  • If you listen carefully, that crowd doesn't stop screaming for the entire song. I can't blame them. So very fucking good music

  • My uncle had a choice to go to this exact concert or a Grateful Dead concert. He chose the Dead but after seeing the DVD he regretted his decision ever since.

  • Sorry I'm brain dead and it.s late. They covered Cortez the Killer

  • I went to this show in Philly. Young did the first set solo on guitar and harmonica and finished it with this on the piano. 20,000 of us just sat there amazed by this mans talent. Him, a guitar and us. Just a quiet little evening. Then Crazy Horse came out and rocked the house down!! What a fricking great memory!!

My 22 year old son just sent me a great clip of Dave Matthews and Warren Haynes covering this song in Central Park - they did great version but it wasn't Neil!!

  • Two people missed the gold rush.

  • Two people have an extra chromosome.

  • For those of you that don't know this was a song about a soldier in Viet Nam. Think about the lyrics and listen again. A lot of protest songs then.

  • @kid5084 I could be wrong, but I've heard that this song is a description of the hallucinations and visions he had after taking acid

  • @nicktoker Sorry Vietnam was my era, error. I have been informed that it was a story form WWII.

  • lyrics are not correct...

  • Oh... My.. God..

  • Amazing.

  • Still gives me goosebumps.

  • Just realized that this was ALL Neil. Played the harmonica while playing the piano.. Wow, what talent. And vocals as well.

  • never shall you die, neil

  • Forever Young...

    CLASSIC

  • Did anybody read 'Shakey'? The non-Scott Bacula-guy from 'Quantum Leap' came up w/ the concept for this song...

  • funny how some songs drift you back ...... was born 1954 ... so was with this as it came out .... learned how to harmonise to Neil ...... kids who were into music at the time learned to sing, play and perform thanks to music like this ........ still got my Yamaha from that time .....

  • Anyone have any idea what Budster is talking about?

  • the master

  • Man this song takes me back!!!....Im 45 now, not really complaining but how did the time seem to pass SO fast???....LOL!

Love songs like this that can "take you back!"

    G'day!

  • I sang this song to my 2 kids while rocking them to sleep - Ialways loved the verse... ' I was lyin in a burned out basement...' great music, great lyrics, great man..

  • Great song!

You got the lyrics wrong.... there are some mistakes...

  • What lyrics!

  • Awesome! Thanks!

  • Amazing

  • music to my ears

  • Good chance I'm wrong, but I believe this was '79 on the Rust Never Sleeps tour with Crazy Horse.

  • The song is epic but, the lyrics are painfully wrong on this video.

  • @geekgrl74 Painfully wrong? It is Neil himself singing the song. Surely the original artist can do as he please with the lyrics when singing his own song, no? Lighten up, bitch.

  • @rpfunder01 Look, I meant the lyrics the poster placed under the video. Not the lyrics Neil himself sang. Uggh...calm down there hun.

  • My favourite song ever!

  • Sooooo great!!!

  • Sheer genius!

  • Try listening to this on LSD. You see the music, and hear the lyrics.

  • This sounds like a rapture song, haha!

  • can someone make a on screen lyrics of this song plx?

  • i hope that his piano falls on that 1 dislike

  • i can play that on the piano

  • Really fukin amazing. Got goosebumps. Truly Talented

  • Awesome piano!...12 years old and i love this song :D

  • At 63 rock and roll is as much a part of my life as it was back then.Married over 42 years to my college sweetheart. We meet while playing in rock bands.Saw Neil in about 1965 at the filmore west while doing a tour with our band.He has got better with time.He is one of a kind.ROCK AND ROLL FOREVER TO THE SILENCERS AND LOST GENERATION

  • who the hell disliked this?!!?!?!??!

  • @gingerslayer1134

retards who don't know what real music is

  • This song always brings a tear to my eye...

  • Neil Young....awesome in his time!!!

  • I first heard this song in the presentation of Nassim Haramein some time ago. Nice song!

  • oh Neil, who will be able to make a music like this again?

honestly, I don't know. But I know for sure that if this person exist, he 'll have a big heart and a beatiful soul.

Thanks you a lot, Neil. You've made my life (and my dad's life) a more wonderful lifes.

(sorry everyone for my bad english) :)

  • @musiclandify Your english expresses everyones feelings! this canadian is music!

  • Neil is the best. I support his political views, but Neil is looney in many ways (listen to him from '72-'74) Most genius' are looney.

  • neil

  • look at that stool he is one tall son of a gun cant wait so see ya in philly whooo

  • He is a great artist,.... looney in his political views,.....but I can seperate

  • i hope the someone other than me realize what his singing about, please pay attention to the song again, and one realize the song is about the end of the world and our karmanic doom........please really pay attention !

  • @firedragon11122 it's about the impending doom of the planet, and the permanent doom of his current self, but still there is an air of hope, or at least resignition that such is life --- life is suffering, still is beautiful.

  • @firedragon11122 Nice try preacher....it was written to be the soundtrack to the Dean Stockwell-Herb Berman screenplay After the Gold Rush. LOL

  • blows my mind that he can play piano AND guitar as well as he does....those are 2 HARD instruments to master.

  • Better than thom yorke's version, but long live radiohead!!

  • 0 DISLIKES. THATS WHAT I'M TALKIN ABOUT.

  • Neil is the Best! Hope i can see him someday

  • This was THE show! Cow Palace, fall of '78. My freshman year at SFSU. I'll never forget it. If I remember coreectly the next song was My My, Hey Hey, and at the end of that he laid down on the stage in a giant sleeping bag and the sand people carried him off. We burned a couple during intermission, and then he came back on with Crazy Horse and blew the roof off that dump. It was EPIC!

  • Back around 1980 when I was in high school there was a girl named Erica who sang this song acapela during an assembly. She was wonderful.

When ever I hear this song I still think of her. I hope your still singing Erica.

  • @mps63 what a nice thing to say...real friends run deep....

  • @mps63 I am :)

  • @mps63 the sentimentality oozes from your words. may sound weird, but your comment is powerful and it caused me to reflect for several minutes upon my own past. i often feel i was born fifteen to twenty years too late, but it is fleeting and the feeling doesn't last too long. Cheers. Even I hope she's still singing.
