Fighting and name-calling is not okay. If you wanna bash, don't do it on my channel, I wanna keep it bash-free.
Sweet Jesus, what point does this senseless fighting have? I love both Irish and Polish song equally and everyone is approved to have his opinion, but in a polite and meaningful way! What happened, happened, Ireland won and Poland got a great 2nd place!
@UFCPoland never said anything bad about poland dude.i just didnt like the song.i just dont see why everyone cant except that poland didnt win.poland came second and thats still something to be proud of. we came first and if we didnt win i doubt very much that i wud be crying about it years later..thaqts a crazy statement to say i dont like polish people.i mean theres a lot of polish in ireland.i even became friendly wit lots of polish..take care
I have to say this is my favourite of all of Ireland's winning entries. Hate when people say they didn't deserve to win. They got the votes so they obviously did. What a song... could listen to it all day.
@mordercas edyta who? i mean why bother trolling about poland shud have won cuz they didnt. go to edytas song and marvel about how great she is. as far as edyta making a great career gud for her. people shud stop crying about her song.if ye like her song then good for you. as far as us screaming when we got 12 points thats cuz we deserved it.get over it!! GO ON IRELAND!!
im not sure if you ever had a little piece of soul if you were not impressed of polish performance but i guess you are just narrow minded kid, that's all you are. Peace !
@frankeeg83 "Of course"; interesting choice of words. Could it be that people have different tastes than you, that 1994 had so many great songs that the host country winning again just felt frustrating, and that maybe, just maybe, the best Eurovision song ever (or second best in this case) is such a subjective thing. Name-calling isn't going to convert anyone to your opinion. I'm in a good mood today, so I won't ban you.
Germany should have won. Ireland was so boring, as it was in 1992, 1993 and 1996. I want to know how much the juries were paid for voting for Ireland those years
no, i think ireland did deserve it, it was really beautiful, and poland aswell was really good, but when it came down to the votes we won it.... but i hope your all happy now because due to the 'block' voting, its nearly made our chances of winning ever again IMPOSSIBLE... thanks..
@86artist Or they might, you know, have different tastes than you. Name-calling isn't going to attract anyone to your cause. I think highly of both songs, but I would have preferred Poland to win.
@setheurovision94 name calling? us irish are proud of this fine classic..yeah your right people have different tastes but why do people try to take away from irelands glory by crying about poland not winning.anyway thanksfor the upload!!!
I still can't believe Ireland won with that song, and by such a huge margin. I didn't even watch at the time. Like most people I assumed that Ireland had deliberately chosen a weak song so that we wouldn't have to host the Eurovision 3 years in a row. I was in a restaurant in Killarney with a bunch of people, and the waitress came up to us and said "Ireland's after winning again." We were all shocked. It was like the Eurovision had become an albatross around our necks. Hungary should have won.
@deathray32 I agree. Personally, I would've been happy if either Poland or Hungary had won (or even my favourite, the UK, who were very underrated that night). It was just beginning to feel like a joke, and Ireland's song didn't strike any of us watching as the winner. I can still hear my dad cursing "No!" when Ireland got 12 after 12. But that's the way it goes.
@ferretmanboy I am the one who hates the polish song and also thinks Ireland should not have won (it was not a bad song it was not the best one)! Period!
The funniest thing is that Poland hasn't had ANY progress since 1994 at Eurovision Song Contest... Such a disgrace! It's now more than 16 years already and no progress.
@inspireradavstatyer And I will block you from my channel if I catch you writing more comments of this nature. If you can't deal with such "elements" as other peoples' opnion, you have no business on a comments board. Hey, I don't always agree with him either but grow up about it.
@inspireradavstatyer Call a doctor! This is just music ... not the death of anyone close to you. Put ur uself together and stop nagging on nothing that is not relevant. Jesus ...
It's not that I don't like the Irish song it was one of the 5 best songs for me at least but in overall the victory was too much with no clear reason hard to believe that most of the juries really liked it to be the best. Hungary on the other hand was the song that convienced me the most and it's a pity it lost to 4th. Poland did not deserve the 2nd place It was not among the 5 best ones. I said it.
@harpie91 You should be proud of being Polish regardless any contest and competition. Edyta Gorniak is a singer she defended her song in the competition but didn't make Poland prove to a better country than any other. That is not the main goal of this. People use eurovision and soccer competitions to try to make their national egos better and prove that their coutry is better than the others. What a shameful approach! Love being who you are in all circumstances and not only in competitions.
@davogrady This became probably the moment where the whole Europe began losing interess in Eurovision ... not because the songs were bad ... but more because Ireland was ruining it by winning too many times.
