  • A very useful guide, thanks!

  • Do record FRAPS clips to a separate hard drive or do you just have one hard drive? Thanks so much for the guides Diggity.

  • What the hell...My video file is 10 MBs and the Audio file is 110 MBs..WHY?D:

  • How do you make your videos in 1080p?

  • I know this video is pretty old by now, but it still helped a lot in getting my videos to compress. One question I have about compressing the files is: Is there something I should change to get rid of some "corruption" in the compression? My videos get random spots where they become all pixelated for a few seconds, and then jump ahead to where it should be, back to being matched up w/the audio.

    Any suggestions?

  • I was able to do this with Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit for anyone else concerned that he said Windows 7 only.

  • Thank you!

  • Thank you!

  • Thank you!

  • Thank you!

  • when i downloaded the x294, it downloaded but i wasn't able to find it on the V-Dub compression options. do i need to download it straight into virtual dub? and if so i cant find it.

  • I love the fact you are doing these , but u really need to clarify some things, i download x264 it didn't pop up in my virtualdub. just small things like that, also you showed a How To Stream with FME, and stuff they just need more description then , here this in that and this in that... please

  • Hey, is there a difference in single pass if u use CQP, CRF and ABR ? (nobody seems to use ABR). I usually use Multipass set at 2000 but don't know if there is any difference. Also, I noticed the profile is set to High. My default is Auto. What is the profile for?

  • THX!

  • I am trying to edit a video I made on Fraps to Camtasia Studio 7, but unfortunately Camtasia won't let me open my project. I thought mabey it's because Camtasia only opens up projects done on Camtasia. I'm not sure though. If you know what the problem is, can you please tell me the solution? I will need one really soon.

  • This is pretty great. I used to do it, but the iskysoft media converter has fairly decent compression for youtube (they have a youtube setting) but what I like best about it is that it has GPU acceleration. If you have a Nvidia GPU it makes encoding crazy fast.

  • protip: Save processing settings...

  • The same programs can be used on XP 32-bit, you just have to download the compatible version.

And no to bitch about the video, but both x264VFW itself and putting an h.264 stream in AVI container is a hack, there are better alternatives, for example StaxRip(uses Avisynth and mkv).

  • @Madarpok As far as I know StaxRip doesnt have a lot of other features (logo filter etc) that make Vdub preferable for commentators in particular.

  • @diggitySC You can add some filters(crop, denoise, resize) directly from StaxRip, you can add more if you use ffdshow(incl. logo), and you can add even more using AviSynth. It is quite simple unless you have to change the filter-set during the video.

  • when i have finished encoding it the quality is low and it is also a very small frame size

  • League of legends!

    I saw it!

    you must paly me nooooow D;

  • I like my video encoding chunky...

  • the people of uut0 thank you

  • You sir have just saved me a hell of alot of time! seriously! Thank you SO much.

  • >VLC on desktop

  • yeah diggity has league of legends!!!

  • omg i see league of legends

  • Make a LOL video :D i love that game

  • You play EVE Diggity? :D

  • Just wondering... Wth is your wallpaper?

  • WOW, would you do League of Legends commentaries?! that would be so awesome!

  • So how much roughly is a 10 minute video for you Diggity? Because I tried Vdub for some videos I uploaded and it didn't reduce it a whole lot, a 10 minutes video would still be 2Gb + and to much of a pain to upload..

  • @Saxonaitor WIth the QCP of 25 that I have set I generally stay under 2gigs as long as I dont have a video over 35 minutes

  • @Saxonaitor you might want to lower your quality a bit. You might also be trying to compress a file which has already been compressed in which case you won't get much gain

  • If you're running Windows XP, the XVid MPEG4 codec that I think comes with VirtualDub works well enough. Setting it to 15 gives good quality/filesize ratio.

If you want to compress sound, too, Audio > Full Processing mode and Compression can work if you know sound files. I prefer the AC-3 ACM codec compressing to 96kBit/s, 44100, stereo, most of the time you can't tell a difference, but you should play around with just to see. That codec doesn't like StarCraft 2, though.

    Just my two cents.

  • @GrandDracolich I have a prior tutorial that works interchangeable between xvid and divx if anyone wants to check it out.

  • @GrandDracolich My one side note to this would be to put the audio rate up to 48000 for a better sound overall.

  • lol nice, thanks Diggity :D

  • I <3 diggity~!!

  • wow you play EVE Online? awesome man Diggity

great tutorial, I'm going to try this soon.

  • @sean6201 yea I am in dreddit. Taking a break for a bit though in order to focus more on SC2 stuff
