  • Thankyou for the video, very clear and helpful ;)

  • Question: Can you make vector strokes?

  • these are wonderful for beginners due to nice explanations with short cuts...nice!

  • why did I even watch part 1? You tell us the exact same thing here +more.

  • HELPFUL...thnx

  • wow this was the first tutorial that was not a waste. Thanks!

  • Awesome.

P.S. anyone who dislikes are mad because they can't stroke their paths.

  • This is a very good tutorial! Thank, man :D

  • thank you for this part 2 tutorial.

  • oh my gosh can you copy and paste what you selected because i really need to do that

  • i dont really like the tutorial. it takes so long for him to explain the very important part of using the direct selection tool while also using the pen tool. he makes it seem harder than it is. many of these tutorials i am looking at making it so much harder.

  • I'm using CS4 and when I clicked on the Shape Tool, I didn't get the option to be able to dynamically change the colour of the shape like how you did. Please help

  • Absolutely brilliant for a Pen tool novice. Great !

  • My problem is that when I press alt and click to remove the node as at 4.30 I still get a curved line as at 4.40. I am doing everything right. my settings are all correct. What could be the cause?

    Thanks for your great tutorials.

  • I don't even have Photoshop, but I can't get enough of these videos. Maybe I'm just a loser.. :)

  • Thanks for the close ups, at least on the monitor

  • very good tutorial...i learned a lot...thank you so much and keep up the good work

  • It is a great tool but i still hate it

  • Really good. Both the tutorials were crisp and clear. Thank you!

  • THANK YOPU for this awesome tutorial, this is the only video in 2 days that I found (other than your OTHER video) that actually HELPS! or TEACHES, great job, thank you!

  • So cool! Up until these two tutorials, the pen tool WAS a nightmare for me. Now, it seems like it should be a dream. Very excited to get reacquainted with this formerly mysterious tool. Seemingly, and possibly completely, stupid question: Having seen both tutorials now, I'm not sure exactly what it is that differentiates the path setting from the shape setting of the pen tool. Both seem to accomplish the same thing. Is the difference that the shape tool automatically fills?

  • Can I create multiple vector shapes within one layer? If so, how?

  • @jukjik8 I haven't tried this with the pen tool but I'm pretty sure if you merge the layers it'll work.

  • Great tutorial.Straight forward and no nonsense

    Thanks.

  • This helped so much!! Now I understand the pen tool !!!

  • Hi, thank you for the great tutorials. I have a little problem here with the pen tool, i just can't use the shape layers. When i click on the image, or anywhere in the screen, it goes automatically to the path sub-object. Do you know what it is?

  • I have been learning the programs and didn't know to stay within a 90 deg with the pen. That tool can make a begginer very upset. Thanks for the vid.

  • The picture looks much better with the penny in it. why would u want a big pink circle in this picture

  • your videos r all sik ive voted 5 start 4 every1 dat ive wathed!!:D

  • They're all good videos. I might stay up and watch them all.

    I haven't watched one yet that I haven't voted 5stars. :P

  • I loved the part where you got lost. Was fun.

Thankyou for doing this Tut' I usually get really stuck with the pen tool, and it's dificult if you've never really used it before, so thankyou very, very much!!

  • No problem. Thanks for taking the time to watch. =)

  • It seems there's some important info, e.g. the pen tool can't do shapes more than 90 degrees and using the alt key which seem significant, so it seems these could have been brought up in part 1. I understand breaking up the tutorial into shapes / vectors, but it seems maybe there's a better way to split up the information and give important info sooner. Otherwise, very easy to follow along - quick and easy.

  • I'm liking the pen tool

  • i love our canadian money haha :P

  • like so

  • I've made a video response of me making a T-Shirt design using the pen tool if anyone wants to see what can be done with it!

Nicely explained by the way and well covered. I think it might be interesting to show them the add and delete anchor tool plus that other cursor like tool that for 7 years ive never remembered the name!

  • Howard. Is there a way to bring the open theme down about 7db? Is seems much louder than your tutorials. I always have to turn up the speakers for your vids, and the music ends up a little too loud. Just a thought. Thanks for all the tips.

  • Good idea, thanks.

  • "Now we go to our shapes tool... Where is our shapes tool?!"

    Very good tutorial Howard, thanks!

    5/5

  • Haha, I knew someone would say something about that. I usually have my Tool Pallet extended (double columns). I got lost. =p

  • Does iShowU work with Windows XP?

  • No.

  • Thanks

  • Thanks for uploading the second part, also what do you use to record your videos?

    Thanks

  • I use iShowU to record the videos.