@Fabian81 I'm afraid you're right. Especially since the standard of songs was quite high that year. Actually, all the Eurovisions in Ireland in the 90s were strong contests (as well as the one in Norway in '96).
@setheurovision94 I disagree on that but based on my musical choices: Ireland in 1992 was okey but in 1993 and 1994 seriously was a huge mistake. First I never liked Niahm's song until this very day even I think her 2010 entry is millions superior to that song but in 2010 Eurovision has changed dramaticaaly. I also loved the 1996 but nothing absolutely nothing sounded as powerful and moving as Evighet by Elisabeth. That should have won :(
@setheurovision94 I dont see how anyone could say "Ireland was ruining" ESC - after all it wasnt we who persistently voted for Irish songs - it was you the rest of Europe. If Fabian81's logic is applied why didnt Europe take action, but even allowed Ireland another victory 2 years later. Seth as you know Rock n Roll Kids wouldnt have been my choice as winner in 94 - for the record.
@PaulRay462 could it be, but there's one fact which is very important. She sung the second part of the song in english on the second attempt before the live show and the half of the jurors has disqualified her in the voting after that.
hand on heart, im irish , but im promise you im not being biased when i say that, rockin roll kids, is by far and away the nicest and greatest eurovision song ever. and the scoreboard reflected this, with the biggest winning margin by any song ever!!. such a lovely song.
Afraid to have to correct you, the UK won by 10 more points in 1997, and Norway beat all records no matter how you calculate them this year. And any way, the "nicest and greatest eurovision song ever" is such a subjective thing. The scores don't always reflect a song's quality. After all, haven't tosh songs been very popular on the radio? Not to say that Rock 'n' Roll Kids isn't a good song, but I think it's ridiculous that it won - and by such a margin - in this strong year.
Everyone has a right to his/her opinion (or to support his/her country's entry, as is the case here). Both songs were very good, but personally I think Poland would have made a worthier winner.
@setheurovision94 Not for me. Poland did not have one the best songs. Edyta on the other hand is a hell of a great singer. I trully prefered everything she did after this than this song that has no emotion to me. Norway, Cyprus, Portugal, Germany and Hungary really had better songs for me. I hear them and I either get a great vibe or emotional goosebumps. Not with Poland.
@innadla UK song was not boring ... hold on there ... just didn't work well on stage performed live from what I saw already a couple of times. The studio recorded versions sounded so much better. That meant that sometimes certain songs just didn't fit Eurovision when tried to be performed live. They are good but for radio or any other context but not ESC.
i'm sorry but Poland was much much better! edyta gorniak is great polish singer, and those 2 singers could know that! people pls be honest and admire to that! it was one of the biggest errors in eurovision's history!
"Even Portugal"...? What do you mean? The 90's were quite a reasonable decade for us...! Don't judge us only for the last 10 miserable years. Specially because it's been miserable for everyone. Since 2000 the quality of the songs nearly vanished, with some memorable exceptions.
Pensei que fosses um estrangeiro a criticar Portugal (porque no que respeita ao ESC está na moda). De resto, o meu problema não é nenhum e não precisas de falar assim.
@XaviTheKid whether they deserved to win or not, that's beside the point... this was not a football match... it was an international song contest.... and the reason Ireland won was because the rest of Europe, except Greece, voted that way and gave Ireland points ... at least the national juries did, that is... and remember, no one country is allowed to vote for itself in Eurovision...having said that... it would be nice to see a country that has never won before win next.. like Portugal!
Just because a song wins, even by a lead, it doesn't mean it's necessarily better than the other songs. I wouldn't set a song's quality by its scoring. In this strong year, I think it was ridiculous that Ireland won by such a lead; they were good, but not THAT great!
Sure its all politics. Look at the songs that win now! In Ireland that song is still played. They were on our Friday night show a few weeks ago and played that song, it was as good as ever. It still send shivers down my spine and i was only 7 when we won. I think it was just a good year for us and there are many times when good songs didn't win. Sure look at us now :) we sent a puppet for the 'sneer' (laugh).
No that's correct, there's always politics at play, but what would you rather? A decent song such as 'Rock and Roll Kids' or the absolute dross that now constitutes the show? Block voting by the Balkans and former Soviet Empire. At least it was mainly about music in 1994; now it's a joke. Britain oughtn't to fund this backslapping little cabal on any further basis.
The contest today and back in 1994 are completely different stories. Today, I'd love it if a song like this would win the contest. However, 1994 was a year which I thought was chock-full of memorable songs, and this just wasn't there at the top with those. I think it's a good song, but in such a strong year it was a very bad winner.
It's hilarious how the Irish delegation had to pretend they were happy they won!

