My uncle had a choice to go to this exact concert or a Grateful Dead concert. He chose the Dead but after seeing the DVD he regretted his decision ever since.
I went to this show in Philly. Young did the first set solo on guitar and harmonica and finished it with this on the piano. 20,000 of us just sat there amazed by this mans talent. Him, a guitar and us. Just a quiet little evening. Then Crazy Horse came out and rocked the house down!! What a fricking great memory!!
My 22 year old son just sent me a great clip of Dave Matthews and Warren Haynes covering this song in Central Park - they did great version but it wasn't Neil!!
Listening to a music like this which time has buried deep into the recess of our brain suddenly wake us up triggering moments once forgotten to flood us with excitement and calm.... and joy and deep appreciation of the past wishing we were there again...
funny how some songs drift you back ...... was born 1954 ... so was with this as it came out .... learned how to harmonise to Neil ...... kids who were into music at the time learned to sing, play and perform thanks to music like this ........ still got my Yamaha from that time .....
No, I'm not going to press any number on my keyboard
No, I'm not going to thumbs up your comment
No, I don't care how many people don't have sunshine in a bag
No, I don't care about you 'raping a button'
No, I wasn't sent here by somebody else
Music is here to be listened and appreciated. Unfortunately there are people out there who say the same old shit over again. Spread this everywhere and hope that the idiots will SHUT UP
I sang this song to my 2 kids while rocking them to sleep - Ialways loved the verse... ' I was lyin in a burned out basement...' great music, great lyrics, great man..
@geekgrl74 Painfully wrong? It is Neil himself singing the song. Surely the original artist can do as he please with the lyrics when singing his own song, no? Lighten up, bitch.
las traducciones no pueden nunca pueden ser tan horrorosas como aqui la veo, iyo estas canciones hay que estimarlas y hacer una valoración aproximada pero nunca literal porque va a sonarte como una chorra.
At 63 rock and roll is as much a part of my life as it was back then.Married over 42 years to my college sweetheart. We meet while playing in rock bands.Saw Neil in about 1965 at the filmore west while doing a tour with our band.He has got better with time.He is one of a kind.ROCK AND ROLL FOREVER TO THE SILENCERS AND LOST GENERATION
i hope the someone other than me realize what his singing about, please pay attention to the song again, and one realize the song is about the end of the world and our karmanic doom........please really pay attention !
@firedragon11122 it's about the impending doom of the planet, and the permanent doom of his current self, but still there is an air of hope, or at least resignition that such is life --- life is suffering, still is beautiful.

@mps63 the sentimentality oozes from your words. may sound weird, but your comment is powerful and it caused me to reflect for several minutes upon my own past. i often feel i was born fifteen to twenty years too late, but it is fleeting and the feeling doesn't last too long. Cheers. Even I hope she's still singing.
this is age of aqaurius my friends and the Loading has begun... theres room for almost everbody so please leave ur baggage behind... u aint gonna need it on the other side... love, Bear
If you listen carefully, that crowd doesn't stop screaming for the entire song. I can't blame them. So very fucking good music

For those of you that don't know this was a song about a soldier in Viet Nam. Think about the lyrics and listen again. A lot of protest songs then.

@kid5084 I could be wrong, but I've heard that this song is a description of the hallucinations and visions he had after taking acid
