Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery ... they are not trying to be like the true artist, who needs two of the same? They are just saying the song is beautiful and they like it too. It would be a very dull world if we were all alike. I love you, Shania.
Shania got a bad rap because she wrote some gimmicky songs that were not typically country--to say nothing of the fact that she was at first shunned by other ladies of country music at first...probably because she's so incredibly gorgeous that there was a little catty jealousy going on. She's earned her place, though. She may not be one of the classically great voices of C&W but she's pretty good and she's still one of the best looking women on the planet.

I think it's the fact that she's enjoyed fame, while only being good or competent, that might lead people to be hard on her. But if you were in her position, what would you do? You're' good enough to make a living at it. Awards and fame come. Do you turn them down? "I don't deserve this Grammy. I'm not as good as Patsy Cline. And, my Blue Eyes is not the best ever." I don't really like to compare artists...and her version is wonderful...but just want to say that really no one could make something feel as "authentic" as Elvis Presley could...no matter how hard they try. As with all his songs, you feel you are hearing a song from a man who has lived every word. His version recorded one year before he died..I don't hear the same strength of voice as he had in previous years..yet it is still lovely and captivating...as Elvis always is.
@sixtiesarewe - yeah, I listened to Eva Cassidy and I did cry - because she mangled such a nice song! Cassidy has a nice voice, but in my oinion she ornaments her songs too much - the ornamentation loses the melody instead of enhancing it.

Wow, much better than anything else I have heard Shania Twain. I've never been that impressed with her voice, but this nice. She goes a bit off key a couple times, tho. I wish she would stick to other peoples songs rather than her own, I don't think her songwriting is very good. She is beautiful, tho.

Why are so many people surprised Shania can "really" sing? Haven't you seen some of her live shows like the one she did with Alison Krauss and Union Station? No lip-sync'ing there. Eileen Edwards was singing for her supper long before anyone heard of Shania Twain.

Wow, much better than anything else I have heard Shania Twain. I've never been that impressed with her voice, but this nice. She goes a bit off key a couple times, tho. I wish she would stick to other peoples songs rather than her own, I don't think her songwriting is very good. She is beautiful, tho.