u know it's not true. ur song is boorrrring, our is full of emotions.

Everyone has a right to his/her opinion (or to support his/her country's entry, as is the case here). Both songs were very good, but personally I think Poland would have made a worthier winner.
setheurovision94 2 years ago
@setheurovision94 Not for me. Poland did not have one the best songs. Edyta on the other hand is a hell of a great singer. I trully prefered everything she did after this than this song that has no emotion to me. Norway, Cyprus, Portugal, Germany and Hungary really had better songs for me. I hear them and I either get a great vibe or emotional goosebumps. Not with Poland.

sour grapes....won by 60 points, pretty resounding

@innadla UK song was not boring ... hold on there ... just didn't work well on stage performed live from what I saw already a couple of times. The studio recorded versions sounded so much better. That meant that sometimes certain songs just didn't fit Eurovision when tried to be performed live. They are good but for radio or any other context but not ESC.

i'm sorry but Poland was much much better! edyta gorniak is great polish singer, and those 2 singers could know that! people pls be honest and admire to that! it was one of the biggest errors in eurovision's history!
innadla 2 years ago 2
You should be sorry because Poland's entry wasn't in the same league as this song.
This is widely regarded as Ireland's best winning song.

So did Hungary, France and... Ireland.
pedroferreiralp 2 years ago 2
Ireland did not deserve to win so many times...this year is an example, their song was not that great, even Portugal was better.
XaviTheKid 2 years ago
"Even Portugal"...? What do you mean? The 90's were quite a reasonable decade for us...! Don't judge us only for the last 10 miserable years. Specially because it's been miserable for everyone. Since 2000 the quality of the songs nearly vanished, with some memorable exceptions.
pedroferreiralp 2 years ago 2
Não sei qual é o teu problema...eu apenas disse que Portugal merecia ter ganho neste ano e que a música da Irlanda não era nada de especial...
XaviTheKid 2 years ago
Pensei que fosses um estrangeiro a criticar Portugal (porque no que respeita ao ESC está na moda). De resto, o meu problema não é nenhum e não precisas de falar assim.
pedroferreiralp 2 years ago
Pois, se te tivesses dado ao trabalho de ler o que eu escrevi, não tinhas tirado essa conclusão errada...mas pronto, tásse bem! ;)
XaviTheKid 2 years ago
@XaviTheKid whether they deserved to win or not, that's beside the point... this was not a football match... it was an international song contest.... and the reason Ireland won was because the rest of Europe, except Greece, voted that way and gave Ireland points ... at least the national juries did, that is... and remember, no one country is allowed to vote for itself in Eurovision...having said that... it would be nice to see a country that has never won before win next.. like Portugal!

IRELAND deserved to win... come on now they won by 60 points... so ders no point in saying the other songs were better
grahamlong93 3 years ago 9
Just because a song wins, even by a lead, it doesn't mean it's necessarily better than the other songs. I wouldn't set a song's quality by its scoring. In this strong year, I think it was ridiculous that Ireland won by such a lead; they were good, but not THAT great!
setheurovision94 3 years ago
Sure its all politics. Look at the songs that win now! In Ireland that song is still played. They were on our Friday night show a few weeks ago and played that song, it was as good as ever. It still send shivers down my spine and i was only 7 when we won. I think it was just a good year for us and there are many times when good songs didn't win. Sure look at us now :) we sent a puppet for the 'sneer' (laugh).
deelizdone 3 years ago 4
No that's correct, there's always politics at play, but what would you rather? A decent song such as 'Rock and Roll Kids' or the absolute dross that now constitutes the show? Block voting by the Balkans and former Soviet Empire. At least it was mainly about music in 1994; now it's a joke. Britain oughtn't to fund this backslapping little cabal on any further basis.
MatlockJack 2 years ago 4
The contest today and back in 1994 are completely different stories. Today, I'd love it if a song like this would win the contest. However, 1994 was a year which I thought was chock-full of memorable songs, and this just wasn't there at the top with those. I think it's a good song, but in such a strong year it was a very bad winner.
setheurovision94 2 years ago
we won by 60 points and the only country we can count on for almost regular votes is the U.K. we really did win fair in square.
stuartlittle1234321 2 years ago 6
Of course you did. It was a great song.

And to be fair we give a fairly good portion of our points to the UK too.
