 9 months ago
@bobwatters OK then. Thanks.

@JetMechMA no problem sry i couldnt be more help just dont have time to look more into it at the moment lol.

I was wondering if you could do a review on a Taurus PT100....
rishov11 10 months ago
in general, it depends but the beretta is more accurate than glock. i think it has something to do with the 5" barrel.
carnut476 10 months ago
have you ever had a cz 75 pistol

killa2006 1 year ago
@killa2006 I'd say glock, coz nowadays you see them in all films but this gun is also very very common
juanmancilla96 11 months ago
@juanmancilla96 you see more beretta's in movies. hollywood loves the 92. (and the deagles of course lol)

The m9 was chosen not necessarily because it was the best choice, but for purely Military strategy.
gamersteve1940 1 year ago
with the right rounds the m92 is a good gun, but its not a relaible handgun there has been to many reports of stoppages and james inherrant to the design itself
deepwoodskentuckian 1 year ago
all guns are accurate up to so far there is no such thing as an inaccurate firearm i cant stress that enough...

Hickok! would you make a video using the 92fs with a suppressor?
zillobert 1 year ago
yes beretta came out with 17rd mags for the 90-Two that can be interchanged with the 15 and 10 round mags of the 92FS
masterofnotmuch 1 year ago
Not kissing ass, but Hickok is a natural narrator.Mebbe he should work for Discovery channel. Also, what load for self defense you u recommend for 9mm?
cosmicdingo 1 year ago
the pig which got shot doesnt like this ;)
donttalktome951 1 year ago
berettas way more accurate at longer ranges than the glock. thats why its just that much better than a glock
xXxjoemanxXx 1 year ago
@xXxjoemanxXx , No difference in accuracy between these guns. Could be a difference in how some people shoot them, of course.
hickok45 1 year ago 46
@hickok45 I own & carry at times the Beretta 92 SB fullsize, Which this model the SB is no longer made by Beretta but it's the same gun as the FS except with a rounded trigger guard, It hols 15 + one in the pipe, A great SD gun when the right 9mm ammo is used with it.
MyREDTAIL 1 year ago
@hickok45 I own a glock 26 and a glock 19 as well as a 92FS and I must say that from the day I bought my 92, out of the box it was much more accurate than either of my Glocks. Maybe it's just my shooting style and the ergonomics of the gun are causing me to be more accurate with it, but the beretta is usually always more accurate for me.
AdoreYouInAshXI 9 months ago
@hickok45 the 1911 is more better than the beretta 92 fs?
gaby2759 8 months ago
@gaby2759 nop, the Beretta is the best ! :D
sjoen505 7 months ago
@hickok45 Maybe it's about the sights: Glocks' sights are a bit larger i think, with wider diameter dots. While Beretta-s have some very fine sights, that are easier to position over long-range objects. At least I find it easier to take aim precisely where i want with a Beretta, rather than Glock.
BrainStirmKZ 8 months ago
@xXxjoemanxXx
That's very opinionated. Like hickok said, some people may shoot Beretta better, but that's just them. Many people say that Glocks are some of the most accurate stock/out-of-the-box guns they've ever used. Doesn't matter either way with practice.
