  • i was born on camp lejeune and didn't even get special mutant powers. just a malformed cock : (

  • the fucking water still is shite

  • I couldn't care less about the toxins, the water TASTES like complete shit. Atleast if it tasted good i wouldnt care too much but the taste literally makes me sick to my stomach.

  • semper fi

  • i lived there in 1996 during hurricane bertha; i had no idea. maybe i should get myself tested. (i'm not making light of the travesty)

  • The water is still tainted. Camp Lejuene has the highest lead content in their water in our country. They also poison is with Hexavalent chromium and a number of other things. Welding residue is a noteable one. Many many things they have known about for decades. The command and the politicians behind them are cowardice morons. They won't even fess up to it. Problem still persists.

  • Was the water in Jacksonville tainted also?

  • I don't think so but I might be wrong. I was there between the years of 1982-1984 I wanted to know if anyone from Georgia was there and are effected by this story?

  • did you live in tarawa terrace?

  • no i was in French Creek.

  • No I was at Mainside and French Creek, but I think something was wrong with that water also. That's how the military treats its soldiers

  • Well man, mainside and all that on-base houseing to the left as you go off mainside, is definatley the closest place to that spot where that cleaner was. good ole lejune Blvd . Was nothing but strip bars, pawn shops and dry cleaners. still proud to be a Marine though. If they knew they should be charged. Lot of good people went through there

  • the tainted water was in the tarawa terrace area. if you lived on base you weren't close to the place. Mainside, Courthouse bay, Johnston, Geiger, Onslow Beach, your water was different, and not near that dry cleaner

  • I lived near the northwoods elementry school for about 7-8 years ( in the 90's)and then on base for about 2 years (late 90's to early 2001)

  • i was there in 86, 88-89. It was a big deal then and it was being rectified. I think you have nothing to worry about but you never know. the water sucked all over base. I was mainly at Courthouse Bay and Onslow before they moved Recon over to The Bay. It's been a long time man.

  • Couldn't of said it better Katie!

  • Now that P***ES me off my husbabd and I lived down there from 1999-until 2006 my 2 youngest children were raised there they drank thewater the swam in that water...

  • Another unmentioned source of dry cleaning solvent was the base itself.

We used a solvent that came out of 55 gallon drums which was called dry cleaning solvent. It was used to degrease our self propelled artillery. It worked great.

We did not receive any special handling instructions or protective gear. We used fire houses to wash it all away when we were done scrubbing. In 1979 it became no longer available. No reason given.

I got leukemia and the Corps seems to have amnesia.

  • My husband was stationed at Camp Lejuene for 2 years and was exposed to high levels of Benzene.

My husband now has LEUKEMIA, thanks USMC.

Why did it take several years before they shut down the toxic wells???

How many Marines drank, bathed and ate all those toxins?

  • Marines are expendable govt assets along with their families. C'mon folks wake up!!! The only person that cares about your well being is you.

  • I was stationed there in 1985 to 1989...the last 10years etc.......this may not be related but you never know...their saying the contamination was only at base housing or was the whole base?????

  • Camp Lejeune is pronounced LE JERN. The Lejeune (praonounced Le Jern) have lived in Lousiana for 100s of years and pronounce it LE JERN - check Wickapedia.

  • Drinking water - good drinking water is a right every American should receive - especaily our marines , who give so much to our country!

    Amen,

    P T Brent

& i Katie we love you however it is pronounced luh jern Katie show respect

  • WTF!! I'm glad i only drank beer while i was there

  • @banhmiso1 im glad to have lived "off base" in an apartment with my wife , but chances are during our training iI probably drank some of that "tainted" water, only time will tell if i get sick

  • I knew that. When I was in 2nd grade I got sick from that water! I'm only 10. Stupid government. My dad and little siblings who are younger than me could've gotten sick too!

  • I was fuckin stationed there for 4 and a half years. What the fuck?! Hope I dont grow a third eye.

  • currently stationed at Lejeune but have yet to live on base. will be on base when i am not pregnant and living in Colorado with family while my husband is deployed. Supposedly they took care of the water issue. We knew about the possibility before we even got there. Do research on the base so you aren't so shocked. We plan on buying bottled water anyway. Tastes better than NC water. Been in NC for a year and now i get a reprieve from ugly Jacksonville. back too soon for me though.

  • That's just WRONG!!!!!

  • wtf i live there NOW!

  • i used to live in Camp Lejeune, when i heard about his i was like omg we made tea lemonade and rinsed cups with that water, but you know i never got sick but still they should fix that if they havent.

  • no body gives a fuck about us, just go fight in wars and keep my bitch ass kids safe while they go to college. Fuck the USMC!

  • I was there in (aug.76-jan.77) and worked at the clerk school. They taught typing...does anyone know were this school was located in relation to the toxic wells. I was in a holding co. for marines that did not have enough time left in service to warrent being sent to a regular unit. I dont remember the barracks location if it was near (hadnot pt.) or (tarawa terrace)can anyone help me? note I have been ill and disabled since 1986 and just found out about the water at Camp Lejeune. thanks

  • 'Course, in typical Catie Couric and Left Wing Media fashion, no details are given.

As I understand it, the water at New River Air Station has been contaminated, for decades, in fact the Corps gave/paid for bottled water for/to folks in base housing. Now, how this relates with Geiger, Johnson, and the rest, I don't know.

When I was on main side (1990's), the water was deemed safe, but who knows by what standards. NC was doing a poor job of keeping pig shit out of the water, so who knows.

  • i was stationed at Camp Lejjeune from 87-90 and was diagnosed with service connected Parkinson's disease in 2000 after 22 years of service. I received compensation but never an apology,

  • why they say fight for their country?

  • Mission first, troops second, dependants last.

  • I was born at Lejeune in 68. We lived in TT on Haggaru. I was diagnosed with male breast cancer at the age of 39. I do not carry the heriditary BRCA markers and the disease is nowhere else in my family. I would like to see Ms. Couric follow up on her "rage" at what has happened. The Marines have yet to notify the families. Please see our website The few The Proud The Forgotten.

  • My husband was stationed there from 1979-1982. He lost two daughters and has kidney and lung disease now.

  • OMG i use to live in CL
